welcome home feast!
WHO: OPEN MINGLE
WHERE: Xavier School Dining Hall
WHEN: January 29, 30; all day both days
WHAT: Cass and Callaghan opened up the school's dining hall for ALL imPorts, -- prisoners, diplomats, military, rescuers, even people who were uninvolved and just want the food -- to come in and recover from the ordeal with warm, free food, blankets gathered from god knows where, and each other.
WARNINGS: This should be relatively tame! But please mark your own warnings in the necessary places.
As announced here, Cass and Callaghan have opened up Xavier School to offer food and a resting place to ALL imPorts! The room is kept warm, and there's food and drinks -- non alcoholic! -- and enough space for a bunch of people to sit around and fill their stomachs. The buffet line is stocked with all sorts of food, and Cass is keeping pots of coffee ready for the people who would prefer that, too. There's no junk food, but she stress baked enough to feed a small country while everyone was gone, so there's plenty of pastries and bread to go around as well.

And at that question.. he looks at his plate. Looks at the person running this. Pushes plate to the side to be collected like the wasteful heathen he is, talking with a mouthful of hard-earned treat like the unmannered heathen he also is.]
Here.

[Not a word or a face at the way he does that. She simply smiles and starts to stack them up, but she doesn't leave with them just yet. And she doesn't look down at him either. With no sudden movements, she crouches so she's kneeled by the table, arms crossed over it to hold her up, and tilts her head at him. She's smiling as she speaks in a language he might be surprised to hear from her.]
You're Tetsuo-kun, right?

It's always impossible to mistake actual Japanese. The mouth matches the sounds, and there's a cadence there that just isn't quite right by the communicator standards. It has to be what it sounds like. That's...
Tetsuo's language doesn't change. He doesn't know more than a handful of English words to begin with.]
You know Japanese??
[Said in that casual way one might use after finding out someone's half-giraffe.]
no subject
[She's just fully switched over now, and she she looks even amused by his reaction, though in absolutely no mean way.]
It's not just you ethnically Japanese people who speak the language. I'm Tadashi and Hiro Hamada's aunt. You know at least one of them, don't you?
no subject
[Half mumbled, somewhat cautiously, into that vanishing treat here. He fought in a war as a fucking favor he deserves this stupid thing.
It's probably for the best that he's never met or heard of Hiro, not that he knows that.]

[He eats like he might get it stolen from him. She watches, but doesn't scrutinize, as she takes a look around to make sure everything is going smoothly.]
I'm Cass. [She even says it with a Japanese pronunciation, more friendly probably on Tetsuo's ears.] It's the first time we've spoken, huh?
no subject
[Which does bring up a question he'd put off in favor of confirming what language she was speaking. He ... he can hope, probably futilely, that somehow she doesn't know him from that one single broadcast. Literally anything else he's put out there, fine. But that most recent one...]
But you've heard of me.
[He hasn't heard of her, he's not saying, but his tone implies it.]

You know the piles of tupperware of food that show up at your house every once in a while? I make those. I've been to your place once or twice.

[That's a way better answer than he'd been expecting. He can work with that.
He could clarify he knows what she's talking about. He could do a lot of things. ....but no, he's apparently picking that specific battle to argue about, albeit in a far quieter voice than he had been. He's staying there now, but...]

Have you had any of the food that I dropped off?
no subject
[Didn't care enough to head downstairs most times, he means, but this is a better answer. It hits that perfect balance between defensively apathetic... and yet honest enough. Maybe the real truth is hinted in the weirdly lackluster way he says it, as if it'd be obviously off limits to him, and he's too tired to put in the effort to take it anyway.]
