[ She gives a little laugh and brushes her (mussed) hair behind her shoulders. ]

Excuse you. I'm far better than just fine. I'm brilliant and gorgeous and charming. I've got a fresh and natural beauty, thanks.

[ And then she drops her mock-arrogant pose. ]

But - you know. She's so pretty. In just such a flawless way. - Do you like Saya, though?

[ Huh. She casts her eyes over at Nicolas, her glance sidelong and calculating. ]

Just okay...?

But you spend a lot of time together, don't you? More time than I see her spending with anyone else, at least.

So you are friends.
rathercommon: (incredulous)

[personal profile] rathercommon 2016-02-20 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
Well, normally, you describe your friends as better than oh yeah she's just okay.
rathercommon: (chatting)

[personal profile] rathercommon 2016-02-21 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, actually, I think there sort of is. When you describe something as just okay, usually you actually mean bad, don't you?
rathercommon: (ummm whatever though)

[personal profile] rathercommon 2016-03-02 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Describing someone as okay has always been bad! It's like - that one - maxim. Oh, what was it, I read about it not so long ago...
rathercommon: (pensive)

[personal profile] rathercommon 2016-03-02 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
It was one of someone-or-other's maxims. It's one of the principles of proper etiquette in language, where if you just sort of state something normally where overstatement is the norm, then it'll be taken as negativity...basically.
rathercommon: (ummm whatever though)

[personal profile] rathercommon 2016-03-03 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, and now you sound sarcastic!
rathercommon: (bullshit detected)

[personal profile] rathercommon 2016-03-03 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah...Romance movies.
rathercommon: (ummm whatever though)

[personal profile] rathercommon 2016-03-03 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Pity. I think you could do with a bit of romance in your life.

[ Says the giant hypocrite. ]

Anyway, I guess I was hoping for something a little more informative than...noncommittal grunts.
