Cape Canaveral. It's no longer the heat of the day and in January the temperatures will be livable; not too hot and not too cold, either. A pleasant change from the City, perhaps. The sun is on its way to setting but the last light of the day still fills the sky, bursting the city into color. The air smells like ocean.

The locals are friendly and smile and wave, looking on at you in awe. They'll approach if you ask for help, or a question, but they don't want to interfere, either; if you want to be left alone you probably will be. American flags can be seen in many windows and restaurants are rolling out their dinner menus. There's no parade, no big banners, but many storefronts have handmade signs and posters that read:

Welcome, imPorts! We love you!

The woman at the Porter told you what to expect: You know what your tattoo means, you've been given your file, and you know in a few hours they're going to be here to answer more of your questions and see if you'll stand with them or if you'll go off on your own. "It's your decision," one of them had said, but you were already told what you get if you agree and what you don't if you don't. After that's done, she told you, you'll be driven to your new homes.

In the meantime, enjoy the area, or try to. It may not be what you're used to, but after the apocalypse even Florida might seem like an improvement.

Hey, Felicia.

[Spider-Man plops down next to her (not too next, not when even he's noticed how ripe he is with days of accumulated grime) and leans back on his palms. After a quick glance shows her to be in one piece, he's happy enough to get down to some people-watching.]

Should I say I'm glad you made it here?

[ She looks over at him and, despite everything, manages a slight smirk before she sits back, leaning on her palms. Familiar voices are comforting in some peculiar way, given how Felicia isn't much the type to look for comfort. ]

Maybe not, but I'll allow it. The feeling's mutual anyway. Nothing broken?

Eh. [He lifts a hand-- the one that didn't get dislocated a few days ago-- and makes a 'so-so' gesture.] Suit's trashed and my dignity took a drubbing, but nothing that time and a fresh order of spandex can't fix. You?

[ She lifts a leg into the air. ]

Lost a shoe, but the bones are intact. Shoes you can always find more of. [ Find, steal, whatever. ] Luck usually is on my side.

[Beat.]

...I just realized I don't have any real clothes in this entire universe.

[ She stares for a moment before she smirks, stifling a mild laugh behind her hand. ]

But these ones are so flattering.

[He punches her on the arm, lightly.]

Go on, make me feel a little more self-conscious.

Don't tempt me, Spider. You know where I keep my claws.

[ She winks cheekily. ]

[shutterbugged]

[He pretends to cringe back in fear.] I'll be good!

[Beat.] If only 'cause I don't have the spandex to spare.

[acrossyourpath]

[ She smirks again, content in victory. ]

Clothes here can't be too hard to come by anyway. Play nice enough and they might even give them over for free.

[shutterbugged]

[Spidey spreads his hands wide, incredulous.] Are you suggesting I sing for my supper? Because I know you've heard my singing voice.

Sing, dance, whatever comes most naturally. Be creative. Someone will take pity.

Maybe I can do a little soft-shoe. [He waggles a bootie-clad toe. There's a rip down one side of the sole.]

[ She raises her eyebrow, then rolls her eyes. ]

C'mon, Spider. We are in civilization, can't be too hard to find one or two presentable clothing articles. You're the one making it a challenge.

In the meantime, a little webbing should do the trick. [Saying that, he binds the new seam shut with a web-bandage, then starts on some of the other gaps in his suit.]

See. I knew you were a problem solver.

[ She stands slowly, stretching first her legs then her back. ]

Though you'll still stand out in a crowd.

Says the woman in the literal catsuit-- [Spider-Man bounces to his feet, a spritely action immediately undercut by his stopping to knuckle his back.] Ow. Universal collapse -- not a recommended workout routine.

I'm meant to blend in. Makes a difference in color scheme.

[ She offers a smirk. ]

Free advice, seeing as we're such close friends.

Trust me on this, Cat-- in my case, black is not the new red and blue, and I had to learn that the hard way.
