WHO: Illumi and Hisoka
WHERE: Maurtia Falls
WHEN: Early April
WHAT: Illumi says hi and definitely doesn't have ulterior motives, really!
WARNINGS: None
[Illumi is not particularly pleased about essentially being kidnapped and recruited to work as a costumed fraud, but in the interest of securing what little footing he can, he decided it best to play along with the powers that be for now.
The only exception being that his assigned "job" has got to go. He's already neglected to come to any of his shifts, even if he's yet to secure a new one. It's not like it mattered when the government felt like paying for his housing anyway. Maybe he would be penalized for it, but he didn't really care.
Illumi has much more important things to worry about. Like how to get back home, and why that, after some digging, he heard a familiar name and got an unfamiliar number. He holds his phone now, lightly grasped in the palm of one hand, his thumb sliding over the keyboard.
He types in one, simple sentence.]
I can see you.

[Was this the third time Illumi has shown up here, was it really him? And yet despite a big part of him that felt apathetic to it with how often Illumi has come and gone, ever since Chrollo left, a small part of Hisoka feels a sort of longing. Longing for that world... for those in it. Perhaps in a way, homesickness has finally hit him, not with everyone from his world gone. And so he feels some excitement still seeing this name, even if he really has no idea how long it will last this time.]
[Currently he's on the roof of his casino, dressed to the nines in a patterned suit for work. He's on a break, sitting on a ledge and now leaning very very far back, almost off the low wall of the edge completely, glancing around before lifting his phone up to reply.]
how creepy. ♣ and how just like u. ♥
no subject
He barely even reads it over, already set on ignores Hisoka's comments in favour of perusing his own interests.]
It seems you're well established here. How long has it been?
no subject
i couldnt tell u, y dont u come up here, ive missed u. ♥
[Said as he glances over his shoulder and then moves to stand up, stepping away from the ledge and out of Illumi's view. He can sense him there... he aura- ah... the only one anywhere now aside from his own. He imagines Illumi found him sensing his own aura as well, Hisoka barely ever bothers hiding it now. People here and only really see it if they focus hard and purposely. Otherwise it didn't matter.]
no subject
As Hisoka slips out of his field of view, Illumi can still sense his aura well enough to know he hasn't gone far. Looking to his phone again, he replies.]
I can't say I've missed you. Stop moving.
[He slips away from the crowd and leaps up, landing first on a lamppost and then with near silent footfalls on the roof.]
Oh, it really is you.
no subject
[Smiling a little to himself and laughing under his breath at the response. But either that meant Illumi was just being Illumi, someone who wouldn't miss him anyway, or it was because he was hinting that he had just seen him from whenever he was brought here. He's sure he'll learn soon enough.]
[His phone gets pocketed and he waits though only for a moment before Illumi is there and he feels him again, his aura. So close. It's been... some time since he felt another aura like his own, even a Nen of a different type. It makes his stomach feel suddenly heavier. He takes a step closer, raising his chin.]
In the flesh- and a well tailored suit. Surprising?
no subject
It would have been more surprising if I hadn't already seen it from a hundred yards away.
[A beat.]
Are you trying to blend in? [That's unlike him.]
no subject
[Said slightly disappointed. He glances away.]
It must be surprising. You could've said though, 'You clean up well.' Your so uncute, Illumi.
[He'll wait for a reply but he knows better. Illumi won't toss some witty banter back, he'll just wait for Hisoka to say something more useful of he'll take the pause as a invite to tell Hisoka more about something else. Oh well... he'll continue.]
I've been here long enough to see it's more more bothersome to play against the rules too much, but- It will surprise you even more to hear I own the building under your feet as well, which makes appearances matter.
Though, women do seem to pay better when you dress for them.
[So really he's just being manipulative by dressing like this, what it comes down to, pft. Still, it is very unlike him, it must be such an odd thing for Illumi to see this world having tamed him a little. He almost feels ashamed of it.]
no subject
His eyebrows raise slightly, lips parting with a hint of surprise when Hisoka claims to own the place beneath them.] Oh, that one does surprise me. Now I understand why you decided to dress the part.
[Since he really doesn't believe that Hisoka would do it for appearances if he had any other choice. That however, raises another concern. That Hisoka could be persuaded to change anything uniquely him.
Illumi isn't sure where to start, but digging will get him somewhere.] You must have more connections that I estimated, which means you've been here awhile.
no subject
secretive now.]
'Connections' isn't the right word, but yes, a while- a while enough that this is the third time this has happened. I wonder then, how you'll differ from the other versions of yourselves. Did you know too...
[His eyes slim, smiling a little wider.]
Some of your family was here as well.
no subject
He'd tried all their numbers of course, and none of them work. Hisoka's previous number hadn't worked either, so if they were here, they likely had different phones with them too.]
"Was" implies they aren't here anymore.
[If they were here at some point, he should have known. Then again, Hisoka's time here clearly doesn't match up to the last time he saw him either. Illumi knows he's being intentional vague too, and it's frustrating when he's in need of so many answers.]
If what you say is true, it's much more likely I was here before and don't remember it--and the same applies to my family.
[That seems like a very doable Nen ability.]
But even that's unlikely.
[He'll call him a liar, and see how far it gets Hisoka to elaborate.]
no subject
[Ah- bingo, of course Illumi's attention latches onto that. It was nice to see Illumi here as... well, Illumi, it felt so nostalgic. Though he wondered how he'd busy himself now with no family and no assassination duties, gosh. It's easy to see Hisoka is rather attentive as well. He could be a little apathetic to Illumi at times but now? Now he doesn't even want to look away from the guy. It's just so nice to see him, see anyone with an aura...]
My my, how mysterious. Haven't you ever heard? Time is relative.
[Stiiiill being vague.]
no subject
[He won't just take Hisoka's word for it.
This is something he'll need to verify with proof, albeit the only method he can think of getting such a thing would be to show his face and wait for someone he doesn't know to recognize him. The network should be an easy place to do that, but he'll try to keep low in the meantime. There's still other things he needs to take care of.]
I know. [Flatly, matter-of-fact. He has a feeling he won't get anything worthwhile out of Hisoka at this rate, but he'd rather not waste the favour he's owed from Yorkshin.] I read the brochure. We aren't in our "world" anymore. I can't even sense aura from the people here.
no subject
That's because they have none. [And Illumi will even see the slight drain of his amusement having admitted that. He glances to the side.]
The people of this world don't have Nen and can't unlock it either. The only ones who will are those that show up from our universe. It's really sooo unfortunate.
no subject
I figured as much. [Somehow, the flat look on Hisoka's face as he says that has the reverse effect on Illumi, his lips curving slightly. Of course Hisoka would find this situation less than ideal, but that works well for him. Now Hisoka has no one else with Nen but him to pay attention to.]
I don't mind it. [He pipes, casually rubbing the fact in his face.] The people they bring here have abilities of their own, but if they don't have Nen, we still hold an advantage. Don't you agree?
no subject
[His arms cross over his chest, sighing and he lifts his chin a little and lulls his head to the side to look over the buildings to the side.]
They do... those abilities were so much more useful before though...
[Ah- is he reminiscing. How unlike him. But he was even more interested when Chrollo was here to help the man fill up his book...]
It can still be fun though. But advantage for what, are you already planning something, Illumi?
no subject
I hope your time here hasn't made you soft, Hisoka. [It's only a friendly threat. Illumi doesn't want to have to deal with unforeseen complications.]
All I'm planning is to go home. This world isn't that much different from our own. Power and money are still all you need to get what you want.
no subject
Soft? What are you trying to say? I've always been soft... I'm very sensitive...
[Pouting a little as he taps at his cheek.]
no subject
When I arrived, they saw it fit to assign me with a job. I haven't bothered to show up, but I'm sure you have an opening.
[It's only temporary, but he does need some source of immediate income. It'll take time to dip his fingers into the assassination business again, and he needs to ascertain first if the quickest route to home is playing along, or wreaking chaos.]
no subject
You'll have to call me 'boss'.
[Smirking as he crosses his arms over his chest and tilts his head to the side.]
Do you think you can manage that? It'll make up for your lack of skill on the felt.
no subject
Do all your employees call you that? [Since he doubts it.]
no subject
[Smiiille.]
They do.
[A lie or... I mean it's not hard to believe that he makes them all do it too, is it?]
no subject
It wouldn't be that difficult to learn.
[He has a strong feeling Hisoka won't budge on this one, and since he's rather not use up the actual favour he's owed...] I'll only do it in the presence of customers.
[And he doesn't promise not to be sarcastic about it.]
no subject
[He imagines he'll be fun to see there as well, and Hisoka can come and enjoy a drink served to him by Illumi! This is definitely a good idea.]
no subject
[It's not something he did often, only the few times Mom had him prepare food for his siblings instead of her.]
no subject
[Or not... honestly he's not too sure if he cares as long as he isn't who goes to de-powering jail. He's sure you could poison people enough to not hurt them and gain amusing results though, he might be all for that. It sounds entertaining, not that Illumi was driven by 'entertainment' value like he was.]
