[Later on in the day after Jaime's found Ken, he'll be treated to a text from Maya, confirming his location and telling him to STAY THERE, because gosh darnit, she is going to FIND HIM!

And when she does, Jaime will be treated to the sound of her calling him through the crowd.]

Hey! Hey! Jaime!

[She hurries up to him with a fresh japanese-inspired hot dog from Beach Buns all protected in two cardboard food boats (one turned over top of the other) and shoves it toward him the moment she's close enough.]

Hey! Try this, its good.

Huh? Oh!

[Jaime looks down at the hot dog, and hey, he's never been one to deny free food. He takes it with a bright smile, and opens it up, peering down at it, and... oh, that smells good.]

Hey, thanks! [He takes a bite out of it, and lets out an mmmm of appreciation.] But aren't I usually the one buying you food?

[He's got you pegged, Maya.]

[She's grinning despite herself, though.]

C'mon, I don't know what you're talking about.

[Even still, she's eager to follow up--]

[Jaime still has his mouth full like a mannerless loser when he interrupts,] What? You totally know... 'scuse me.

[He swallows loudly, ready to rebutt her statement with definitive proof (objection!) when she brings up something cool he did, and, well, he never turns down someone calling him cool. More than that, he has no idea what she's talking about.]

I've been here all day. You mean getting M'gann to meet you...?

Uh, no, but thanks for that too? M'gann is so cute.

[She laughs a little bit.]

I heard you stuck up for Ken! Which, y'know.

[For just a moment, she looks a little less than confident.]

It's kinda my fault he's dressed like that, anyway.

Oh, that. That was nothing. [He wrinkles his nose, remembering how he had lost control -- though by 'lost control' what he really means is, he had started pelting him with tiny voodoo dolls and then got carried away in lecture mode.] Actually, I think I might have embarrassed him a little.

[Poor kid, stuck with this guy completely losing his temper about manners. He embarrasses himself sometimes, even if he stands by what he said, if not the way he said it.]

He didn't not want to wear the costume, right?

Oh, that's fine. It's Ken, everyone embarrasses him.

[which is probably because Ken hangs out with embarrassing people.]

Um-- no! I mean, I was worried a little after I heard about it, but he was such a good sport when we were getting ready.

Besides, he looks amazing. I don't think he minded at all.

I usually try not to, though!

[Then why do you show up at his elementary school soccer matches with signs, Jaime.]

Anyway, if he doesn't mind, then you got nothing to worry about. If he wants to keep on dressing like that, he'll run into a lot of guys like that. [Jaime shoves more of the hot dog into his mouth, chews, then swallows.] Close pal of mine got picked on for wearing nail polish and junk, and I would've yelled at them too, if he'd let me. Ken stood up for himself pretty good too, y'know. Even if I didn't get half of what he was saying.
