Agito had been acting somewhat suspiciously over the past few weeks but Akito had left him alone, knowing that whatever his other half was up to would be revealed eventually. And with his birthday having come and gone without incident (he and Agito split some pastries and went to the park to play - so, all in all, a good day was had) Akito had no reason to suspect Agito's behaviour had anything to do with it.

Right up until they get back to the school that evening and Agito promptly directs him to the gymnasium.

If he had known there was going to be a party, Akito would have dressed up in something a bit nicer than a pair of coveralls and sneakers.

PRE-PARTY
It's early afternoon and there are a lot of things in need of setting up! While Agito had snuck in last night and set up an area for multiplayer games (some variant of Rock Band being notice amidst the gaming chaos) and rigged the sound system up, there was still the matter of setting up seating, food tables, a pinata, and various other stupid and silly generic 'birthday party' activities.

And whatever else Alison deigned necessary, of course.

Also feel free to deposit any gifts on a small table set aside just for that purpose. If the gift is more practical (like baked goods) it can go on the food table.

PARTY
Sub-Selections

Food Table -- piled with a mix of finger-food appetizers and a good amount Japanese-style cuisine. And a RAMEN BAR! And a There are also a selection of non-alcoholic beverages available ranging from healthier juices to different flavours of soda pop. There is also a delicious looking strawberry cake. :9

Video Games -- rigged up in a corner with some comfortable seating. Genres range from first-person shooters to racing to co-op fantasy to random, entertaining indie games.

Karaoke -- a party isn't a party without people making fools of themselves with a karaoke machine.

Pinata -- people with blindfolds and blunt-force weapons trying to bash something open for candy. Nothing can go wrong here.

Twister -- because why not?

Dancing -- self-explanatory for a party, hopefully!

Wildcard/Etc. -- whatever other starter selection you can come up with! This log is meant to be a free-for-all, so do what you'd like.


POST-PARTY
After everything is over there's still a mess to clean up!

Akito - regardless of how sleepy he may be by the time things wind down - will stick around to help tidy things up. He will also make sure to very sincerely thank every single guest for coming (doubly so if they brought him a gift!) and offer any leftover food items they might like to take with them.

Carl's not the best at parties. And frankly, what has happened during the siege has made him bitter, and Carl is not exactly the most pleasant person to be around when he's in a mood. But he was invited, and while Carl knows next to little about these two guys (are they two guys? they look like one person), he suppose he shouldn't just not show up when he's said he would. That's what Abraham call a Grade A Dickery right there.

So he shows up. It's a big party, considering.

The first thing he does is go to the food table, to pick out the various helpings. Then later on, he spends a good portion at the party at the video games. Because of his injury, he's not very good at shooters as he used to be, so he tries different kind of games, like platformers.

After the party is over, Carl helps out to clean up. He's used to pulling his own weight, even if it's just a party. ]

[ Akito isn't the best at parties if only in the sense that he doesn't know what to do with himself at them. And he really isn't one to enjoy being the center of attention, but he does enjoy being around people; watching them, listening to them, interacting with them. It's a drastic change from his life in his cage back home, and one he'll never tire of.

He recognizes Carl of course - he works at the shelter, and rooms at the school as well. There's no way he would be so inattentive as to miss something like that. That Agito invited him is a surprise (then again, Agito inviting anyone is a surprise) but if Akito had been in charge of invites he would have done the same. Carl is around his age, cares for animals, and doesn't seem to take the simple things for granted.

Akito decides that the best thing to do is to co-op with Carl in a video game. Regardless of the genre, Akito is almost unfairly good at them, but he tends to avoid shooter games himself. He holds up whatever this universe's version of Portal 2 is for Carl to see. ]

[ Carl looks up and sees Akito, the birthday guy. He nods at the game Akito is holding. ]

I've done my share, but I don't think I played that game before.

[ He scoots further down on the couch, giving Akito some room to sit down. ]

[ akito gets the game ready to go, then plops down in the space on the sofa left for him. ]

We'll be playing as robots who have to solve puzzle challenges using portal guns.

[ Raina does feel a little awkward attending. This is definitely not her scene at all, but since Agito had gone out of his way to invite her, she figures she should at least make an appearance. She arrives with a large platter of vegan cookies (they taste just as good as the real thing, she will insist!) and a wrapped gift containing: this. She didn't really know Akito too well to know what he was into, but it seemed stylish to her -- something a boy his age might like.

As soon as she arrives, she looks around for either the birthday boy, someone she knows, or someone her age. Raina, of course, doesn't like feeling like the old one. ]

[ Raina is another surprise, but a pleasant one. It makes him feel warm and content to think of how much attention Agito had paid to who he's spoken to and enjoyed conversing with. That Agito cares enough to do something so against his usual nature... Needless to say, Akito is happy. And it shows when he hurries over to greet her with a bright, cheery smile. ]

Miss Raina! Hi!

Akito. Happy birthday!

[ She greets him with a smile and then offers the present. ]

I got you a little something. I hope you like it.

[ She sets the cookies down as well, popping off the plastic lid so that they're there for everyone else's enjoyment. ]

Thank you! And thanks for coming! There should be more adults coming soon... [ he's momentarily baffled by the gift. ]

Am I supposed to open it now, or later?

[Alison has been bustling around making sure things run smoothly, but she pauses when she spots Raina from across the room. She moves in a bit closer, just to make sure she's not mistaking her for someone else.]

Raina?

[ A beat. Raina looks up and is so relieved to see another adult here. ]

Alison! I didn't know you knew Akito.

[ Not that she actually sits around following Akito's social life. ]

[Yayoi is prompt, of course. It'd just be shameful for a tuner to be late to . . . well, anything. She sets a carefully wrapped gift on the table and makes her way towards the karaoke machine to investigate the song options available.]

[ there is a ridiculously good selection of songs available, thanks to Akito's super nerdy bff. he isn't surprised to find Yayoi investigating it and wanders over with some of the healthier appetizers on a little plate to share. ]

[ Hiro is still messing with the karaoke system when he gets there. In his defense, it's a bigass karaoke system, with huge speakers (spliced in by yours truly) and all the songs he could download off the internet in addition to the usual set. ]

[ Is his cheerful response to seeing his friend. The rest of the crowd he's a bit shy around. Hence the nerding. ]

[ as much as Akito thinks karaoke is awesome and fun, he's much more excited to see his friend than he is the impressive electronic system. he hurries over to practically tackle him in a hug, brimming with - somewhat nervous - energy. ]

Hiro! Thanks! Agito must have been planning this for a while, ne? [ because he is pretty sure he knows who is responsible for getting Hiro to bring a karaoke system ]

[ Hiro laughs and almost falls over. he has to brace himself against the karaoke machine to stay up. ]

You got it. He's the one who said I oughta bring this - totally sick, right?

[Alison presides over the whole affair with a pleasant smile and a sharp eye for any potential issues. She helps people with food, makes the rounds to make sure there aren't any issues with any of the activities, and generally tries to keep everything on schedule and running smoothly.

A brightly coloured and meticulously wrapped present sits on the appropriate table with her name signed to it as well.

When it comes to clean up, things go fairly quick thanks to her cleanliness inducement ability. Not such a useless power after all, especially if it means she saves money on the cleaning crew!]

[ Akito knows that Alison is the one to thank for the party, and once things have settled down and he's an enjoyable sort of drowsy from all the fun that's been had, he hurries over to give the woman a sleepy hug. ]

Thank you for the party, Miss Alison!

Oh, it was nothing. I'm just glad you had a nice time, Akito.

[She returns the hug quickly, and manages to focus on the ramen bar at the same time, leaving the whole set-up sparkling clean after ten seconds. Thank goodness for multi-tasking!]

[Manolo is charmed by the whole affair -- Alison's decorations, the food, the array of games and activities (including a pinata! How cute...), not to mention the fun energy radiating off of everything. He may not have a lot of experience with 21st-century birthday parties, but he knows not to come empty-handed. When he arrives, he's carrying a box that contains an assortment of churros, flan, and a piece of tres leches cake from his favorite local Mexican restaurant.

Naturally, the karaoke machine is what draws his attention the most during the day. Since he doesn't know so many of the modern songs, he falls back on gleefully belting out Beach Boys songs when left to his own devices for too long.

Of course, he makes sure to approach Akito once he sees the birthday boy is free.] Happy birthday, amigo! Are you having fun?

[ akito can feel agito's smug pride over the karaoke machine - his other half knew it would be a hit with both akito and their friends. the beach boys are one of akito's favourites, and he lingers nearby whenever manolo sings their songs.

occasionally he joins in from where he watches, singing with a surprisingly good voice, but quietly. it's hard to break the habit of needing to be quiet when singing or humming, even after years away from home. ]

Thanks! I am having lots of fun! I'm glad you came. Hiro did a good job with the karaoke machine, ne?

He really did! [Manolo hasn't had many chances to speak to the boy, but it's fair to say that imPorts know he's brilliant.] I had never seen anything like that before today, but it's a lot of fun!

[Riku was kind of unsure about what to bring, honestly. But eventually he settled on something simple, a pink bunny hat and the presence of both of his pigs (the original one, Yamada, and the new one, a little pink pig named Hamma), outside in the little grassy area behind the gym. They're content to hang around and eat the food he brought with him for them (mixed salads). The hat is left wrapped up in a bag with a cute pattern with the rest of the gifts.

Riku himself kind of wanders -- he sticks mostly to activities where he doesn't have to feel like an idiot, though, which for him means video games and food. He can also be found simply sitting and watching everyone, too. He's a pretty unassuming party guest.]

[ upon seeing Riku, Akito is quick to hurry over and give him a friendly greeting. ]

Hi, Riku! You brought Yamada-tan with you, ne? Benji will be happy to see him again!
