WHAT: Quickie log for Hamada family hijinks & Halloween cuteness

[ It's Halloween! The café is open this evening and the delicious smells of pumpkin spice everything waft out through the front door whenever someone walks in. Today, however, if you wander in you'll be greeted by at least one of the Hamadas. Probably the smallest one, who's wearing the world's laziest Halloween costume - a pair of black cat ears nearly invisible against his messy mop of hair. (He had a tail at some point, but it's somewhere behind the counter now.)

Hiro's got the basket with normal candy, though Cass has made adorable cookies that will surely find their way into the hands of any visitor before they can escape. ]

Y'know, it's kind of nice to be working on Halloween.

[ Mostly because Hiro has spent all afternoon grazing liberally from the candy bowl. He has the remains of a sucker in his mouth now, the stick bobbing up and down as he talks.

I don't like being short. Even if I'm strong too. I mean, that helps ...

It helps tremendously. You're brilliant, Hiro, and coupled with strength and stamina you truly could be a force to be reckoned with.

... What about the version of me in your world? Is he strong?

His teammates have been teaching him to fight, and he can defend himself if the need arises, but no. He's generally physically outmatched in battle.

Under most circumstances, he can look to me for strength, but there have been times I've been unable to accompany him. I'd be much more comfortable knowing he — and you — are safe when I'm not with you.

[ Ah. So that's where this is coming from ... can Hiro really blame him? Not really. ]

I guess I've got no choice then.

[ Baymax smiles again. ]

You always have a choice, Hiro. Never forget that. And whatever you choose, I'm proud of you.

But I am admittedly curious to see where this training takes you. I think you'll surprise yourself as time goes on.

Won't hurt to try, anyway. And Jaime won't show me the cool stuff until --

[ Wait. That's the second time he's said Jaime's name. Not even thinking about using his friend's pseudonym ... ]

Yeah ... Oh man, I promised not to tell. I'm the worst at this.

Let him know that you slipped it to me, at least. It's only fair that he's aware of who does and doesn't know his identity.

And while I don't think identities are tokens to be bartered and traded, if he's someone you trust to be your mentor, it's all right if you tell him who I am as well.

He's a good guy. He's a really good guy. At least I didn't tell you his superhero name too ...

Let's not talk about it any further for the time being, then, in case something else might slip.
