[The tattoos... sure are a thing. Getting tagged like an animal doesn't really make Betty feel any more inclined towards registering, however redundantly. At the same time, some sort of measure needed to be taken.]

I wouldn't expect the government of this U.S. to prioritize our needs over its native citizens. [Pause.] Are they our voice with the UN? [Or: do we have Ambassador-equivalents on an international level?] Are they responsible for the recognition?

Some needs being more important than others, I suppose.

No, that was an imPort team, in response to the Russians treating us otherwise. [ But that's an interesting point. ]

I have to say, that does make me feel better. Knowing we can still have that sort of influence. [Unless the team, I don't know, got its way through acts of terror, but that really seems unlikely.] Do you know if there was any sort of retaliation? [For going over their heads - look, who knows with politicians?]

Retaliation? [ He raises his eyebrows. ] No, it was the government's idea. They sent us to various countries to drum up support.

[She nods.] So overall, a healthy relationship. [That's still a question.]

Do try to get involved in community matters. You may only be here for a short time, but the locals have to live here. And they'll still be here if you make friends with other ImPorts and they disappear.
