CLOSED

WHO: Hisoka and Ken
WHERE: Heropa
WHEN: 02/01
WHAT: Lunch and rehab duels?
WARNINGS: Sexual implications with minors, so... General Hisoka warning. He's hanging around with a kid and isn't subtle.

No, he's not subtle at all.

Infact, he spends a little while just watching the boy from afar. The sort of looks no one should really give someone that much younger than them, the sort of looks that gave reason for parents to teach their kids about strangers. Unfortunately though, Hisoka is supposed to meet Ken here, but he doesn't mind waiting a little bit longer to oogle. Which he does, unabashedly.

He'll stand not too far away, leaning up against a wall with his arms crossed, legs crossed at the ankles. Perhaps Ken will feel it though, eyes on him, drinking him in up and down till he feels his skin prickle and his heart race. Hisoka's aura is partially to blame for the eerie feeling Ken will get though, adding a slight chill to the air as he enjoys the way the boy moves and pulls at his joints. It's been so long since he's seen him in action, nnhh... already he can feel it. This desire for him, Ken was still so far from being as perfect as he could be, but watching him now had his skin tingling. His hands gripped a little tighter into his arms as he slid his gaze down...

Though it wasn't completely just staring for the enjoyment of it. Ken mentioned something about rehab for his body, so he will notice it. There's a strain to the boy's movements. One of his arms not acting as flexible as the other. His poor shoulder... it must have been quite the injury, Hisoka sure hopes it isn't permanent.

It's a recognizable feeling, but not one to throw off his chill as much as before. He pauses when he senses him, then finishes up the last stretch he was doing before straightening and shaking himself out, turning just his head to where Hisoka is waiting. How long had he actually been there? He sighs as he starts to walk toward him, rubbing at the shoulder with his other hand.

"You could've said if you were here," he protests, knowing that it's pointless. "Are you ready?"

Mature, sure, and probably some terrible levels of reckless. Hisoka hasn't fallen into the category of things to be afraid of in a few months now, and he doesn't see a point in being afraid of something he deliberately sought out. They have an arrangement.

"Do you mean Koromaru or Minato-san? They're both doing fine. You're actually concerned?"

"Maybe he saw how much of a creep you were, Hisoka-san."

Ken doesn't even blink as he looks up and answers. He's not relaxed, per se, but he's clearly not worked up, Evoker hooked to his side and hands in his pockets as he strolls alongside him.

"You're pretty bad."

Minato didn't tell him. Of course Minato didn't tell him. And while Ken doesn't make a grand reaction, he visibly tenses, then his face scrunches up in an obviously disturbed, grossed out look. Ugh!

"I didn't need to know that."

"Maybe."

Ken's disgruntled face turns annoyed at the idea. He wasn't happy how Minato's arrangement with Hisoka came about in the first place, and he's still not happy with it. He's not annoyed, but even then -- he sighs loudly, but continues to follow.

"It's not him you're walking with this time."

"Well, it isn't rehab if I don't do it multiple times, so that's what I was hoping to establish."

He decides not to argue the fact that it was Hisoka who turned him away first, huffing at the laughter he keeps getting from him and marching down the street, keeping his attention on the man next to him so he knows when to turn, when to cross the road.

"Do you know any healers that can grow back muscle?"

There's one person Ken already has in mind: Tadashi. But considering what he understood of his healing powers, that ability used on any injury like his could easily harm Tadashi as a consequence. His was that sort of power, unlike Personas who simply made the user tired. Who thought it would be a good idea to give a power like that to Tadashi Hamada anyway? He was made from a mold in the same family as Jaime and Minato; it's like the nanites knew he'd make use of it whenever possible, no matter what he cost. Ken couldn't allow that. So he looks to Hisoka with more than a little bit of curiosity as he receives that affirmative.

"Do you think you could introduce me? I'll explain to them myself, but this isn't something my powers can fix."

Dia skills could stitch together what was still there and compensate for some lost tissue, but nothing something as large as this.

They don't look related, and they sure don't look friendly enough to be nephew and uncle, or even adopted family, either. The way Hisoka looks at Ken, and the challenging way in which Ken looks back, can be unnerving even watching from the outside in. Ken looks down at his menu as well, picking quickly for anything that looks filling, and swings his feet idly under the table out of habit.

"I'd appreciate that. You can give them my name -- I don't mind. People know me anyway."

"Mad?" At what, Ken himself? He's not about to give an explanation, fake or not, for how he got the injury. He promise his secrecy about Hinami, and he didn't think it was right to put the responsibility on Kaneda no matter what. He was the one who volunteered to do this, and he didn't consult either of them. He shakes his head, then gets up from his seat to walk up to Hisoka. The table to a bit too long to reach him from across it, but from here, he can take one of the man's hands and raise it to his shoulder, pressing his fingers to it from over the shirt.

And there, not visible from over the fabric but clearly able to be felt, is a dip of what can only be a part of his shoulder missing.

"There's nothing for you to be mad about, I promise. I just need to be able to deal with this now."

That's creepy, Hisoka. Even Ken shudders and leans away from that hand when it gets to his face. His face scrunches up and he backs away to his own seat again scowling. You totally were not invited to go that far, mister.

But his face is still firm with determination and conviction as he responds, "Don't worry. I'm not going to break. That's why I need you to help me fight while I'm like this."

"... Sure, maybe if I want to start a clown career, but that won't be in this life."

Help from Hisoka is dangerous in many, many ways. He knows that. Now that he's gotten lectured by his parents once, he has to be more careful.

"But shut up. You also proved that you'll drop me like a rock if you find a shiny new toy, so don't talk yourself up."

"You are a clown. The circus won't want you, but you're a clown."

And he sighs and shakes his head as the server returns to take their orders, ignoring the protest. Sure, Hisoka didn't drop him completely this time, but that doesn't mean he won't. He's known that since the day they started this.

Eventually, it's actually Ken who finally interrupts her with a polite but firm, "We're all right. Could we please have our checks?" He understood and appreciated her concern, but more than that, he was growing concerned for her. It was for the best to get out of here, and get her out of Hisoka's sight. He hopes she's not working the next time the man comes to have a meal here.

The clearing they end up at isn't bad. It's open, unlike the building they were at last time, and it's different. He's fine with that, and he steps forward into it without hesitation. Other people are certainly more afraid for Ken than he is of Hisoka.

"I'm okay. But how much further?"

"..."

Ken continues to walk, but his head is turned away from Hisoka, gazing out at their surroundings. But that doesn't mean he's ignoring the man; with a low, even tone, he answers. Strangely, it's to Hisoka that he's the most honest about this sort of feeling.

"I can't fight as well as I usually could, and it's not an injury i can fix myself. Even if someone could fix it, I still need to find those people. If something happens now, I'm weaker. I can't fight as well.

"I'm... scared, Hisoka-san, of being weak. It's not the same as before. It's because I have things I want to protect. But I can't afford to be weak. If overcoming that means crushing the handicap by raising the level of my 'weakest,' then I'll do it."

Ken knows that, one day, Hisoka will not stand by his side. One day, when Hisoka has had enough of him -- whether it's because he gets bored again, or he's stacked the house of cards high enough to knock it over with satisfaction, one day Hisoka will no longer call himself a 'friend.' He knew the eye Hisoka looked at him with, and he knew the man was just waiting... One day, Hisoka will move to sink his claws in. He was by all means a 'bad guy.'

When they first met, Ken couldn't care less about that. Let him, he used to think. Let him fight as much as he wanted before he killed him. Maybe now that Ken actually cares, it's why he seems a bit more interested than before; like now, he was always strangely encouraging of Ken's desires to live and get stronger, no matter what the motive. As long as Ken kept climbing higher, that was all he cared about, wasn't it? Until he shredded him apart with his own hands, like the prick of the sharp nail on his neck reminded him.

Ken can't afford to die here, no matter what the cause. But he's not afraid of staying by this man no matter how much of a threat he was. He broke his promise with Minato and Jaime to come here, and he may pay for that, but Hisoka -- Hisoka was helpful in his quest to grow stronger. That was all he'd let him be. The glint in Ken's eyes grow brighter, his look harder and more cemented with determination than ever, as he tilts his head at the man (the thin muscles of his neck shift under the long fingers) and nods.

"'Turn your anger into strength.' Is that what you're saying?"

It's not quite alarming, though it does draw a reaction from Ken. His eye narrow, and the muscles in his thin neck shift as he swallows, utterly and completely aware of how the hands tighten around him. If Hisoka put his mind to it, he could snap his neck easily. He could suffocate him and he'll stop him before Ken could even reach for his Evoker.

But in the moment before Hisoka lets go Ken looks straight into his eyes -- not just meeting his gaze, but piercing into them with his own brown ones. There's no fear there. Ken still isn't afraid of death, even with his newfound attachment to life, and his eyes bore into Hisoka's challengingly, as if daring him to do it. Do it. Bring it on. Death can't scare him, not with the knowledge of what his Persona is.

Then the pressure is gone and the air that was momentarily cut off from his lungs surge into his chest and Ken releases the breath he was holding, quickly shifting his feet on the ground to stabilize his stance and waving his hand. Quicker than he had ever before the spear is in his hands and he's thrusting the blade forward, aiming at Hisoka's throat.
