Yeah. I think I'm just out of practice, I haven't really had to do much public speaking since I came here.

[Says the twelve year old.]

None of the boys stuff. I just decided which outfits Ken would show off. But all my dresses are my designs.

[Sort of, anyway. Did it count as a design if she willed it into existence?]

What sort of machine do you use? Or is it handsewn?

[ Kanaya had a power like that once, but never really made use of it. She found that she prefers working with her hands than taking magical shortcuts. ]

[She looked down at her outfit, then over at the racks for a moment, thoughtfully. Then back to Kanaya.]

Watch.

[She held out her arms, and with a swirl of light, her outfit suddenly shifted into the one on the rack.]

Tadaa.

Oh! It's a wardrobifier. Or...the magical equivalent, at least.

Can you only use it on yourself? [ She mimics Pacifica's glance back to the racks, noticing her template. She wonders how that would work in a wider production. ] Do they remain like that, or does it wear off under certain circumstances? Over time, I mean, or if they're removed.

It...it's not real? Like, I designed this stuff and then a lady from the magazine paid someone to make the ones on the rack.

I can't really take them off or anything. Just...change it.

[She was technically in her pajamas a lot.]

If my powers get nullified they go away.

So, it's more of a glamour, then. You aren't changing what you wear, only the way what you're wearing is perceived.

[ Who knows what she's really wearing, or if someone with a magical immunity could see it. ]

Do you need the real one in order for it to work, or would a drawing be enough? Maybe even a simple mental image.

I...guess that's a word. [Everything has to be weird, right?]

No I don't need to see it or anything. I just make it up.

[She tilts her head to the side, thinking about it, and then a moment later her dress shifts into something more blue and longer, down to her feet. And swishy. With a black belt and gloves.]

Well, it's still impressive, no matter which way you cut it!

[ She digs in her purse, to find one of her cards. ] Have you ever given any thought to producing your designs separately, to sell to your fans? Spreading the good word, as it were.

I...don't know? The lady from the magazine mentioned something about that. It's not...really anything I've thought about before. I just sort of brushed her off.

[Another thing she was good at.]

[ She reaches into her bag and pulls out a card. If the girl has fans, that's certainly a market, a demand. Possibly a goldmine? Either way, it couldn't hurt. ]

I'm gonna need a business manager or something aren't I.

It would probably be recommended, to make sure you're treated fairly in the venture.

[ She doesn't say "especially at your age," she would've hated if someone had told her that when she was Pacifica's age. But she's certainly thinking it. ]

[Pacifica had no idea where to even start with this. She wasn't going to say that out loud, of course.]

I guess this is why the lady from the magazine was so helpful. Since I don't have anyone uh...figuring that stuff out for me.

You're lucky she was looking out for your best interests. That could have gone very differently.

[ But who knows, if the magazine wanted to do a big feature on her, it might be in their best interests to keep her happy. ]

Things are always more complicated when money is involved.

I think she's just being nice to me cause the kids who read their magazine like me.

Well, yes, I do think you're right. She's looking out for your best interests because it is currently in her best interests. But I don't think that situation is necessarily sustainable, unless the magazine itself hires you.

The woman is sure to have her limits.
