WHO: Dick Grayson and Wally West
WHERE: Random Heropa Rooftop
WHEN: Night of 04/20
WHAT: Trying to get the handle of their situation. Discussing new powers and all that.
WARNINGS: N/A; will update on the off chance it's necessary.

It was inevitable that they'd eventually team up and try to get their bearings. They were Robin and Kid Flash! If there was a second dynamic duo, it was the two of them, without a doubt, and if one were to ask Wally, he'd say they did it with better style. Still, Dick had seemed a little off in their previous conversations, but that could have been explained by any number of things. They were in a different world with a bunch of strangers from other worlds, and so on.

A chat was clearly in order.

Wally had taken the initiative to text Dick a location to meet up. He decided to be nice and give his bestie some home field advantage by picking a rooftop, even if it was a pain to run up walls. Thanks to Barry not being around to drag him down, he was actually early and settled down, looking at the city lights as he waited.

Dick had felt a little off since their arrival. The sudden abduction to another world was one thing, but, he told himself, he could handle that part. It was the lack of direction that was getting to him. Batman would know what to do, but Batman wasn't here. Which in his mind left him in charge (not that he'd told Wally that). The pressure to make things right was getting to him, but he didn't have the first idea of where to start.

He hoped a real talk with Wally would help. Somewhere far away from roommates and strangers, where he didn't have to pretend to be Dick Grayson, ninth grader.

Heropa was small — much smaller than Gotham — and finding the location was easy even though he'd never been there. No one seemed to pay him any attention as he made his way to the roof. He wondered if that was due to his new powers, or if people here just had a different attitude to things like that. More things for him to mull over.

At least he could still get the drop on Wally. That always lifted his mood. He crept across the rooftop to where Wally was waiting, getting as close as he could and leaning in with a grin on his face.

"You're early."

Dick let Wally elbow him, and returned the favor with a light punch to Wally's shoulder. He'd never admit it in a million years, but he was glad Wally was such a physical guy. Sometimes it was nice just having the contact, even if it was only an elbow or a fistbump. Kept him grounded, or something like that.

"What," Dick replied with a chuckle, "Captain Clean-It? He's pretty tiny, but I'm still number one. He's got a whole inch on me, at least." He held his hand up just above his head for emphasis.

"Still the superior piggyback ride candidate," he added, leaning backwards against the raised ledge at the edge of the roof. "In case you were considering alternate teamups." Yeah, right.

After a few long moments, Dick slumped down to sit next to Wally, knees pulled up to his chest. He followed his friend's gaze out across what apparently passed for a skyline out here. Wherever here really was.

"I appreciate the lack of understatement." He ran a hand through his dark hair, frowning vaguely. "It'd be easier if there was... I don't know, something to fight, or a lead to follow, a mystery to solve, anything. But I don't even know what we're doing here." It was hard to admit that he had no idea where to begin. It felt a little like failing before he'd even started — a fact that he was trying his best to ignore.

Dick's brow furrowed. He appreciated Wally's easy optimism, his ability not to overthink everything, but... Batman wouldn't figure it out as he went along. He'd already have a plan in place. And Batman wasn't here. As far as Dick was concerned, that left him to fill those shoes.

"Yeah, but doesn't handling stuff mean, you know, handling stuff?" He spread his arms in a sort of helpless shrug. "Not just going to crazy alternate universe high school and waiting for something bad to happen or a clue to fall into our laps."

"Not by ourselves, sure. But I bet we could reverse engineer that thing that brought us here," Dick said. "Whatever it was. If they'd ever let us back in there." It was partly wishful, partly bragging, but he half believed it. Or wanted to, at least. Not that it was going to happen, not a chance, but the thought made him feel a little better. They were geniuses, weren't they? He'd been trained by Batman, and Wally had blown himself up for his super speed.

He shifted closer to Wally, casting a sidelong glance at his best friend. The corner of his mouth twitched up in the smallest of smiles. "We're worth at least one and a quarter Justice Leaguers, you and me put together. Right?"

"One and a half," he corrected. "My bad. I must have been thinking height." Even if it was just wishful thinking, having Wally there to back it up and play along perked him up a bit. Wally was always good at dragging him out of a funk. Not— not that he'd been in one. Not that he'd admit.

"And hey, that sounds very doable. All in a day's work. You can brush up on string theory in like an hour, right? We'll bust ourselves out of here in no time." He nudged Wally gently with his elbow.

"Details, details." Dick waved a hand dismissively. "But yeah, okay. Point. Not used to saving for machines capable of interdimensional travel on a part-time store clerk budget." So much for his momentary flight of fancy. Not that he thought they actually could, but bragging about it was kind of fun.

With a sigh, he folded his hands behind his head, leaning back and looking up at the sky. So now what? "Gonna need to start counting my pennies. That's new."
