WHO: Participants in Operation Archangel
WHERE: Maurtia Falls
WHEN: Mingling posts will be throughout July; Battle posts will be August 5th
WHAT: Archangel is back on its feet, preparing its members, and striking back where it counts.
WARNINGS: Violence, drug mentions and other such unpleasantness.
Open Prompts -- Month of July
Meet n' Greet
Things are a little different in the ranks of Archangel these days, starting with the most noticeable change: cells. Each cell has their own base, and no cell knows the base of another. Certainly makes things seem a little bit smaller, doesn't it? Of course, that means that, like it or not, you've got people in your team you need to get to know and prepare to trust with your life. Do you think you'll all get along like peas in a pod? Or like cats and dogs? Only way to find out is to strike up a conversation and see where it goes. On the upside, you get to try on your new uniform while you're there.
Training
You've come a long way from your beginning days as an operative -- but that doesn't mean your work is finished. Whether you're a seasoned war veteran or a scrub just getting your feet wet, you still have a lot to learn both about the enemies you'll face and working seamlessly with your new team. Your commanding officer will be on hand to help you every step of the way, and ol' Cap will be making the rounds to check on your progress... and maybe go a round in the ring with you, if you're looking for a sparring partner. Want to get to know your fellow cells? Not a problem; after everyone's gotten a good skill set they've put to the test, the cells will have the chance to intermingle and go head to head.
Investigation
Sure, all this punching and fight clubbing might be the cat's pajamas, but there's work to be done, isn't there? If you're the type to like a bit of digging around in the dirt, you'd better believe you'll have some work ready for you. Want to get some slanderous info about the local "hero" cops? Or maybe discover some weaknesses in the defenses of the cartels they've made deals with? If you can think of it, it probably needs to be done. Grab one of your teammates for a romp, or bump into another cell's operative and team up to cover more ground.
Battle Prompts -- August 5th
Party Poopers: Heiji, Sabriel, Clark, Jo, Hawke, Nysrog, Batgirl, and any member of the Knights of the Red Branch
Who doesn't like a good party? You, apparently. Way to harsh everybody's groove, pal. There's a lot to be done here, from sneaking in to securing the exits, straight on through to throwing caution to the wind and setting off an explosive or two before running into the chaos and rounding up the scattering cops like wayward sheep. Of course, these sheep are armed -- and they have sharks. Yes, dear friend, once things get wild and crazy some dastardly member of the police will let slip the proverbial hounds of war, and you'll have a few land sharks nipping at your heels while you make as many casualty-free arrests as you can and try to avoid ending up as a special feature on the Discovery Channel.
Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dick: Kaidan, Glitch, and Kanaya
Getting the drop on a pair of baddies sure seemed like a good idea, didn't it? Too bad that "getting the drop" ended up as less of an easy arrest and more of a boy-they-sure-do-look-ticked-off sort of scenario. Captain Dee and Captain Randall didn't come to check their product without being prepared for potential difficulties, and they're apparently armed to the teeth -- and we're not talking guns. Are you ready to rumble? Because the exit is blocked so you'd best prepare yourself, compadre.
The Big Kahuna: Kasumi, Shepard, and Motoko
So, here you are: Ready to take on the Big Kahuna himself. Chief Tanner sure doesn't look like the worst thing you've ever seen, does he? Of course, it's a little hard to say that when he leads you on a bit of a chase to some heavy duty equipment he'd been having a look at. Great Gatsby, is that a goddamned mech? Seems like you might have your work cut out for you, after all. There's a hell of a lot of guns on that thing, so you'd best be ready to use the 5 D's: dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge.
Wildcard
Alright, so maybe you're doing a little Archangel work that doesn't quite fit the bill you were looking for. That's okay, bub; you do you, in all your majestic glory. Just don't get your ass caught or Captain America will give you such a talking to. Just know, he's not mad -- he's just disappointed.

The Big Kahuna: Kasumi, Shepard, and Motoko
So, here you are: Ready to take on the Big Kahuna himself. Chief Tanner sure doesn't look like the worst thing you've ever seen, does he? The Big Kahuna

Depending, of course, on what happens with those God damned imPorts.
Those are kept mostly out of Tanner's mind, however, as his attention is focused on the impressive piece of tech he now has the pleasure to examine from a platform situated at its chest. Standing at an imposing 15 feet, the mech is a damn fine piece of work -- not that he shows his thoughts on the matter one way or another. The chief's poker face is without rival.
As far as he knows, security here is as tight as it can be, which is why he remains mostly at ease as he stands before the prototype with his arms crossed over his chest. There are few better chances to catch him off guard than this. ]

And Kasumi's always been the better half.
As such, it hadn't taken much for the thief, with some help from the Major, to hack into the security comms, and then into the cameras. The first was to keep track of the few guards stationed on patrols or on standby for a smooth entry (evidently, they had enough confidence in the automated systems to only keep handful of a force handy). The cameras were easy enough; just a few algorithms to run and some decryptions, and boom. To the people in the surveillance office, nothing looks suspicious, while the real feed gets... fed to all three of them one way or another, be it omni-tool or communicator or whatever else the strike team had at their disposal.
Getting in is always easy. Getting out later will be the fun part.
Kasumi herself is situated--well, in the air ducts. Because on an infiltration job like this, someone's always gotta be in the vents, and Kasumi's... stature has always lent itself the most easily to being the vent gal. It's all the same to her, because from there she can keep track of what's going on without also worrying about whether or not she's been seen. She's above the room which houses Tanner's mech, and she peers through the vents above and has stop herself from whistling when she realizes what he's looking at. At length, she speaks into her comm to Shepard and Motoko, both of whom she's hoping are in position. ]
Hey team, I've got a visual. And it's a visual alright. Are you seeing this on the feed? He's, uh... got a giant robot.

Unlike Kasumi, Shepard's too bulky to have any hope of even halfway fitting into a vent, and he doesn't have a single bit of stealth tech on him. He's positioned by one of the main entrances leading into the warehouse, the most logical point of entry for any reinforcements if Tanner raises the alarm. So far, so good. When Kasumi transmits the image to his comms, he huffs slightly. ]
On the bright side, it doesn't look like it can fly.

Damn it, there's no mention of that thing in their records. Shepard, I'm moving in to back you up.
[She jerks the cable connecting the ports at the back of her neck to the server free and darts out of the room, activating her thermoptic camouflage as she leaves. She weaves through the corridors--easy enough when you have the blueprints memorized--until she comes across Shepard. He probably hears her before actually seeing her, and she de-cloaks on the other side of the main door.]
I suggest we apprehend him before he has a chance to activate that mech.

I didn't come here to admire the paint job. Show me the cockpit.
[ With a polite little nod, the fellow types a few lines of code into a screen on his wrist and the torso opens, letting down a ramp that allows the Chief to walk up and get his head in to look over what it has to offer. Hey, maybe you'll all get lucky and he doesn't know how to operate it? ]
no subject
[ And with that, Kasumi Goto has very likely jinxed them all. She keeps her eyes trained on the scene unfolding in front of her, though, taking the moment to get a quick head count on his (likely armed) escorts. ]
He's got company, too. Four guys. Too stocky to be engineers, but they're definitely not MFPD, either. I'm gonna take a wild guess and say they're probably thugs.
[ There's only so much visual she can feed into their comms from the vents, but she hopes her description will be enough. ]
Let me know once you're in position.

[ Shepard huffs, softly, but he keeps moving, movements quick and fast. He has the layout of the place memorized, and he shifts into position, moving until he's inside the room itself, but tucked behind a pile of crates that keep him out of sight, and he can hear Tanner's voice indistinctly in the distance, and peeking quickly out of cover lets him see the backs of the thugs. He lowers his voice. ]
In position. I've got a visual.

[And considering that the last time she faced off against a mech it blasted off one of her arms and nearly crushed her brain case, she'd rather not repeat the experience. She slips into the room behind Shepard and activates her optical camo. She skirts the outside edge of the room before planting herself behind a column with good line of sight at both Tanner and the mech.]
In position as well. We need to pick up the pace. [She didn't like the look of that open cockpit at all.]
