Over the weekend, Eiko decided that it'd be nice to get out and do a bit more exploring in Heropa. She'd seen a few shops that looked interesting and decided to head into town to check them out. She wasn't really looking to buy anything but if something caught her eye at the right price, you never knew. Depending on the weather, she'd take a walk along the beach as well since this was a far cry from what she was used to back home. She's met some interesting people but she hasn't quite made any real friends yet. That's what weighs on her mind the most. She was friends with Shiiko since kindergarten and there never really was anyone else. Maybe she wasn't very likable? She'd definitely gotten off on the wrong foot at least once, so perhaps it was all her. Maybe Shiiko was the only person who would put up with her?

These thoughts really weren't helped when she attended classes. She didn't really garner too much attention since she kept a low profile. She didn't do exceptionally well in class and she'd learned long ago how to contain her powers during PE so she just sort of...blended in. It had never really bothered her before coming here but now...

Nill has wanted to buy herself some new clothes for a while, but had been too busy with her new job and finding her way around Heropa to really have the chance. But finally, on Sunday afternoon, she had found the time to head out and look for something new. She's currently standing in front of a mirror in a little dress shop, holding a blue sundress up against herself as she inspects her reflection. Her expression is conflicted, and her wings flit behind her as she tries to decide whether or not she thinks the dress looks alright.

Having found her way into the same shop, Eiko was doing a bit of browsing, picking up one or two things before putting them back. The bit of white fluttering in her peripheral vision made her think maybe a bird had gotten into the shop but when she looked, she saw that they were indeed wings...but not attached to a bird.

And, being the well mannered young woman she is, she's going to stare in shock for a few moments.

After years of being stared at, Nill has developed a sort of sixth sense for it. After a second or two she turns, still holding the dress up in front of herself. The blonde blinks a few times before raising a hand to wave at the staring girl, her smile saying it's alright.

Busted.

Well, at least she didn't appear to be angry and Eiko blushed guiltily as she waved back. It's only at that moment that she realizes that having wings pretty much screams Import, so Eiko makes her way over.

"H-hi...sorry about that. I didn't mean to stare. I've just never seen a person with wings before."

Nill fully turns to face her, folding the dress gently over one arm so the other is free. Not for sign language--she can't know if this girls speaks it, but perhaps she'll end up using her powers for this conversation. It makes social interactions so much easier. She waves that hand dismissively, still smiling. Not many people have known someone with wings and, if they have, they aren't usually as small as Nill's.

Well the girl was nice, though noticeably quiet. Or was Eiko just being talkative? Either was just as likely as the other really. Still, she'd been thinking about making friends, maybe this was a chance to turn things around.

"My name's Eiko. What's yours?"

This is definitely going to be a conversation, then. Without any fuss, Nill reaches into her pocket for her cell phone. This is unorthodox, but she doesn't want to just spring her power on the poor girl. Quickly, she types Nill before holding the screen up so Eiko can see while also gesturing to her mouth and shaking her head, hoping the message of I can't speak gets across clearly.

There's a slight look of confusion on Eiko's face as the other girl pulls out her phone and types in her name. Before she can ask the next obvious question, her quick 'explanation' comes through loud and clear.

"Oooh, you can't talk. Is it related to a power or is it something else?"

She'd never met someone who was mute before so it could be that she was born this way for all Eiko knows.

Nill is used to explaining, and doesn't seem fazed by Eiko's reaction at all. In fact, Eiko is quicker to comprehend Nill's situation than some. She shakes her head with a small smile--no, it isn't related to her power, though her power is related to her muteness. Funny how those things work.

It'd been more a lucky guess than anything. Unfortunately, Eiko's intuition isn't exactly razor sharp.

"Do you go to the school here too? I don't think I've seen you around."

Nill looks like she'd be around Eiko's age, but she could be a little older and already out of high school.

Looking so young has gotten her into trouble a time or two--she's just never grown the way a normal person would. The small features and angel wings don't help her look older, at least. Nill shakes her head again, typing on her phone: I work with a kindergarten class but I am out of school.

"Oh, that sounds like it could be fun! They must think it's really cool to have a teacher with wings."

At least Eiko knows she would've thought it was cool if she were still that age. She thinks the wings are quite adorable even now.

"How long have you been here? In this world, I mean."

Eiko's sentiment is shared by the schoolchildren; her first few days of work had been filled with wide eyes and hesitant requests to touch her feathers. And while there's still a certain amount of fascination, the kids have mostly gotten used to the way she looks. To them, it's just how she is. Nill likes that about kids.

After thinking for a moment, the answer appears on the phone: Since January.

"Since January. So you got here a few months before me. Oh!"

A thought came to mind, something that had been mentioned by a few other people she'd talked to.

"Were you in some other city before arriving here too?"

Nill nods, both surprised and pleased that Eiko knows about the City. Not many new imports did, for some reason. She supposes that the number of people who had been in both the City and Heropa was dwindling. It makes her sad, strangely.
