WHO: Dick Grayson and Wally West
WHERE: Random Heropa Rooftop
WHEN: Night of 04/20
WHAT: Trying to get the handle of their situation. Discussing new powers and all that.
WARNINGS: N/A; will update on the off chance it's necessary.
It was inevitable that they'd eventually team up and try to get their bearings. They were Robin and Kid Flash! If there was a second dynamic duo, it was the two of them, without a doubt, and if one were to ask Wally, he'd say they did it with better style. Still, Dick had seemed a little off in their previous conversations, but that could have been explained by any number of things. They were in a different world with a bunch of strangers from other worlds, and so on.
A chat was clearly in order.
Wally had taken the initiative to text Dick a location to meet up. He decided to be nice and give his bestie some home field advantage by picking a rooftop, even if it was a pain to run up walls. Thanks to Barry not being around to drag him down, he was actually early and settled down, looking at the city lights as he waited.

He hoped a real talk with Wally would help. Somewhere far away from roommates and strangers, where he didn't have to pretend to be Dick Grayson, ninth grader.
Heropa was small — much smaller than Gotham — and finding the location was easy even though he'd never been there. No one seemed to pay him any attention as he made his way to the roof. He wondered if that was due to his new powers, or if people here just had a different attitude to things like that. More things for him to mull over.
At least he could still get the drop on Wally. That always lifted his mood. He crept across the rooftop to where Wally was waiting, getting as close as he could and leaning in with a grin on his face.
"You're early."

"Yeah, well, it's not like I can afford to be fashionably late all the time." Because that was what all of those other times were due to. He huffed and lightly tried to elbow Dick.
"So how're you feeling about not being the shortest one around anymore?" Start the conversation light. Rib on the roommates. He hadn't actually compared Dick and Levi, but it was pretty obvious that the latter was tiny.

"What," Dick replied with a chuckle, "Captain Clean-It? He's pretty tiny, but I'm still number one. He's got a whole inch on me, at least." He held his hand up just above his head for emphasis.
"Still the superior piggyback ride candidate," he added, leaning backwards against the raised ledge at the edge of the roof. "In case you were considering alternate teamups." Yeah, right.

"You must be so proud to still have your position." He left it at that, though, and turned about so that he could lie on his belly and continue to glance out at the rest of the city. This wasn't like Gotham or Central - this city felt... smaller, in a way. "I guess you manage to make the cut as best partner one more time."
He waits a few seconds before continuing, kicking his legs lightly back and forth in the air.
"So this whole situation's kind of... really messed up, isn't it?" Ending up in another world, not having their team or their mentors- their families.

"I appreciate the lack of understatement." He ran a hand through his dark hair, frowning vaguely. "It'd be easier if there was... I don't know, something to fight, or a lead to follow, a mystery to solve, anything. But I don't even know what we're doing here." It was hard to admit that he had no idea where to begin. It felt a little like failing before he'd even started — a fact that he was trying his best to ignore.

"Sounds like questions 'forty-two' can't answer, so maybe we shouldn't worry about it so much?" Leave it to Wally to try lightening the mood with a pop culture reference. He managed an easy grin and then reached over to bump Dick's shoulder with a fist. "We'll figure it out as we go along, dude. Just think, if we couldn't manage it, we wouldn't have the team. No Supey, no proving to the League that we can handle stuff."
Wally wasn't going to let his friend sink under the weight of uncertainty; not today.

"Yeah, but doesn't handling stuff mean, you know, handling stuff?" He spread his arms in a sort of helpless shrug. "Not just going to crazy alternate universe high school and waiting for something bad to happen or a clue to fall into our laps."

Still, this was a bit of a difficult situation, and he ended up looking off to the city. He let out a breath.
"We'll just keep our eyes open for any way out."

He shifted closer to Wally, casting a sidelong glance at his best friend. The corner of his mouth twitched up in the smallest of smiles. "We're worth at least one and a quarter Justice Leaguers, you and me put together. Right?"
no subject
"Hah, totally, Rob. More like one-and-a-half."
no subject
"And hey, that sounds very doable. All in a day's work. You can brush up on string theory in like an hour, right? We'll bust ourselves out of here in no time." He nudged Wally gently with his elbow.
no subject
"Yeah, right. But you're kinda forgetting that we'd need to get materials too, y'know?" It wasn't like they had the cave's resources here, or Batman's money. Anything they needed would require A LOT of saving, favors, or well- theft. Wally wasn't exactly... above the last one in this scenario, but he wasn't sure he was going to push Dick down that path.

With a sigh, he folded his hands behind his head, leaning back and looking up at the sky. So now what? "Gonna need to start counting my pennies. That's new."
no subject
"Let's hit the city, dude." And then he gave Dick's hair a light ruffle, before dashing off for the streets below.
