STRANGE, WHERE WERE YOU WHEN WE STARTED THIS GIG?

WHO: All diplomatic imPorts that have signed up HERE.
WHERE: The capitals of Mexico, South Korea, and France. UN-attending imPorts will be placed in Davos, Switzerland.
WHEN: January 26th.
WHAT: Democracy in motion as imPorts attempt to use their skills of persuasion to convince each government or organization to lend the imPorts - and America - their help. Players may also use this log to play out the long flight over, planning, and other associated activities.
WARNINGS: None anticipated; let us know if we should change this!

Depending on their assignment, all imPort diplomats will find themselves either in Seoul, South Korea; Mexico City, Mexico; Paris, France; or for UN attending imPorts, Davos in the Swiss Alps. They will be housed in the American Embassies and regardless of their Registration status, will be treated as American citizens. UN-attending imPorts will be housed in a hotel close by. Their accommodations will be that of an extremely luxurious hotel, and they will be provided with anything that they should require, be it books on the art of rhetoric, access to state of the art computers and laptops, food or drink. They will also be provided with boardrooms in which the teams may convene to assemble a strategy. Don't be distracted by the free drinks; this is a task that will require clear minds!

After one night of preparation, on January 26th, each team of imPorts will meet with either the government of their assigned nation or the UN. They will be placed at a podium in front of a room full of politicians and diplomats, and will be expected to state their argument. They will be allowed to have an opening speech before each assembly asks each group three questions.

When either the opening speech has been concluded OR the question has been answered to each player's satisfaction, please put QUESTION NEEDED in the subject title of your comment, and we will deliver the next question.

Just remember: an invasion is coming! Even if acquiring the alliance of these governments and organizations do not help with the imPorts' immediate predicament, it will impact the future of the game at large!

Get ready, our silver-tongued imPorts, and good luck!

[Jeff's obviously gone for a finely tailored suit to represent his first appearance to the masses, a navy pinstripe paired off with a bright, sky blue tie; refined without being sedate or conservative. The shoes might be considered an odd choice by some, navy suede ankle high sneakers with a sky blue sole, definitely not Oxfords. It's a look he works without it looking overly casual. They're here to show variety, to prove that every single one of them is an individual with needs, just like every single person they'll be speaking to. Kitty's got the idea, she knows how to work it. He's all for a poodle skirt and neck-kerchief.]

Lookin' good. Ready to impress, huh?

[ Kitty smiles back at him - but the expression comes out wrong and it looks a little strained. Kitty has good self-control when it comes to her image, so it's not as bad a smile as it might be, but it is a smile that's born of complete and utter terror. The smile of a girl who just aggressively posts on rumblr being about to address the United Nations. ]

That's the plan, I guess. You look nice, too. The shoes are weird, though.

Uh, excuse you, it's called fashion. [Lifting a foot slightly as if that'll somehow better show off his footwear choice.]

Look around, practically every guy here is suited. I'm not gonna stand out by wearing a suit, individuality comes from the accessories.

Oh.

[ She wrinkles her nose. ]

Is it...What's that called? Peacocking? That men do to attract women.

[A pause like he's seriously considering that question, and then a lopsided shrug.]

You could call it that, sure. 'cept I'm trying to attract everyone, not just the ladies. Isn't that exactly what you're trying to do, Miss poodle skirt?
rathercommon: (danger boy)

[personal profile] rathercommon 2016-01-29 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Ah. Her smile turns a little bit crooked as she smooths down that very skirt. ]

Not quite. I'm trying to attract a particular demographic.

Old, male politicians? [Because he's imagining there's going to be shit loads of those in all this speeching.]
rathercommon: (attentive)

[personal profile] rathercommon 2016-01-29 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[ She shakes her head. ]

No. People who like to see assimilation. Those sorts of people aren't just old male politicians. They're people from all ages.

[And this is proof that Jeff knows practically nothing about the UN, but he'll soon find out.]

Well, if assimilation is the key, I got this this totally under control. How can they not love a guy like me?
rathercommon: (reluctantly amused)

[ Her mouth quirks up. ]

The shoes are...pretty unassimilated. Overall.

Can we stop with the shoes?! They're fine. I'm fine.

[If he keeps telling himself that, maybe he'll stop feeling like he's made a terrible mistake in deciding to come here.]
rathercommon: (chatting)

[personal profile] rathercommon 2016-01-31 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
[ She sees that slight crack in his composure - and she stops herself, and offers him a little smile. ]

No. You absolutely are. I just meant that you offer something a bit more than just assimilation. You offer an individual, don't you.

[It's for the best that she stops, otherwise she'd have a weeping adult on her hands soon enough. As it is, he avoids a downwards spiralling crisis of vanishing self-confidence to instead focus on his amazingness.]

Exactly. Individual. Each imPort is individual. That's what we've got to get across if we ever want the world to stop seeing as some super powered collective of crazies.
