The New Neverland

WHO:EVERYONE (EDIT)
WHERE: Heropa or AKA Neverland
WHEN: January 3rd to 5th
WHAT: The rescuers invade Neverland to end the fiendish Peter Pan's plot
WARNINGS: Death is likely to happen, fighting, swearing, probably just going to be 14+ kind of deal.

The time has come to stop Pan. After posting this to the network Peter has all but challenged the imPorts: either look away and don't bother his paradise or come try and stop him.

Preparation

The jungle stands tall and mighty, a fearful and ominous sight to be seen. One can only hope things go smoothly, but this is Neverland after all, a land of endless possibilities which means endless unknown dangers. Take the time to get ready, plan and storm the jungle....you'll need it.

Entering Neverland
You cross the threshold of Neverland's barrier and everything you once knew has all but changed. Where day use to stand all there is is but a perpetual night. You're not sure how you know this but you get the feeling that despite how many days that may go by in his land time will hold still, day will never come. Dark skies with blinking stars and an eerie moon is but your only light here.

The sights before them are this, a jungle, humid and warm. Where Winter's chill had been has all been snatched away by what would be a mild tropical heat. All there are are trees, vines and large leaves far for the eye can see. It takes only a bit of searching to find sources of water and food a like, but remember not everything may be safe to eat. Careful of thorny vines, for it may be Dreamshade, a deadly poison that inhabits Neverland.

If you manage to find the horizon what appears to be a massive lake of water surrounds the entirety of Neverland where no other land can be seen beyond it. An illusion? Perhaps, but who can say with a curse.

For our heroes, our rescuers this may seem odd if not unsettling. For our cursed? It's nothing new, glorious to some maybe but nothing new.

Riddle me this

Wandering the jungle for Peter's riddles? Continue to do so as they will not be given easily. For Peter has set up challenges that would crush and break the weakest and strongest of hearts alike.

The echo caves
The jungle of Neverland is deep and perilous but none such as the Echo caves. Dark and cavernous holes that go deep into the island, the entrance remains open to all who brave it. How the unlucky stumble across it is different for each. Is that Peter Pan gadding you to come catch him and running inside? Or is it someone you cherish most dear fleeing inside from you? However it happened, inside is damp and dark. The name does not lie for the caves do echo, but not with the sound of your own voice or noises caves make but the voices of others. You hear it in your brain, creeping in like a tangled vine telling you the only way out is to reveal the darkest secret you hold close to your chest, that no one must know. All victims of the cave must say their secret or else be trapped within its walls forever....but not without a catch. Revealing the secret does not simply get you out. For those that you are with now must resist the temptations of the sweet and venomous voices that speak into their ear. They suggest to let their feelings out, to act upon rage or despair or some other hideous feeling towards the secret teller and the secret they held. If all resists though and all secrets let out the secret riddle is spoken and if one has it, the map is unlocked.

The riddle being: I'm separate but close, I am small but I am big.

Dark Hollow
Stumble through the darkness and one would surely find light somewhere, wouldn't they? Perhaps from torch light from Peter's followers? Or even the forever full and silver moon in the sky? But, the further you journey into this part of the jungle, the more the light dies. Light that people conjure also snuff out as quickly as they were lit.

Take a pause to try and get the light back but it only takes a second to look away when they come out. Shadows, living shadows, come out from behind trees and from out of dark corners. They circle like sharks in the water around the victims who so stupidly wandered into their hallow. Welcome, to Peter Pan's den of stolen shadows of unfortunate victims.
They lunge without a thought, attacking and clawing at the people invading this space. They throw sharpened wooden spears, try and grab and throw people into trees and worse off, steal your shadows to add to Pan's collection. They make no sound, only faint and ghostly whooshes accompany them as they fly about. Fight them if you can, but if fire is introduced or a container with a flame they make short work of these evil creatures....and once capture or made to flee they're ghostly whooshes become hollow voices, whispering silently: The only form of rescue they have is a message in a bottle when they are lost but live on me.

The map will be unlocked if it has not already.

Mermaid Lagoon
Water, is a valuable thing to have and in a jungle where it is hard to find? Well, worry no more because a pure spring of the clearest blue water stands before you. Drink, refresh yourselves or just be cautious as with the other dangers of Neverland it doesn't matter. Because the moment you arrive at this spring it's power takes effect.

What use to be foliage and water around you turns to the fears that haunt your very heart. They live and breathe before you, speaking to you, being there before you. It's just like Crane's fear gas all over. Allies may appear to be monsters and what do we do with monsters? The fears are yours and only you can act upon them appropriately.

However, through your own will or the strength of those beside you can help you cut through the dark mirror. When it shatters the fragments of the broken illusion sing to you and you hear the words of a riddle:

I am a horror in which all mortal life makes.

The map will be unlocked if it has not already.

Otherwise you may flee....but you will never hear the shards of of a fear triumphed sing.

Grove of Pixie dust trees
The horrors of Neverland truly never cease, do they? But, rest must be taken if you wish to stop Pan, isn't it? These grove of trees seem nice, don't they? Nothing harmful about them. That would be a naive to think because once more does Neverland play it's evil. The dark magic of this place seeps into your senses, poison that fills the mind and the heart. Shadows of dark and deep regrets that left a wound on your heart that never healed take form here and become solid. It's like a film you relive far too vividly.

The regret may burn in your heart and make you want to flee and you can but the brave face their regrets and admit and accept them. Once you do the regret fades away speaking in the voice of those you let down of the last piece of the riddle:

You may not use me when you think, but you're awfully glad I'm there.

But, you should run, who wants to face their regrets? It'll just mean Pan can keep his paradise.

For the cursed
But these troubles and riddles are for those pesky Rescuers. Peter's cursed victims will have been informed to stop the Rescuers from making it to these locations.

Other things to do

Shadows like in the Hallow roam the island.
They appear as any other person, someone you love, miss or anyone under the sun. They may find you heroes, you rescuers, they may not but if they do they have things to say. The shadows will try and make the Rescuers despair or they will ask for you to leave Neverland with them to go home. The lies they say sound convincing and they'll offer a hand for you to flee with them. Take it, and the shadow will smile evilly and begin to try and rip your shadow from you so you may join the pile of Peter's victims and have your shadow join his fold. Having friends will help ignore the shadow's influence or perhaps they can just go the forward route and just shoot it.

The hunt is on
Lost Children and Peter's employees you have an important task of hunting the defectors, Cursed adults and children not affiliated with Pan, and the Rescuers themselves. For fun or for duty of course. Cursed imPorts are armed with their own own powers and weapons with dreamshade, a lethal poison that will kill they are a force to be reckoned with, otherwise all the regular citizens who had been cursed will only have bow and arrows, swords, spears, and other primitive like dipped in the fatal dreamshade. The poison can be cured but only with plenty of healing or the waters of Neverland on deadman's peak. Be wary of them dear Rescuers because you may stumble upon on of the camps Peter's Children or employees have.

Stir the memories
It's only a matter of time until you run into someone you knew. However you found one of the cursed, coming across their camp, in the wilderness, however it is only a matter of time. If a rescuer's connection is deep with the cursed old memories may surface a bit and cause conflict inside the other. It's not enough to break the curse but maybe it's enough to for them to side with our dear heroes...or fight harder against them.

Campsites
Like the music Peter's played before there are camps that play the same entrancing music. Far stronger than it was over the network it compels you to come join in the fun, rescuers. Forget your troubles and just have fun and dance...but be aware that if you stay too long you'll be dragged away and locked up. Resisting is possible but are you capable of doing that.

However, with our dear cursed individuals this is your respite from the hunt. Peter may be here to talk with you, to reassure or to plot. But, this is also your time to socialize with your cohorts and remember how much you enjoy Neverland.

MISC
Anything and everything goes in this section. Come up with things to do in Neverland. A breather, a fight, your own plans whatever you make of it. Just remember to keep it in the confines of Neverland.

(OOC:Update: Information on the plot here, the plot is now open to everyone. Details may be found here as to why.)

[Another time, Jaime would retort that's because you are short, squirt, but things here have gotten a little too dire for even that sort of good natured teasing. Ken marched in here after someone he'd wanted to protect was killed brutally, openly, and Jaime's not entirely certain how well he's doing.

So instead, he's jovial as he says,]
You shouldn't! You're a lot taller than the trees way up here.

[He exhales slowly. He knows that they should probably get back down to the darkness of the forest soon, but it's nice being here, back in freedom. Jaime's experience with nature tends to be along the lines of deserts, not forests, and he's found that he's not a fan of the claustrophobia of shadows and vines taunting them at every corner.]

You ready to go back down there, or do you wanna take a breather first?

[Ken's not doing well at all, but he's holding up. He's quieter and his expressions are stiffer, as if he's put a very Minato-esque dam on his feeling so that they don't spill out in the middle of all this fighting. That's what he's hoping for, anyway. But in the presence of Jaime, he doesn't have to hide absolutely everything; at the question, his grip around Jaime tightens.]

Give me a second. I'll be okay, but I was starting to feel a bit sick.

[He can charge through the dim forest. He can deal with it being nighttime. He can deal with that. But getting chased by shadows, enemies made of literal darkness, when darkness happens to be your sole weakness is never a good feeling.]
khajidont: (Beetle - Reassuring)

[personal profile] khajidont 2016-01-20 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
We can stay up here for as long as you need. We've been here for a while already, and we're only gonna be here for longer.

[This is a long-term battle, Jaime is quickly realizing. He hadn't thought about it that way when he came in (if he did, maybe he'd bring some food or water with him instead of just racing in with a foolhardy confidence that they'd be able to find him on such short notice), but now that he does know? That means they have to pace themselves.

So it's no trouble for him to just hover in mid-air, grasp on Ken strong and secure, the glow emanating off of him only bolstering the light surrounding them.]

...what part of it made you feel sick?

[He has to ask, if only so he can figure out whether or not he can fix it.]
amadaman: ((p3) 041)

[personal profile] amadaman 2016-01-21 06:57 am (UTC)(link)
Mm.

[Up in the sky, Ken closes his eyes and tries not to look for the moon. He knows that it's a normal moon, but when he's this tired it's easier to just not think about it.]

Most of us Persona users have some sort of magic that we can use. At the same time, we have weaknesses, too. Sanada-san uses electricity, but he's weak to ice. Minato-san's switched around with his Persona, but most of them had weaknesses too.

Kala-Nemi's the same way, but hers isn't elemental. I'm weak to Mudo spells that use darkness, so being around those shadows isn't a good feeling.
khajidont: (Beetle - Talking)

[personal profile] khajidont 2016-01-21 08:42 am (UTC)(link)
Oh... right. I think I remember Shinji telling me that once.

[It might have been Shinji, anyway; these days, the specifics as to who tells him what tends to blend together. The important thing is that he keep on learning more about Personas, what make them click, and more importantly, how best to protect people who have them.

So Ken's is allergic to darkness, huh...? That's definitely something to keep in mind. He shakes his head.]

Man, it's like this place was designed just to mess with you. At least while I'm around, I'll try and keep 'em as far away from you as possible.

[There's enough danger here without Ken having to be worried about being weak to them specifically.]

But I'm weak to magic, so it seems like we're in the same boat.
amadaman: ((p3) 031)

[personal profile] amadaman 2016-01-22 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Aragaki-san explained something...?

[He can't help it. One of his first, strongest impressions about Jaime and Personas was how little he knew about them despite a year of knowing Shinjiro and Akihiko before Ken and Minato's arrival. It strikes him now that it's almost been a year since then. Longer than the time he was a member of SEES in Iwatodai.

He pushes his thoughts about Shinjiro out of his head for now.]

Being weak to magic wouldn't have stopped you from coming. And the shadows here won't stop me, either. Pan messed with more than Kaneda-san this time. We have to stop him.
khajidont: (Beetle - I'm sorry)

[personal profile] khajidont 2016-01-24 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
I know. It stuns me whenever he does that too, [Jaime says, unable to keep from gently teasing Ken despite the circumstances. His expression quickly becomes serious once the conversation turns to why they're both here in the first place, though, and he looks thoughtfully across the forest, towards the island where he just knows Pan is hiding. If he could just get there, he thinks to himself, the things that he could do...

But he can't do it, is the thing. They need to figure out the rest out first.]

Yeah. And more people will get hurt if we don't stop him. You came in with Kaneda's group, huh?

[Hellbent on, if not vengeance, then doing something. Jaime's okay as long as Ken's with someone, but that doesn't stop him from worrying, more about the state of Ken's mind than the state of his health.]
amadaman: ((p3) 063)

[personal profile] amadaman 2016-01-24 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
[The two of them have been together for nearly a year. Because of how quickly they became close, it could be said that they knew each other well. Jaime's identity as Blue Beetle was one of the bigger secrets he found out about him, but there was still a lot Ken didn't know. Still, he thinks he can confidently say that there's no way, in this situation, that Jaime isn't worried about him.

And considering their history, what his worry exactly was.

Ken is staring at the island, too, frowning quietly with a fire burning in his eyes. But when he finally tears his gaze away and turns to Jaime, it's been dimmed, and he pats his friend's shoulder as if to comfort him.]

I'm going to be okay, [he tells him.] I'm not here to avenge Tetsuo-san. I'm here because I want to punch Pan in the face, and I want to help Kaneda-san. Where he wants to go, I'll help him get there. No matter what it takes.
khajidont: (Beetle - I'm sorry)

[personal profile] khajidont 2016-01-24 09:05 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh good, Jaime thinks dimly. Ken's only here because he wants to punch Pan in the face. Pan, the incredible spellcaster who's capable of transforming an entire city, brainwash the people inside of it, hide out on a forcefield-protected island, and summon up horrible, horrible shadows that awaken people's worst fears and regrets. That's all Ken wants to do.

Even worse still, it's actually kind of a relief, because punching a nigh omniscient being in the face is a lot easier to swallow than wanting to avenge the guy who tried to kill you, weirdly enough. He's been here too long, he thinks. His priorities are all messed up, and even he, the normal one, isn't quite sure of what counts as normal anymore -- just what counts as normal for Ken.

He sighs, expression softening a little as Ken pats him on the shoulder, struck by the sheer absurdity of Ken trying to comfort him here when he's the one who's had to deal with loss again.]

Even if you're not here to avenge him, there's a big difference between being out for vengeance and being okay, [Jaime says with the sort of gentleness that almost doesn't suit him when he's all suited up like this, flat face and glowing lenses almost alien.] Seeing all of that -- all of this, it couldn't have been easy.
amadaman: ((p3) 037)

[personal profile] amadaman 2016-01-24 10:08 am (UTC)(link)
Of course it wasn't.

[Ken answers honestly, knowing that Jaime understands even more than he thought he did, once upon a time. Jaime had always been, and still is, someone Ken wants to protect, but he isn't just someone to be protected. Jaime Reyes understood as someone who had to fight, too; he had always understood what it meant to be on the side that fought, had always understood fairness and justice and kindness, even as someone who faced the exact opposite of his values from behind the mask.

Letting out a breath and watching it cloud up in front of him, Ken continues his answer.]
Of course it isn't easy. How many more people am I gonna have to watch die? How many more people am I gonna have to watch grieve?

[I want to see him. I just want to see him. Yukari, usually so fierce, crumpled to the ground in tears as Mitsuru gently wrapped her arms around her. Aigis, standing speechlessly and trying so, so hard to find another answer. Junpei wiping his tears away and laying down the body of the person he loved. Akihiko yelling Shinjiro's name at the end of a battle to prove to himself that he could move on.

The hand Ken had resting on Jaime's shoulder curls into a fist, so tightly that is shakes.]

If I turn away from this, Pan will hurt people again. It won't just be Tetsuo-san and Kaneda-san. So many people will get dragged down by him. I don't want to see that anymore, so I'm going to fight. When this is all over, I'll figure out what to do from there.
khajidont: (Beetle - I know)

[personal profile] khajidont 2016-01-26 09:58 am (UTC)(link)
[It's not an easy answer to hear, but Jaime's different from the way he was all those months ago, in which every pained word out of Ken's mouth was a stab to his gut. This time, he's still sad, but more than that, he's relieved. As much as Ken may be hurting, he's at least being honest. Sometimes he doesn't know where this kid's head is at, and the more information he has to ground himself with (to know, of course, whether he'll do some foolish thing like fight more serial killer clowns), the better.

He doesn't have a good answer for Ken. He wants to say that things will get better, but with this group of people, in the situation they're in, he can't say that with any sort of confidence. Nobody here seems to be from good circumstances, so their choices are either to stay in this tenuous place, or to be forcibly returned to more disaster.

Jaime raises one hand to rub at Ken's back soothingly. His armour is harder than his skin, and it skids across Ken's skin more than he'd like it to, but this is all he's got.]

I'm sorry you've had to see this much. I'm sorry you still have to see it, [Jaime says, voice sad, sympathetic. It does pain him to see how much the kids here have had to suffer, but what can he do about it, really?]

I'd never ask you to turn away from this. I know what you're like. But, Ken... you have to be careful out there. [He sighs.] We can meet up to talk more about all this once we get out of here. And once we catch that friggin' Pan guy.
amadaman: ((p3) 170)

[personal profile] amadaman 2016-01-30 08:25 am (UTC)(link)
[The Blue Beetle's armored hand feels very different from Jaime's human hand, but it doesn't faze Ken much. He's wholly accepted that they're the same person, even if he still thinks about how differently he viewed them when he still saw them separately, and Jaime's intentions aren't lost on him. In return, Ken shakes his head and briefly wraps his arm around his neck. He's comfortable giving him hugs freely, now.]

I'll come back alive, I promise. And I'll be okay when I do.

... If you-- if you see Minato-san, let me know. I'm looking for him.
khajidont: (Beetle - Take that Reach)

[personal profile] khajidont 2016-01-31 09:02 am (UTC)(link)
Okay. But I'm holding you to that one, okay? Don't make any promises you can't keep!

[He sounds a little like he's joking, like he always does with Ken, but there's something else underneath it all, something a little sad, a little scared. He's seen Ken come out of these things worse for wear so many times, and there's a reason why Ken's plaintive question of how many times he has to watch other people grieve rings true: Jaime's scared of how many times he's going to have to watch Ken go through this, or things like it.

He thinks he understands his parents better now, understands the way they glance at each other every time he sets out in-uniform before they smile at him, and tell him they love him, tell him to be careful. You can't stop people from doing what they were always going to do.

But it didn't stop you from worrying like hell.]

And I'll let Minato know. It's only a matter of time before I run into him, right? Maybe we can all meet up together later.

[Strength in numbers.]
amadaman: ((p3) 047)

[personal profile] amadaman 2016-02-05 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
[Ken won't be able to keep that promise, not for a few days, but right now, he absolutely means the promise. Still, he shakes his head.]

No, I want you to tell me. Minato-san didn't answer Kaneda-san's call. He might be in here, and if he is... I want to find him.
khajidont: (Beetle - that was your killer monkey out)

[personal profile] khajidont 2016-02-06 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
If that's the case, then we'll be finding him together. If something's happened to him, Ken, I'm not going to leave him alone. But you can make sure that I'll call you, make sure you're there with us.

[He won't be able to keep his promise either; him finding Minato will be a failed, eerie effort, and he'll stumble into worse things shortly afterwards. It's hard to remember your promises when you're fighting your own head, when you can't even get near one of your best friends without lashing out.]

He'll always be one of my priorities. You know that.
amadaman: ((p3) 121)

[personal profile] amadaman 2016-02-15 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
[Ken's nodded response to that is stiff, but he still nods to that promise.]

Thank you, Jaime-san.

Please stay safe. I'll be mad, if we get out of this and you're not there.
