[semi-open] just your average ordinary everyday superhero

WHERE: Varies.
WHEN: Throughout early February.
WHAT: Monthly catch-all; mostly learning about his powers and going to a gay bar.

[OOC: Starters in the comments - please hit me up on plurk or by PM if you'd like to do something, or just toss up a starter. He works at the Heropa Hospital as security, frequents coffee shops, and goes to the gym a lot, so running into him any of those places is totally valid.]

M; coffee date and powers training
After a bit of research on nearby coffee places, he finally shoots a text off to M with the location of a particularly cool one. It's steamworks-themed, with an espresso bar that functions off steam power, and they have a few really cool flavours. By the time M walks in, Eddie's already secured them a nice little table, and he stands up, beckoning M over.]
Hey! What do you think? I mean, I'm usually a coffee guy but have you seen their tea latte menu? I need to try the rose tea one.
[Despite the comment, he plops back down in his seat and gestures at the spot across from him, for M to sit down. The smile is still firmly in place on his face, and he leans forward over the table.]
Just let me know what you want. My treat. Obviously.

Well hello to you too, Eddie Eddie. I think that you've found a spot worthy of our time.
[To his heightened senses, the coffee hangs in the air so thick he can pretty much taste it.]
And I can't say I'm one for tea, but I'm always up for a new experience.
[He stuffs his bag beneath the table and sits down, positioning himself in such a way that he has a clear view of both Eddie and the menu board (...and the door, but it's less obvious he's keeping an eye on that like the paranoid bastard he is. He doesn't actually suspect anything was going to happen, but it was still habit, especially in new places).]
Well I did earn it. Hopefully between my company now and my implants later I can earn myself a second date.

His smile broadens a little and he lets out a soft huff that's not quite a laugh when M uses his nickname, shaking his head.]
Glad to hear it. It seemed like a pretty cool place, and I hear you have good taste.
[A little smirk, and he gestures at the menu board, where M seems to be looking already.]
Well, even if it's not the tea, there's a bunch of really cool flavours. I mean, I've never seen pistachio at a coffee bar before.
[He lets M get settled in, a brow raising at that wording - whenever M flirts with him, or makes comments like that, he feels a bit unsettled. The attention is nice, but there's always that slight pang, that moment of longing he generally attributes to missing Iris and the romance in his own life. But he pushes that aside, forcing a little laugh.]
I'm sure you never have problems earning second dates, M. [A beat.] Anyway, decided on a drink?

If choosing not to eat the food preferences of a small child means I have taste, then somehow I'll just have to live with that burden.
Hmm.... How about that toasted pistachio macchiato with chocolate syrup specialty drink.
Cisco; powers tests
But he's promised Cisco he'll give him a chance to run a few tests, so after a companionable grocery trip, he makes the suggestion that they could look into it now. Cisco agrees, and Eddie heads up to his room to change into a tank top and a pair of sweats, some sneakers, uncertain what to expect.
Slipping into the garage - a place he has so far completely avoided for fear of screwing up one of Cisco's inventions - he glances around, pushes the door shut behind him.]
Cisco? Hey, you still wanna do this?
no subject
Yeah-huh, just gimme a sec. Putting some finishing touches on the tracking algorithms for what we're gonna work on.
no subject
Wow. That looks complicated.

[ He looks up and grins. ]
So, are you any good at basketball?
Jeff; you, i wanna take you to a gay bar
He's not dumb enough not to realize that a bar called 'Balls Deep' is probably a gay bar, but it doesn't particularly bother him. He's been out to gay bars before, though not since he transferred to Central City - that was more of a college-era thing, but he it's all pretty fond memories he's not hesitant to relive. He just makes sure to clean up really nice - a white dress shirt, dark blue vest, and a dark blue tie to match, nicely-fitted slacks, comfortable shoes.
After he meets up with Jeff as agreed, they make their way to the club, and he's shifting from foot to foot, a little anxious.]
So, you go here a lot?
omg i'm sosorry
Jeff doesn't brush up so bad himself, although he's a little more casual in his pale blue shirt, skinny jeans and ankle high sneakers. It's a look that'd make some middle aged men look try-hard, and yet somehow he manages to pull it off with ease. Gotta look good for his adoring public, after all.]
Not a whole bunch, maybe once or twice a month. They're pro imPort and I have so many fans here that I get free drinks all night. You might even pick up a few new fans of your own.
[The door man doesn't even hesitate in allow them in, door opening to reveal a deep thump of music.] You look great by the way.
Karen; the best pizza places
So, after a really pleasant conversation that caught him by surprise a few times, piqued his interest, it wasn't a hard choice to ask Karen to hang out when she mentioned an affinity for pizzerias and movies. After she agreed and he made the call that he'd come meet her in De Chima, she agreed to meet him at the Porter, and so here he is.
Stepping out of it, wearing a Henley, jeans, and dark brown leather jacket, he glances around, trying to catch sight of her. They've had video conversations, but people always look a little different in person - still, she's not hard to spot, and he waves, jogging over to her with a smile on his face.]
Hey! Pleasure to meet you in person!

She's flown most her way to the military base, getting to it on foot after just so nobody sees her hovering about in midair. They're right on the edge of downtown, so walking back won't be an issue. ]
Same to you. Always nice to actually meet a person in the flesh. [ She's got on a brown peacoat, cream crewneck and a pair of black jeans. The first thing most people tend to notice about her is how tall she is, even for a woman. She reaches 5'10" in flats alone.
She extends a hand. ] Though I find imPorts run into one another at some point.

No kidding. It's a lot easier to talk to people on the network, but I was starting to get cabin fever cooped up in my room trying to get a handle on my powers. There's only so much bad luck I want to visit on new friends, you know?
[He lets go of her hand and drops his own to his sides, smile still in place as he nods.]
Guess that makes sense, we're kind of like a little community in a lot of ways, right? I haven't been here long enough to get a real feeling for how things work. [A beat.] Especially when I've been underwater for half my time here. [He shakes his head, and gestures away from the base.] Shall we? Sorry, I'm stuck with transit for now, if that's okay with you?

[ She sort of hopes his bad luck doesn't befall them today. She really wants a pizza that isn't cursed with some kind of terrible luck.
When he brings up the kidnapping, there's an awkward laugh from her that follows. She was in costume the entire time she was kidnapped with the rest of them, but she worries every now and then someone might have caught onto the fact Karen Starr was listed as kidnapped though not spotted in the cell. So far so good, though... ]
At least that's over. Transit is fine; I commute mostly to get around so it doesn't bother me.
