[ Miles has given Jim some time to meet Spock on his own terms - nearly an entire day, in fact - but he's been itching this whole time, annoyed by the Vulcan and various other things. (He can't shake the feeling he's being watched more recently - paranoia? Maybe? Probably, but it doesn't stop him from jumping at his own reflection sometimes.) Besides, he's feeling almost stir crazy with nothing going on. It's lovely when Gregor is there, but sometimes Miles needs some fresh air ...

Which he does by just turning up on Jim's doorstep. No text, no warning, no nothing. ]

Jim? Are you in?

[overemotionally]

[Oh boy oh boy did he understand that annoyance at Vulcans. That knock on his door was a surprise though. He sat up on his bed, book in hand and--was that Miles?

He checked his device and no, no messages from him. He tossed that on his desk and put his book down (facedown so he wouldn't lose his page) and opened the door.]

Hey, everything okay?

[He opens the door wider to let Miles in.]

[ Miles brushes right past him like he owns the place. Arms folded over his chest, clearly annoyed as all hell. But ... not at Jim. No, definitely not. Jim is a comrade-in-arms on this subject. ]

Your Vulcan is annoying. How the hell do you stand him?

[overemotionally]

[Jim watches him march right in and quirks an eyebrow.]

First of all: not my Vulcan. Second: I know. Third: I don't really.

[He shuts the door behind him.]

He is absolutely your Vulcan. You're a captain now, and that makes him yours.

[ He finds a couch to flop on, sprawling out to take up as much space as he possibly can. ]

So that test wasn't your first conflict with him?

[Kirk decided not to meet with Tex at one of his usual places since uh, they all basically fell under the category of places she didn't seem to want to go to. So he chose someplace a little nicer, a bit more urban industrial appearing. He's sitting towards the end of the bar waiting for Tex to show up but he's totally not expecting her to, just in case.]

[ She shows up. Maybe not on time, but she's there. Punctuality normally is something she practices on the belief that her time is worth something and thus, she extends that same courtesy to others. This time? She's decided to loosen her standards because part of her doesn't think Jim will actually be there.

And yet he is. She spots him near the end of the bar and heads straight for him, sliding into the stool beside him. At least the place he picked isn't some craphole. ]

Already have your tab opened? [ Because yes, she's going to take him up on that free drink. ]

[overemotionally]

[Well shit, there she was. Call Kirk pleasantly surprised as he shifts to face her, looking at her.]

Nice to see you too. And yeah. [He waves the bartender over as he grabs his own drink--scotch neat--and takes a sip.]

Since you're actually in here risking being seen sitting next to me, I'm gonna take that as tentative approval of my choice of bar.

[ She orders herself a shot of nice tequila and slams it back before motioning for another. For now she leaves it on the bar, ready for her next drink. ]

It's a nicer one than I thought you'd pick. Have you been here before?

Day after his arrival

[overanalytically]

[ There is a polite knocking at the door of Heropa #011 (though Spock is more used to door chimes). ]

[overemotionally]

[Jim was expecting Spock and was sitting on the couch reading a book while he waited. He hears the knock and puts his book facedown on the couch so he wouldn't lose his page. He opens the door with a quick "Hey" and moves out of the way to let him in, shutting the door behind him to scoop up the book from the couch and lead Spock back towards his room.]

[ He nods politely to Jim's "Hey" and follows him back into his room. He notes the book Jim has though, discreetly trying to read the cover as they enter his room. ]

[It's "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley, a classic dystopian novel that Jim is glad to finally read in actual paper form. He's been slowly collecting some classics while he's here. Why not?

He opens the door to his room and lets Spock in, dogearing his book and tossing it onto his desk, moving his desk chair away from the desk and facing the bed, an invitation for Spock to sit as he goes to his bed to sit cross-legged.]

What do you want to start with?

[ There is a knock on H#11's door at precisely five minutes before seven o'clock. ]

[overemotionally]

[Give him a couple seconds, Spock, he was expecting you exactly 5 minutes later. He opens the door and moves aside to let him in, already knowing who he'd find. His way of greeting?:]

I thought you said "1900". [Kidding of course as he turns to lead Spock inside towards his room.]

[overanalytically]

[ He steps in with an eyebrow already raised. ]

It is logical to arrive early so that we may begin promptly on time.

[Dammit that totally made sense. Jim just sighed in acknowledgment of that point because what else can you do when a Vulcan makes a logical point that even a human deemed logical? He led Spock into his room where a crudely made newly finished wooden 3D chess board sat on the desk near an open window, small can of varnish sitting near it and not entirely closed--what Jim had been working on when Spock knocked. He shuts the door behind Spock.]

3/25/16 KASUMI--Maurtia Falls

[The word "captain" still didn't sit right with him, as he texts Kasumi once he's arrived at the shady little bar. Interesting--it was right up his alley. He's still not sure how he feels that she knew one of his multiverse parallels and wonders how different they were while he waits for her, ordering a scotch neat for himself.]

[ Truth to tell, she doesn't know the last Jim Kirk who walked around these parts so well that she could give an in-depth analysis of how he and this Jim Kirk are different; however, she does think he (the last one, and this one) is rather charming, otherwise she wouldn't be here tonight. And if nothing else? Kasumi's been around long enough to know the oddness of alternate timelines and multiverses and all that. When something sounds kooky to a lady from space from the future where galactic life is threatened by a sentient race of giant robotic cuttlefish, then shit is truly out of whack.

On a slower night like this, it would be easier to spot her coming in through the door. Except that it's not because she enters invisibly as she so often tends to do, and only reveals herself, hooded as she is, as her tactical cloak glimmers off when she slips into the bar stool next to his. ]

I'll have what he's having.

[overemotionally]

[Jim nearly falls off the damned stool when someone just decides to materialize next to him.]

Jesus... Couldn't warn a guy first?

[ Kasumi merely leans over to rest her elbow on top of the bar, and then her chin in her hand. There's a small grin across her lips that says she revels in the jump she just gave him. ]

Aw, why would I want to do that? That's a lot less fun for me.

MOAR SHENANIGANS

[ Spock arrives at Herpoa 11 five minutes before his appointed time for Jim's telepathy session, as per usual. He steps up to the door and knocks politely. ]

[overemotionally]

[Jim opens the door quickly from there--he's learning--and invites Spock inside, leading him back to his room where everything is all set up minus lighting the candle. The 3D chess board is complete and set up on his desk.]

[ Follows just a step behind, moving to take his usual place then. ]

[He sits in his usual spot. Elbow propped on his knee, hand under his cheek as he just looks at Spock for a bit, trying to contemplate how to say what he's going to say.]
