WHO: All diplomatic imPorts that have signed up HERE.
WHERE: The capitals of Mexico, South Korea, and France. UN-attending imPorts will be placed in Davos, Switzerland.
WHEN: January 26th.
WHAT: Democracy in motion as imPorts attempt to use their skills of persuasion to convince each government or organization to lend the imPorts - and America - their help. Players may also use this log to play out the long flight over, planning, and other associated activities.
WARNINGS: None anticipated; let us know if we should change this!



Depending on their assignment, all imPort diplomats will find themselves either in Seoul, South Korea; Mexico City, Mexico; Paris, France; or for UN attending imPorts, Davos in the Swiss Alps. They will be housed in the American Embassies and regardless of their Registration status, will be treated as American citizens. UN-attending imPorts will be housed in a hotel close by. Their accommodations will be that of an extremely luxurious hotel, and they will be provided with anything that they should require, be it books on the art of rhetoric, access to state of the art computers and laptops, food or drink. They will also be provided with boardrooms in which the teams may convene to assemble a strategy. Don't be distracted by the free drinks; this is a task that will require clear minds!

After one night of preparation, on January 26th, each team of imPorts will meet with either the government of their assigned nation or the UN. They will be placed at a podium in front of a room full of politicians and diplomats, and will be expected to state their argument. They will be allowed to have an opening speech before each assembly asks each group three questions.

When either the opening speech has been concluded OR the question has been answered to each player's satisfaction, please put QUESTION NEEDED in the subject title of your comment, and we will deliver the next question.

Just remember: an invasion is coming! Even if acquiring the alliance of these governments and organizations do not help with the imPorts' immediate predicament, it will impact the future of the game at large!

[ Francis could honestly care less if the child is looking at him. He's not a baby fancier and having been in the position of doing the kissing baby farce for votes, he isn't any more enamoured. Though he isn't particularly against them.

He nods at Kanaya. ] So long as we don't come across as meek.

[ Kanaya lets out a short chuckle. ] The last thing I could imagine myself doing is coming across as meek! If anything, I'm worried about the opposite.

[ Being a very tall alien with a very hawkish approach to opposition, she probably couldn't make it in this assignment without the baby to take the edge off a little, possibly make her slightly less threatening.

Even if the baby stares at old human men, still not quite sure what to make of them. ]

They're dealing with people who are, indeed, plotting against them, I assure you, very little will frighten them unless you think to be threatening.

I don't anticipate them being frightened. But if we are too aggressive, I do imagine they'll be rather put off.

Still, if they are rightfully concerned with collateral danger imPorts present to this world, this is a bit like sending foxes into the henhouse. [ Only the foxes in this case are mostly vegetarians, and trying to convince the chickens that they can all be friends. ]

Given that the Russian reasoning is the 'imPorts are dangerous' concern, they'll want to see a dangerous imPort. One of those dangers turning up acting normally will throw their objections nicely on their own.

[ She grins, flashing her fangs, and spreads her free hand in a shrug. ]

Well, here I am, then. One tamed monster, ready to order.

Suppose I'll want to prepare some sort of speech, to properly address how safe, or at least focused we can be on the subject.

[ She lets out a sigh. ] Still, it would be more effective if I could meet them while actually looking like myself. Not that I don't understand why we will be nullified, and the importance of that gesture. But I think the point would be more effectively underlined if it could be made by people who are more transparently alien.

The child will change as well?

I'm not really sure. She isn't technically an imPort, having hatched here, and doesn't have any powers to nullify, aside from the porter's tendency to consider any sort of non-human biology a power.

I'm not sure if the nullifiers would have any sort of effect, really. But I suppose I'll have to ask that beforehand.

At the risk of sounding… opportunist, it would possibly be better symbolically if she didn't have to. Assuming she's quiet enough to bring in. [ She's impressively quiet now. ]

Well, she doesn't really cry, I think that's more a mammalian practice. [ Or not really, Kanaya's no stranger to crying, and she's no mammal, either. She gives Ashiah a small bounce, and the grub breaks her stare on Francis to look up at her, letting out a few clicking sounds from her mouth. ]

But I certainly see your point. In all my time as an imPort, I've yet to encounter another who's had a child during their stay. And there isn't any other quite like her in any living universe I know of.

If we ever could have need for a symbol of hope, she's it.

Tell that to birds. [ He shook his head, it was an offhand comment. ]

[ She smiles politely, while Ashiah trills along obliviously to the plans being made for her. ]

I can only hope the Koreans see it the same way. Not even two weeks old, and already she may be showing a considerable impact on this world.

Better to get these things over sooner rather than later, wouldn't you agree?

It seems a little mercenary, that this is how she's introduced to the world. But if that is what's necessary to make it a world she can safely grow up in, I won't turn up my nose at it.

Well, it is, I suppose, but the world could have done us the favour of not declaring war on us, so two wrongs making a right, as much as possible anyway.

And if we're going to fight against that diplomatically, then I suppose hope could be our most powerful weapon. As long as it isn't alone.
