The New Neverland
WHO:EVERYONE (EDIT)
WHERE: Heropa or AKA Neverland
WHEN: January 3rd to 5th
WHAT: The rescuers invade Neverland to end the fiendish Peter Pan's plot
WARNINGS: Death is likely to happen, fighting, swearing, probably just going to be 14+ kind of deal.
The time has come to stop Pan. After posting this to the network Peter has all but challenged the imPorts: either look away and don't bother his paradise or come try and stop him.
Preparation
The jungle stands tall and mighty, a fearful and ominous sight to be seen. One can only hope things go smoothly, but this is Neverland after all, a land of endless possibilities which means endless unknown dangers. Take the time to get ready, plan and storm the jungle....you'll need it.
Entering Neverland
You cross the threshold of Neverland's barrier and everything you once knew has all but changed. Where day use to stand all there is is but a perpetual night. You're not sure how you know this but you get the feeling that despite how many days that may go by in his land time will hold still, day will never come. Dark skies with blinking stars and an eerie moon is but your only light here.
The sights before them are this, a jungle, humid and warm. Where Winter's chill had been has all been snatched away by what would be a mild tropical heat. All there are are trees, vines and large leaves far for the eye can see. It takes only a bit of searching to find sources of water and food a like, but remember not everything may be safe to eat. Careful of thorny vines, for it may be Dreamshade, a deadly poison that inhabits Neverland.
If you manage to find the horizon what appears to be a massive lake of water surrounds the entirety of Neverland where no other land can be seen beyond it. An illusion? Perhaps, but who can say with a curse.
For our heroes, our rescuers this may seem odd if not unsettling. For our cursed? It's nothing new, glorious to some maybe but nothing new.
Riddle me this
Wandering the jungle for Peter's riddles? Continue to do so as they will not be given easily. For Peter has set up challenges that would crush and break the weakest and strongest of hearts alike.
The echo caves
The jungle of Neverland is deep and perilous but none such as the Echo caves. Dark and cavernous holes that go deep into the island, the entrance remains open to all who brave it. How the unlucky stumble across it is different for each. Is that Peter Pan gadding you to come catch him and running inside? Or is it someone you cherish most dear fleeing inside from you? However it happened, inside is damp and dark. The name does not lie for the caves do echo, but not with the sound of your own voice or noises caves make but the voices of others. You hear it in your brain, creeping in like a tangled vine telling you the only way out is to reveal the darkest secret you hold close to your chest, that no one must know. All victims of the cave must say their secret or else be trapped within its walls forever....but not without a catch. Revealing the secret does not simply get you out. For those that you are with now must resist the temptations of the sweet and venomous voices that speak into their ear. They suggest to let their feelings out, to act upon rage or despair or some other hideous feeling towards the secret teller and the secret they held. If all resists though and all secrets let out the secret riddle is spoken and if one has it, the map is unlocked.
The riddle being: I'm separate but close, I am small but I am big.
Dark Hollow
Stumble through the darkness and one would surely find light somewhere, wouldn't they? Perhaps from torch light from Peter's followers? Or even the forever full and silver moon in the sky? But, the further you journey into this part of the jungle, the more the light dies. Light that people conjure also snuff out as quickly as they were lit.
Take a pause to try and get the light back but it only takes a second to look away when they come out. Shadows, living shadows, come out from behind trees and from out of dark corners. They circle like sharks in the water around the victims who so stupidly wandered into their hallow. Welcome, to Peter Pan's den of stolen shadows of unfortunate victims.
They lunge without a thought, attacking and clawing at the people invading this space. They throw sharpened wooden spears, try and grab and throw people into trees and worse off, steal your shadows to add to Pan's collection. They make no sound, only faint and ghostly whooshes accompany them as they fly about. Fight them if you can, but if fire is introduced or a container with a flame they make short work of these evil creatures....and once capture or made to flee they're ghostly whooshes become hollow voices, whispering silently: The only form of rescue they have is a message in a bottle when they are lost but live on me.
The map will be unlocked if it has not already.
Mermaid Lagoon
Water, is a valuable thing to have and in a jungle where it is hard to find? Well, worry no more because a pure spring of the clearest blue water stands before you. Drink, refresh yourselves or just be cautious as with the other dangers of Neverland it doesn't matter. Because the moment you arrive at this spring it's power takes effect.
What use to be foliage and water around you turns to the fears that haunt your very heart. They live and breathe before you, speaking to you, being there before you. It's just like Crane's fear gas all over. Allies may appear to be monsters and what do we do with monsters? The fears are yours and only you can act upon them appropriately.
However, through your own will or the strength of those beside you can help you cut through the dark mirror. When it shatters the fragments of the broken illusion sing to you and you hear the words of a riddle:
I am a horror in which all mortal life makes.
The map will be unlocked if it has not already.
Otherwise you may flee....but you will never hear the shards of of a fear triumphed sing.
Grove of Pixie dust trees
The horrors of Neverland truly never cease, do they? But, rest must be taken if you wish to stop Pan, isn't it? These grove of trees seem nice, don't they? Nothing harmful about them. That would be a naive to think because once more does Neverland play it's evil. The dark magic of this place seeps into your senses, poison that fills the mind and the heart. Shadows of dark and deep regrets that left a wound on your heart that never healed take form here and become solid. It's like a film you relive far too vividly.
The regret may burn in your heart and make you want to flee and you can but the brave face their regrets and admit and accept them. Once you do the regret fades away speaking in the voice of those you let down of the last piece of the riddle:
You may not use me when you think, but you're awfully glad I'm there.
But, you should run, who wants to face their regrets? It'll just mean Pan can keep his paradise.
For the cursed
But these troubles and riddles are for those pesky Rescuers. Peter's cursed victims will have been informed to stop the Rescuers from making it to these locations.
Other things to do
Shadows like in the Hallow roam the island.
They appear as any other person, someone you love, miss or anyone under the sun. They may find you heroes, you rescuers, they may not but if they do they have things to say. The shadows will try and make the Rescuers despair or they will ask for you to leave Neverland with them to go home. The lies they say sound convincing and they'll offer a hand for you to flee with them. Take it, and the shadow will smile evilly and begin to try and rip your shadow from you so you may join the pile of Peter's victims and have your shadow join his fold. Having friends will help ignore the shadow's influence or perhaps they can just go the forward route and just shoot it.
The hunt is on
Lost Children and Peter's employees you have an important task of hunting the defectors, Cursed adults and children not affiliated with Pan, and the Rescuers themselves. For fun or for duty of course. Cursed imPorts are armed with their own own powers and weapons with dreamshade, a lethal poison that will kill they are a force to be reckoned with, otherwise all the regular citizens who had been cursed will only have bow and arrows, swords, spears, and other primitive like dipped in the fatal dreamshade. The poison can be cured but only with plenty of healing or the waters of Neverland on deadman's peak. Be wary of them dear Rescuers because you may stumble upon on of the camps Peter's Children or employees have.
Stir the memories
It's only a matter of time until you run into someone you knew. However you found one of the cursed, coming across their camp, in the wilderness, however it is only a matter of time. If a rescuer's connection is deep with the cursed old memories may surface a bit and cause conflict inside the other. It's not enough to break the curse but maybe it's enough to for them to side with our dear heroes...or fight harder against them.
Campsites
Like the music Peter's played before there are camps that play the same entrancing music. Far stronger than it was over the network it compels you to come join in the fun, rescuers. Forget your troubles and just have fun and dance...but be aware that if you stay too long you'll be dragged away and locked up. Resisting is possible but are you capable of doing that.
However, with our dear cursed individuals this is your respite from the hunt. Peter may be here to talk with you, to reassure or to plot. But, this is also your time to socialize with your cohorts and remember how much you enjoy Neverland.
MISC
Anything and everything goes in this section. Come up with things to do in Neverland. A breather, a fight, your own plans whatever you make of it. Just remember to keep it in the confines of Neverland.
(OOC:Update: Information on the plot here, the plot is now open to everyone. Details may be found here as to why.)

[ But only sometimes. The rest is sheer guesstimation! By now, Hawke figures he isn't going to be led off to die like a good little brat, so she turns back around to face him, lazily sliding her staff down from where it hung over one shoulder. ]
Tch, look at you. Don't tell me you're losing it already. I thought you were supposed to be the big, brave leader.
[ Only there's something fundamentally sarcastic about how she calls him that. ]
no subject
[It comes out just as venomously as her little remark, eyes immediately dark and dangerous. That was EXACTLY the problem. She knows where she's going, unlike the rest of them. They had to figure out this entire map on their own, and if Hawke had all the answers? She'd have contacted someone.
His eyes trail her hand, watching that staff slide off her back and into its grip.
Think, Kaneda.]
It's a little hard to tell who's losing what in this place, you know?
[His arms reach up, folding across his chest defiantly as he bounces on his heels. A typical teenager, through and through, lips puckered in that irritating way as he looks up.]
Me, losing directions, you...
[While still folded, his hands reach for his arm holsters, grabbing the handles of each gun.
Waiting.]
no subject
[ Losing her what? Her soul, most like, or something close to it. The jig's up and Hawke's patience to try and salvage it has worn through like a pair of cheap boots by now. He grabs the gun handles and she raises a hand up in a quick gesture, palm up and mimicking bringing something upwards with it.
The air around Kaneda crackles with some unseen power, not quite static, but similarly hair-raising. If he doesn't move, a glowing blue field will snap up following the sensation. If caught in that, well, he won't only be stuck, immobile, but the field will close in painfully close, squeezing.
Not that it'll last long. Even spells like that have time limits. ]
You'll put someone's eye out.
no subject
Maybe he'd have been brought before Pan--hell, that would've been okay--He could wipe that smirk off his face personally...
But there's no time to dwell on that, now. Kaneda's hair stands on end, sensing the atmospheric change around him the moment her hand moves. It's almost like when Kazu had attacked, filling the area with oxygen to feed the flames of his attack, only this time, it had a different feel to it. It smelled like chlorine, the way lightning always does when it crackles and strikes. It around him, a blue hue bouncing off his face and arms as he looks down, trying to back up to get out of its way. It's not quick enough--by the time he gets towards the outer edge of it, the field snaps close like a Venus flytrap, putting the squeeze on his chest and back, arms pinned up where they hung.
It was hard to bide the pain. With his previous injuries, the pressure exerted on his chest and back was almost unbearable. Like someone took a hammer to his bruises and used it to apply pressure. The grinding of his teeth pounds in his ears, twinges of pain shooting through his body from chest to legs, numbing his brain and nerves misfiring everywhere. Fingers twitch as they're held uselessly mid-air, fingers twitching to the crackling atmosphere.
But his eyes harden, focusing (as well as he can, his visions a little blurry form the pain) on Hawke, arms struggling to fight against that hold]
Dammit...you want to fight?
FIGHT WITH YOUR BARE HANDS!
no subject
Oh, but I am! See?
[ Before she closes the gap between them all the way, she stops, making another gesture -- this time one that motions with two fingers to the side of her head -- and then flicks another spell, a wave of telekinesis (bet'cha Kaneda's familiar with that by now, huh?) to slam into and fling the boy away just as the blue barrier around him drops. ]
no subject
He could do it once, he could do it again.]
Hey, you know what I mean--
[Too late. Because Hawke's not waiting for a snarky comeback. She's already gearing herself up to launch another attack, her fingers swiping to the side of her head, the all too familiar feeling of--
Telekinesis. Why did it ALWAYS have to be telekinesis.
The impact is too much. A scream erupts from him as it makes contact. Telekinetic power was pure force. There was nothing softening it. So every hit you got...you felt. And you felt it at full force. Kaneda's body could take it, sure, but that didn't mean he'd feel every inch of pain that came with it. All powers had a downside, and just because he wasn't killed by something doesn't mean it hurt less.
The blue field dissipates as he gets sent backwards, ready for the inevitable landing. He hits not once, but twice, skipping like a stone over water as his back makes contact with a fallen log, and then past it and onto the leafy, pebbly, random-sharp-objecty ground.
Wait..no, he's DONE this before. He's gotten thrown by Tetsuo dozens of times. If there's one thing he can do...it's stick a landing. When his back hits that second time and skids, he uses his momentum to lift his legs up and over in a somersault, pulling himself back onto his knees. Every inch of him hurt from that, and the pain from his chest is making it hard to breathe, but determination forces air into those lungs once more as he looks up through the mess of black hair now plastered to his head from sweat.
Arms raise, quickly whipping out both guns and alternating shots from them as he forces his legs into a run. If he keeps it up, the endorphins'll kick in.]
no subject
Bullets fly, but they hit that instead, as Hawke begins to back up with every subsequent shield spell. Soon enough, she's pushed back to where she'd left her staff. One more spell thrown up to deflect and she grabs the weapon, yanking it up out of the ground and twirling it with ease and slamming it back into the dirt again. On impact, massive spikes of ice explode up around her, putting a makeshift wall of sorts between herself and Kaneda, all wicked points aiming outward at the oncoming boy and his guns. ]
no subject
It's too late, by the time he approaches, she's grabbed that staff and slammed it into the ground, icicle spires shooting up with barbs ready to come and meet him. His feet skid, rubber put to the test as it slides along the dirt to curb him. But it's too little too late, and his body slams right in between those spikes (good luck on his side that he didn't impale himself..or attempted impale), bare arms hitting it and immediately singing him with frostbite. It stings like a motherfucker (his wording, honestly) as he throws himself off, falling back and immediately scooting as much distance between them as he possibly can.
Okay, frontal assaults, ranged attacks...EVERYTHING.
Doesn't work.]
no subject
What? Is that all? Don't tell me you expected this to be easy?
[ She's a dangerous lady, Kaneda, and she has orders to take you down, so she might as well get to it before someone from his camp decides to come looking. Though the ice is in her way, enough of the spires slant enough that Hawke can casually up up and stroll over them, leaping down to the other side to join Kaneda once she hits the narrow tips. ]
Now, where was I... oh, of course.
[ Staff still in hand, she brings both in front of her, raising them palm up like she was lifting something unseen. Another gesture, another surge of power filling the jungle clearing around Hawke. Around Kaneda, bits of rock and dirt and other ground debris begins to twitch, then rise, and that same force is pulling on Kaneda himself soon enough... ]
no subject
She was so much more than that, and he can already see that magic is something he's definitely not prepared to fight against. Bullets are useless, bombs would be too, and a knife required a close range. None of which do against mages.
She hops down, and Kaneda's guns aim at her to shoot. But once again, his reflexes can't outspeed magic. Before he knows it, the gravel and ground starts to lift up around him, a familiar note striking here as well. He didn't know what would happen, exactly, but he had to get out of there fast. Those guns whip back into his holster lest he lose them, and his heel pivots to try and sidestep it--
only to get caught in that field. It tugs and pulls on his skin, lifting off the ground to hover with the rocks, body completely mobile but at Hawke's mercy.]
LET. ME. GO!
[Did that ever actually work?]
no subject
[ She will.
That was only the first half of the spell, anyhow, so she may as well finish it. Of course, before she "lets him go", the spell does jerk him bodily up, farther up, just a bit more (it's still a survivable distance, for the most part) and then it lets go. By slamming him back into the ground. Now, at that point, Hawke's pretty sure this is over.
Her arms already lowered again, having come down to trigger the slam itself, she moves to stroll on over to where he landed. ]
I wonder, do you think Pan would prefer getting you delivered all alive? Or just mostly alive?
[ Or perhaps even dead. ]
no subject
[He knew from the moment he was lifted up what was going to happen. When you've been tossed around like a ragdoll by angry psychics for the past few months, you learn to notice these kinds of things. Without a delay, his body vaults up, feeling his stomach turn at the sudden change in gravity, lifting himself up through the trees to about midway point from the canopies to the ground. It wasn't the highest he'd been thrown, but then again, was any height really -preferable-? It all hurt in the end.
His eyes cast down, morbid curiosity getting the better of him as he spots Hawke, hand raised and watching as if she were enjoying the show.
Just...fucking great.
But the force holding him up, the soft hum of power around him that changed gravity on a dime had died, the rocks and pebbles around im already starting to fall. It's almost cartoonish, the way his body hangs around for one second longer than the rocks, before it plummets down into the ground with a sickening crunch.
OW.
He gives himself a moment to catch his breath. Sure, he'd taken freefalls like that before. Hell, he's been slammed into a lamppost...but it's not like you ever get an immunity from that. It never gets any easier. With one swift motion, he turns to roll onto his stomach, fingers twitching and trying to grip whatever debris had fallen before him, listening to her soft footsteps approach.
He hated that tone she gave. It was flippant and condescending, all too reminiscent of adults back home. Talking like she'd already won...
But that was just it--he was out of options. The closer she gets, the quicker he has to think, mulling this over in his brain; even if it was still swimming from the impact. He can't fight her, and no one would be able to hear him all the way out her--
Wait.
No, someone would.
As she approaches, his hand reaches down, slipping into one of his pockets, hoping he remembered the right one it was hiding in. ]
BITE ME. You're not taking me at all.
[There it is, his hands close around what he was looking for: that dog whistle.]

Amazing. You can even still talk back. Well, I'll give that to you, you're resilient, but this is over.
[ Maybe she'll just off him and be done with it. That thought in mind, she slides the staff back off of her shoulder and takes it in both hands, raising the bladed end high like a headsman's axe. Yet, it never comes down. Hawke stands, looming over him like that, for those precious seconds he needs to act.
There's suddenly a conflicted look on her face over it, the thought of killing Kaneda. It's just another dumb kid... Who cares if she kills another? She wasn't having this problem before, when she was just throwing him around! ]

And he had to steel himself for this.
That second's all the time he needs. With a sudden flash of a smirk, he whips the whistle into his mouth, blowing into it with all the power his lungs will give him. There's no sound that he can hear.
He just has to hope that it reaches Inuyasha. And fast.
All he had to do was buy time.]
Not yet.
[It loses the effect having a whistle in your teeth, but hey, we can't always be movie-badasses.]

What? Is this a joke?

[The leaves above them rustle, and a whole lot of reckless stupid red-robed teenager leaps out of the trees, hand on Tessaiga's hilt.]
-Watch your head!
[He draws the sword, a strong wind gusting around the blade, and aims a horizontal stroke towards Hawke's middle. A strike with little compunctions about possibly taking a piece of Kaneda with him if he doesn't duck fast enough.]

He couldn't see anything this way, but he didn't have to.
It actually worked.
It actually worked.
And despite the still-dangerous situation he was in, he can't help but feel his heart swell at that.]

[So shouts someone who probably abruptly has a death wish. Or someone who sees the kid on the forest floor, the destruction all around, and threw caution to the wind.]
[Someone who followed the sounds of a fight as best he could through tangled, winding jungle. Who felt intensely gratified to see the dog-boy here ahead of him. Good -- someone was there to step in. Inuyasha can handle getting Kaneda off the scene -- provide a distraction -- keep Hawke (damn it why does it have to be Hawke) busy while they duck out.]
[Best way to do that is poke the nerves.]
[The Iron Bull shoulders aside some undergrowth to step onto the scene, makeshift acrylic vitaar substitute gleaming red and the hammer in his hands swinging loosely at the ready.]
Go on, Arvaarad. Get to the goal with the dog. Don't worry.
[Pointed, enunciated words. Ones he already partly regrets saying. He'd liked Hawke. And he's never really had any problems with the mages he's met so far -- the mages who were in control of themselves. But that isn't something to dwell on right now.]
[He steps in front of the kid, hammer held in hand, one eye on Hawke and a sneer covering the little inward twitch as he says, in challenge:]
Old Iron Bull will handle the saarebas for you this time.

Maker, now what?!
[ Damn it, she'd taken too long. If she hadn't hesitated...
Oh, but forget the two boys. Her attention is immediately elsewhere when a Qunari, of all things, steps into view. ]
...ha. So that's who he wants dead...
[ And Hawke can't help but agree with Pan on that one. She sneers right back at him, getting back to her feet and twirling her staff into a combat ready position again. As guessed, throwing out stuff about mages and leashes and saarebas manage to strike a nerve. ]
I should have known he meant one of you stupid cows when he mentioned you! You think you can handle me? After all the rest before you couldn't? What a joke!

Now now, let's not call each other names. I thought we were passed that nonsense.
[He has his staff out and there's rustling behind him from something Dorian brought along with him. Let Bull and him be the big distraction so the odd looking dogman can get the kid out of here.]
I imagine we can have the thread split here?
[He's quiet as they interact, a little uncertain about leaving Bull without any help. He didn't know who this new guy was, but he had a similar air to Hawke.]
Jiijii, don't make us have to come back and get you!
[He glances back, suspecting Kaneda should be able to get on his feet again. He didn't smell too much fresh blood on him.]
Can you get up?
FIGHT GOING HERE
Hey, name-calling gets brought back up when people start kicking around kids on my watch.
[His hands tighten around that hammer, nodding once as Inuyasha takes Kaneda in hand. He's placing a lot of trust in that weird, angry dog-kid. But what other choice is there right now?]
[Nothing but ugly ones. Ones that may cost friends -- friends versus what shadows of the Chargers he's gathered accidentally around himself.]
So come on, Champion. Why don't you pick on a couple of assholes your own age? [A beat -- a teasing glance at Dorian.] Or older, in some cases.
no subject
Champion? [ Hawke scoffs. ] What kind of insult it that?
[ Because, in her cursed memories, that never happened. Sure, she saved the day, and what was her reward? The Gallows, for being an apostate. As far as she was concerned, the Qunari played a big, fat role in ruining her life that day. Her attention flickers, briefly over to the dog boy helping Kaneda up, then to Dorian, narrowing at the other mage in suspicion. ]
You know he's just going to turn on you once you stop being useful, don't you? Surely you aren't such a fool to think otherwise.
[ She would love to go all out and attack, but with the Qunari's back-up, she isn't feeling quite as reckless anymore. She does, however, have shield spell or two prepared to drop at the first sign of trouble. ]

A BOY AND HIS DOG GOES HERE
And then looking at the whistle.]
It worked!
[That's way more happier of a tone than you'd expect given the situation.]
Yeah...yeah I'm fine--think I broke my ass but...I'm fine.
[Completely disproving that theory right now by the way he shakily gets up. His legs felt like JELL-O from the fall, but all things considered, at least he's intact.]
I'm going to be feeling this tomorrow.

[A hand holds Kaneda's shoulder to help pull him to his feet. There was plenty of time for him to celebrate not dying when they were back on Pan's trail. They were still in his domain, after all.]
[Inuyasha kneels down, and uses a thumb to gesture to his back.]
Climb on. It'll be faster.
