WARNINGS: Basically whatever you'd expect when you throw a bunch of new people in together and expect them to get along
It's been a hell of a week. Between the chaos that the swearing-in devolved into and York's role in helping to rescue Miles Edgeworth, for his part, he's close to exhausted. It's a whole different kind of stress compared to what he'd had when he'd been brought here—sure, being on the run after defecting from a military project was mentally stressful, but it was also fraught with boredom and involved spending a lot of time simply hiding. He'd barely spent any time at his assigned housing and since North had invited him to stay here instead, he'd mostly been coming in late and leaving early, taking care of what he felt he needed to.
It's North who convinces him to slow down and let himself rest, because of course he would. He doesn't have to come in, of course—North can't make him—but it's North, and he's so convincing and so soothing about it. Once they're done talking over the network York comes right to the house. He doesn't head to the room he had claimed for himself, going instead to the kitchen, where a truly excellent smell was permeating the air. He strips his helmet and his gloves and goes over to where North is working.
"Goddamn, that smells good," York says. If he hadn't been in his armor he would have gone over and leaned his head against his friend's shoulder, but since that's in the way he just settles for being far too much in the way—hips backed up to the counter, one foot propped up on the cabinet door, and arms crossed.
