Cape Canaveral. It's no longer the heat of the day and in January the temperatures will be livable; not too hot and not too cold, either. A pleasant change from the City, perhaps. The sun is on its way to setting but the last light of the day still fills the sky, bursting the city into color. The air smells like ocean.

The locals are friendly and smile and wave, looking on at you in awe. They'll approach if you ask for help, or a question, but they don't want to interfere, either; if you want to be left alone you probably will be. American flags can be seen in many windows and restaurants are rolling out their dinner menus. There's no parade, no big banners, but many storefronts have handmade signs and posters that read:

Welcome, imPorts! We love you!

The woman at the Porter told you what to expect: You know what your tattoo means, you've been given your file, and you know in a few hours they're going to be here to answer more of your questions and see if you'll stand with them or if you'll go off on your own. "It's your decision," one of them had said, but you were already told what you get if you agree and what you don't if you don't. After that's done, she told you, you'll be driven to your new homes.

In the meantime, enjoy the area, or try to. It may not be what you're used to, but after the apocalypse even Florida might seem like an improvement.

[ For Rin she thinks superhearing would be troublesome. All the unwanted conversations she would have been better off ignoring suddenly ringing in her ears? What a pain. ]

It would be a pain to carry a pet around. [ She airs her own complaint with that. ] I guess there's enough time to learn everything about this place after taking care of your fella there.

[boobwindow]

I haven't seen a pet store around yet.

[ She sees those people are still watching them in silent awe and raises an arm to beckon them over. ]

You guys! Come over here. Yeah, you.

[ At first she's nervous with the thought of speaking with others (the last out of world experience she had involved unsavory individuals), but it clears her face before they take notice. So she hopes at least. ]

What are you doing? [ Spoken in a hushed whisper as she tries to understand the reason behind summoning them. ]

[boobwindow]

I've got to ask someone.

[ She answers before the two make their way over, casting them each a bizarrely starstruck and curious look before focusing on Peej. Their eyes wander to her chest, unsurprisingly. Peej leans in marginally, propping one of their head's up to focus on her face. ]

Can you not? I've got a face.

Anyway, [ she nods at her cat. ] Where's the nearest pet store in this place?

[ Fortunately Rin doesn't have much of a problem when it comes to being spoken to due to looking younger than she should, but she still gets fired up by their behavior. ]

Ugh... yes, the pet store. Where is it?

[ She's got three of them to jerk a thumb at for emphasis. ]

[boobwindow]

[ When they mention it's ten blocks the other way, Peej smiles and reaches over to pat one of their shoulders. ]

That wasn't hard. Thank you.

Now please stop staring at us and trying to eavesdrop. We're busy women.

[ She makes a shooing motion and they slowly wander off, though they don't seem nervous once they've gotten a distance away from the two, whispering about how awesome it was to have spoken to them. ]

I wonder if they'll let me put a kennel on a tab?

[gandere]

[ Oblivious to their talk once they're away, Rin's snapped back to attention by her commentary. A tab? ]

They might? We're pretty valuable to them now for whatever reason. [ Something she plans to uncover as soon as she can. ] May as well see how much they allow us to get away with.

[boobwindow]

I don't want to take advantage of anyone, but I would like them to not get on my case for something as small as that.

[ She doubts not having the money for something like that is going to change public opinion like a switch, but better not to provoke people idolizing them too much. ]

[gandere]

Ah, so you're testing the limits?

[ Interesting, but not bad. Someone has to. ] I wonder what all we can and can't do here. I was told about school and other things like that... ah, but I haven't been to a school in over a year. It'd be strange.

It's as if I'll have even more of a normal life here. Do you think it'll be the same for you?

[boobwindow]

I'll make it up to them in no time.

[ She's really not about keeping a squeaky clean image, only doing the right thing for people. ]

Did they enroll you in school? [ She's surprised by the idea. imPorts are unstable population. ] It depends on this "registration" business.
