[She watches this, and pulls him into an alcove. They're alone there, and her eyes are fixed on him, bright blue, narrowing a bit like she's looking at the inside of a car with a problem she's never seen before.]

[ He doesn't like the look. It makes him want to curl in on himself and avoid her gaze. But instead he tips his chin up, almost daring. ]

That doesn't make any sense.

[If anything is clear is that Saya legitimately doesn't understand this. Not like how Gansey doesn't understand it, but a function of humanity, she does not understand even the beginnings of this. People like presents. People like things given. People like to think other people care about them.
