Those should be easier to find.

[ They are, a little, though the section is simply named 'Asian' and it's after an aisle containing more kinds of pasta than could exist even in Italy. ]

It's . . . maybe a little weird. But shopping here feels more foreign than anything else so far. Even more than the communicator controls . . .

[She's squinting at this aisle even more than she did the alarming amounts of meat.]

Ah . . . no, it's definitely foreign. Like stepping into an entirely different world . . .

Flying cars were more normal.

[ Some of these don't look like normal soy sauce at all . . . what did they do to it? ]

[She pauses in front of the section of rice vinegars, picking up one bottle to stare through it.]

I . . . haven't really thought about school yet.

[ It's so much like her own 'I haven't thought about home' that she can't help but laugh a little. ]

It's probably not something we really need to think about, with Heropa being . . . like that. But, I was thinking . . . it might be the first place to find a workshop. Or at least some power tools.

I . . . guess we can see what they have.

I'll do it. Nothing can really be worse than Sister Prima.

And someone should stay around Kazu-kun. You're teammates; that's better, I think.

But I'm just—oh . . . I guess I'm not just a supporter anymore.

You know, I haven't even told Kazu-kun about that yet.

In a week, you could take him out for a run. He'll need to stretch his legs by then.

. . . and if he's wearing running shoes, and you're not . . . it'll just make it a really good run.

I might even be able to keep up with him then.

The only way you won't beat him would be if you don't practice and if he gets up and starts exercising before he's supposed to.

He needs to spend this week resting.

Don't worry, I'll practice. And as for him . . . We can probably just make everyone in the house take turns sitting on him.

After Kaneda-san, though . . . do you think any of them know about Kogarasumaru at all? Maybe being a storm rider is Kazu-kun's secret superhero identity.

[She frowns and sets the vinegar back on the shelf.]

I'm . . . not sure. Maybe he missed it too much to talk about it?

[ She thinks about it, wondering . . . if she was here alone, would she? Would she talk about Ami, and Konomi, and Nana and Hako? Rune, and Makigami-sensei? . . . Kanon? ]

I think . . . that might be right.

And it would be a hard thing, too, to talk about storm riders with people who aren't.

Mm . . . It can be hard to explain even when stormriders are a normal thing.

That's really true. Especially when it's not . . . really . . . the most legal thing. And there's the government here, too.

. . . Is it legal if we're registered?

[resoundingpledge]

. . . there aren't A-T here, so there wouldn't be any ordinances against stormriders specifically. There's probably something for public mischief, or gang activity, but it's not really exactly the same. Defacement of property?

And all the files . . . they kind of seem to say that those are the things the government knows, and the things that they'd like us to use for them. That's why 'Registered Hero', right? So as long as their citizens weren't hurt . . . I think it would be okay.

Mm . . . It's still probably not enough to get Ikki-kun or Kazu-kun to register. . . . It'd be weird if they did anyway.

It would be really weird. Even for you and me . . . even with all of the good things it could mean, it still feels a little like stepping into a cage.

It's exactly like stepping into a cage, but . . . we're already kind of in one. [She traces her finger over the imPort tattoo again.] It's just an enormous one.

. . . this morning, Kazu-kun asked why I was here. Why we were. And I thought . . . really, just, I'm here because Ikki-kun is here.

But I still wonder, a little, why we are. Why we all are.
