Oh here she comes
WHO: Saya Wallace, Kitty Jones, King Nicolas the long-suffering
WHERE: Heropa, garage
WHEN: Wednesday the 30th
WHAT: Saya was such a cute teenage girl. She's not going to be one for long.
WARNINGS: Spiders. Body horror.
[She's been feeling restless and twitchy all day; hungry in a way she hasn't ever felt before, which should have been some indication something was wrong. But it didn't seem to matter how much she ate; it just sat heavily in her stomach.
So now she's at the garage where she's staying (and she keeps wondering how long she'll stay there) and there's a big bag of trashy food, cheap and usually filling, sitting in front of her, when she hears someone come in.]
Kitty?
Is that you?
[She's only really just met Kitty; the other girl is a fighter, a little bit brawling, but that's okay.]
I have chips if you want some.

[ She ought to have been doing work, looking at the books - she does know how; she'd learned to keep accounts just earlier that year - but she couldn't bring herself to do so. The weather was lovely, and there was this argument happening on rumblr that she had to weigh in on, and so she'd spent an hour outside typing furiously on her phone. She's late, therefore, coming into the garage, and she did forget to eat, so the offer of chips is a lovely one.
She comes over and fishes a few from the bag and shoves them into her mouth. And then she says: ]
Can you believe that there are still people out there who insist that girls are weaker and gentler by nature? That makes me want to weakly and gently punch them in the bloody jaw.
no subject
[She laughs a little, that actually makes her feel a little better.]
On what, Rumblr? There's a whole corner that just does science, you know.
[Yes that's what Satya's been spending her time doing.]
no subject
[ She says that a touch dismissively. ]
It's not exactly my thing. I'm definitely way more into politics.
no subject
[She takes a chip and then sets it down.]
I think I ate something sour. But I'm still really hungry.
no subject
[ Her eyebrows draw down. ]
D'you need some ginger root? Or mint? Or medicine?
no subject
Maybe?
Um.
I'm really hungry, but-
[She looks up, then.]
Do you smell that?
no subject
[ She frowns just a little. ]
Smell what?
no subject
Oh well. Nicolas may be older, but his habit of stopping at the garage door to knock on the nearest surface instead of barging in (at least when someone besides Saya had been around) yet remains. Maybe a remembered habit, if distantly, or just one he's always had.
Considering his previous conversation with the younger spider shifter, it was about time to check up. ]
Hello? Is anyone in?
no subject
And the hunger.
She turns when she hears Nic's voice and it's suddenly clear she's not completely well.]
It smells like something foul.
[Werewolves don't really smell bad. They smell like the Wyld, musky and mossy and strange, maybe. But it's so overpowering that she can't block it out.]
I think I'm going to be sick-
no subject
[ Kitty calls that out to Nicolas. But she's distracted by Saya's distress; she goes over to touch the other girl on the back of the hand. ]
Are you all right?
no subject
Nicolas doesn't say anything else from out by the doors, instead entering the garage and striding directly towards them. ]
no subject
-no, she's not going to vomit-
-she turns to look at Kitty and there are four more eyes stacked on her forehead, brown and round and not at all human. She opens her mouth and there's something in her mouth. Whatever it is flicks out, and she does vomit.
On Kitty.
Only it's not vomit, they're spiders, brown and the size of quarters. Satya grips Kitty's arms and all her eyes blink at once, and her mouth reforms, her additional eyes close-]
What's happening-
-I'm so -
[The word that's missing is hungry, and Kitty is starting to smell delicious.]
no subject
Kitty screams, loudly, a piercing shriek of terror. And she goes to scramble back, but Saya is holding onto her. And so Kitty yanks back, struggling to get away from her, still screaming - too scared to even think to transform. ]
no subject
In case he needs to fight.
That leaves a similarly inhuman look about him, ears growing pointed, fangs beginning to replace regular human teeth, eyes going yellow. ]
Satya! You need to let her go!
no subject
[Her mouth opens again and there's those things, and her eyes all open at once as she tries to crawl over Nicolas to get to Kitty.
This is helped by the fact that she's just grown another pair of legs, right out of her torso.
Two extra pairs, in fact. She's increasing in weight, no less, her mouth changing shape almost entirely, her chelicerae descending. She tries to climb over him, and shifts back, tumbling over his shoulders, her hands reaching.]
no subject
She grabs for a dolly in her way, turns around and desperately chucks it behind her at one of them. Doesn't matter which. ]
no subject
I know, but you can't eat her! She's your friend, Satya! Control yours--
[ And then the dolly bounces off the back of his head, cutting him off short as he stumbles, surprised by the sudden blow. ]
no subject
Fortunately for him, she hasn't quite figured out how this body works yet, so instead of crawling over him she just tries to ram herself through him. Unfortunately, though, the shift seems to be holding this time; she's not changing shape at all now.]
no subject
Then she turns her head back to the werewolf. Half-shifted. Probably not far from bloodlust, from tearing people apart, like werewolves do. And yet he was just talking about...friendship and all that, which is not talk that you usually hear from the Night Police or those like them. She'd thought she had to run from him, too, but maybe...
In a burst of reckless courage, the sparrow becomes a hummingbird. And that hummingbird lifts off and buzzes low past the spider's hideous, horrible mandibles, trying to distract it so that it stops trying to rip its way through the werewolf. ]
no subject
That's the end of trying to reason. Saya's gone full first change, although whether this is the war form of her kind or not, he isn't sure, not even so many years later. As it goes, some of the Changing Breeds still aren't quite so interested in talking to high and mighty werewolf lords. While Kitty attempts to distract the giant spider, Nicolas pushes his form even farther, taking much better control of it than what the younger spider can manage.
Clothing either sinks away into fur or grows with the form change rather than tear, flesh, bone structure, everything changes in the span it would take someone to sneeze. Still, it isn't pretty to watch, the shift happening quick, but not instant, not like how Kitty changes forms. If anything, it looks as if it should be painful, the way the body distorts, but there's no sign that he feels any.
Now, instead of a man grappling the spider, it's a nine foot tall, much heavier-looking beast, an amalgamation of man and wolf -- a werewolf, definitely a werewolf, making Kitty's snap judgement of him right on the dot. He isn't raging, though. He's only trying to pin Saya down, any words he may have said nothing more than growls now. ]
no subject
But she's still a spider, and she's quick like one. She spin in circles, unsure for a moment - where the hell did the food go - but then she's skittering, trying to move up the wall, trying to slip past the werewolf, and get out of the garage-
-but she's hungry, famished, and he finally does manage to pin her. Her exoskeleton splits like an eggshell, and spiders drip out of it, oozing, until all there's left is a pile of spiders taking the shape of a girl, and firming up next to him.
She's curled up, naked, and her eyes are closed for a moment.]
I'm hungry.
[There's no emotion in her voice. She sounds like she's utterly devoid of a soul.]
no subject
Hesitantly, cautiously, with fear giving way to nervous curiosity, she asks: ]
What's...wrong with her? Why did that happen to her?
no subject
He stops, frozen for a few seconds, waiting, but nothing more comes.
He can relax, though he doesn't change back, not yet. It's always been a tiring feat for him, to jump between forms too quickly. An ear does twitch towards the hummingbird, even as he looks around the garage until he spots a blanket typically used for pulling over one vehicle or another.
He'll get that before answering, draping it across Saya once he has it. ]
This is what she always was, only she never knew.
[ The voice is purely mental, his jaws and teeth no longer the right shape to properly speak. ]
no subject
Her scent - the scent of the girl that she was - is fading quickly, dissipating, only remaining on the things she touched. She stares at him and then at the hummingbird, and she looks down at her hands.]
I'm hungry.
[She says it a little more firmly. She moves under the blanket, pulls it up over her shoulders, and reaches for a tool; something lying around.
And she gashes her hand open.
Her blood is blue.
She looks up at the both of them.]
I'm not like you.
What am I?
[That's curiosity speaking.]
no subject
But, instead, to the werewolf: ]
Can she hear you? Do I need to...translate?
