Her body is as tense as his, but she doesn't move away, doesn't budge when he finally just lets himself cry onto her shoulder. If this were Ken, she would reach up and try and soothe him with a gentle hand on his head or back--but this is Tetsuo, so she just remains as she is for now, even when her heart is breaking for the poor kid. ]

[That's when Bull moves his foot out of the coals -- finally. Dragging it on the ground to get the ashes off. He's still watching Tetsuo. Waiting for some kind of a reaction. Any kind.]

[He's not... entirely sure if that's a good one or not. But it's better than nothing.]

[He does his best to keep the words steady and light, but there's a catch around the edges that threatens to undo them.]

[In that moment, it's all he can do to stay standing. Even though the words are a little garbled, and very soft, he does try to reply this time.]

You don't get it. There's nothing to work through... it's all over!

[At first, Tetsuo's almost ready to actually say something to him, for once. But that inclination dies down fast as Ikki's hands close around his comm, playing the video he'd just restarted.]

Wait-

[Tetsuo doesn't make more than a halted lurch forward to try to grab it, watching for Ikki's reaction with trepidation. That damn obsession he had with going over and over what happened.... of course someone would catch him at it. Of course it'd be an eerily familiar stranger. His life couldn't actually get worse. It's too much to hope for that this guy sets it down before he sees what happens.

Together they'll get to finish what Tetsuo started.

This time, he finds himself wanting desperately to turn away, pull that jacket tighter around him and hide somehow. He doesn't, but the urge only builds. If he could just melt away onto the bed and stop existing.]

[In a small miracle, Tetsuo actually does. It takes a moment of staring at that hand before he offers his own up. He's tempted to point out all he did was carry it, but ... it feels like a little more than that. Like he helped banish it or something.

It's enough to give him just the right amount of courage to reach out, tentatively offering up his own limp hand in a manner usually reserved for reaching out to scratch a snapping turtle's head.]

[The fact that she was able to just rattle that off like a fact of the day causes those eyes to widen, doe-like and blinking.

Before echoing it with a nervous laughter and throwing that hand up behind his head.]

[Panic abates, leaving anxious fear behind. He thought he knew that; he hoped he did, but for a moment...

Tetsuo's shoulders are tense under Kaneda's hands as he looks up at him with wide, pleading eyes. If anyone understands the horror of what anything to do with police entails, it's Kaneda.]

[Realization after realization only intensifies his horror at the very mention of anything legal. The color drains from his face completely.

He could die and come back. If he did go to jail, if that happened... No one would ever have proof about what they did to him in there. It'd be his word against theirs; a useless delinquent nothing against 'upstanding' police officers. They could find a new way to kill him every day. Or torture him and kill him to get rid of the evidence- many of his scars from his adventures here had faded and grown a lot less prominent since he revived. And he regenerated a heart...

Tetsuo's shiver has nothing to do with the cold.]

[Wow. He's much more distressed than Minato was expecting-- it seems like he's barely processing what he's saying.

Minato hesitates, then stands up to face him directly, a concerned frown hovering around his face.]

I'd be responsible for your parole. So if you did anything, it'd come back on me. [A pause. More quietly,] We'd have to trust each other for it to work.
