[Her pushes are nothing he can't take, his hands meeting her little slaps and hand waving as he keeps trying to grab her wrists. Not go any further than that, of course.]

[Maya gasps, then-- looks like the answer's yes-- but goes to try and grab his wrists instead, smiling to recover. Maybe he totally didn't see that.]

[Oh, he saw that, and his hands immediately to work--or they would if Maya didn't catch them before they reached her midsection. Nimble fingers flail mid-air as they struggle to grasp at that waist, ready for tickling...only to be held back by one determined miko.]

If you're not ticklish then why are you stopping me?

[Laughter escapes, leaning forward just a little bit more.]

My eyes are perfect!

[He turns back around, staring into those alien eyes. If he's being honest, he has no idea what he was expecting. Agreeing with him, maybe; they are? were? enemies, and he hasn't forgotten that. Mewtwo could easily have no reason at all to keep acknowledging him like this after a confession like that.

But... they're alike. That's why he had to say that, and maybe that's why Mewtwo just keeps talking. They're alike... and that's why he has to know-]

[Ken's just about forgotten what he came here to do. He's probably not going to dance again unless he's invited, but for now, he's content to just keep spending time like this. He's focused on where to put his feet, the sound of the music, and a beat that's different from Kala-Nemi's steady ticking.]

You're mostly full of good ones. Just good ones can also be stupid, sometimes. Um... thanks, for this.

[It's easy to get lost in it, if only for the short duration of the next few songs. He doesn't expect Ken to do this all the time, but the fact that they're sharing this moment? Something that was so reminiscent of his home?

It's enough.]

[He almost stops completely when Kaneda moves closer. What is he-

He misses a few steps when he realizes what Kaneda's doing, watching his feet in surprise. No. There's no way he's doing that. Tetsuo's small attempt at moving around barely qualifies as motion; let alone a dance to follow along to. This beat's got a weird drumline- some of it not quite on beat. There is one thing he could try...

He'd seen this.. shoot, where was it? Some idol program... or something, he can't remember where. One of the few legit bits he actually knew about and was reasonably sure he wouldn't trip himself trying.

Just to make sure Kaneda's doing what he thinks he is, that's all.

Keeping a close eye on their feet, counting in his mind for a while to get himself ready and try to not screw up - ONE two three, one two THREE four, one two ...

At the next four-beat line, he kicks the ball of one foot against the ground instead of shuffling it to make it take a little less time, steps again to put his weight on his other foot and swings his first foot slightly out to tap the floor to his side. Then drags his foot back, ALMOST making the fourth beat on rhythm. Not quite.

Shit. He lost the beat trying that, dammit - he told Kaneda he was no good at this stuff...]

Oh, so it's what they call... childhood friends, I think? It's good to be with someone you're so familiar with, huh?

[As they arrive at Manolo's house, which Ken probably has keys to already, Ken decides that he will actually stand aside and let the actual resident open his own door. Would it be weird if a guest had a key to your house you didn't know about? Probably.]

[amadaman]

Kaneda-san doesn't really do that, no.

I'm Ken. What's your name?

[amadaman]

That's the nice thing, [he says. They're not very specific words, and it's almost vague, like it could be applied to anyone, but it's sincere. There's a brief pause as a server comes by to take their orders, but Ken returns his attention to Barnaby after that, too.]

He still needs to work on being cooler, but he's a good person.

[amadaman]

[... Ken reaches over and starts to push at the bird, shoving it up higher off of her to give her some breathing room.]

You're going to suffocate.

[amadaman]

... Huh?

Am I? I wasn't?

[resoundingpledge]

[ 'Like' . . . that catches her off guard, a little. ]

It's not . . . really like that. It just . . . keeps it out of the way.

[ Another self conscious pat as she tries to find the most rebellious of the tufts, locking it down. ]

[ He's right, and no matter the appeal of actually dying from embarrassment, there's better things to be worrying about.

She scoots out, sitting up only when she's at the very edge of the couch. ]

[Maya laughs, struggling against his wrists-- but really at this point she's laughing, so what's the point in defending herself from the tickling?]

[His attempt to keep her hands at bay now void as he sneaks fingers back to her midsection.]

[He says while laughter escapes with each breath.]

[He could always ask Kaidan for more specifics - 'it's kind of like telekinesis' is what he'd said at the time. ...meaning.... he nods.]

[Meaning, how the hell did he miss that she was also from space.]

[He's got her-- and now she's laughing harder, trying to scoot back away from his fingers.]

Yes, that's exactly it! [Some of his best childhood memories involve him, Joaquin and Maria getting into some kind of trouble or another.

He has an almost wistful look on his face as he unlocks the door. After a couple of seconds, he holds it open for Ken.] After you.

[Barnaby thanks the waiter before they resume their conversation. He cracks a small smile at that comment.]

You're right. Unfortunately, I'm afraid he's a bit of a lost cause in the cool department. For some people, though, that may be part of his charm.

[And the more she tries to scoot, he just pulls her back, now making SURE she can't escape his grasp!]
