MY HEART IS LIKE AN OPEN HIGHWAY
WHO: Kaneda
rassera and YOU!
WHERE: The streets of Nonah, Heropa, or De Chima
WHEN: Early August before the swear-in, from 9pm (ish) - 2am (ish)
WHAT: Open/Catch-all post for early August! Kaneda lives the night life, and that means some intense biking is going on the streets of Nonah, Heropa, and De Chima. Feel free to run into him for crazy nighttime shenanigans/bike rides. If you have something specific feel free to PM me!
WARNINGS: DISOBEYING TRAFFIC LAWS AND SPEED LIMITS COME GET HIM COPPERS
Ah, Nonah. Kaneda had gotten familiar enough with his surroundings here. It hadn't taken all that long. You usually memorize the streets within your first week. But that didn't mean he enjoyed them any less. There was something about them, maybe how easier it was to turn there, or he felt he could push the limits a bit more. Either way, it made for a therapeutic bike ride, looking back as his bike lights trail behind him like a tail. He was so used to there being other bikes behind him, like a pack he was responsible for. There was a certain loneliness that came with this flavour of going out for a ride.
But he tried not to think of it like that. He preferred 'nice and quiet'.
Peaceful.
That doesn't discourage him from making a few stops, though, to either stretch his legs or to get a better look at his surroundings. Maybe see if there's a bar (You can't drink, asshole) or late night eating spot. Burgers weren't his favourite food, but they did in a pinch when he didn't feel like going out to De Chima.
Heropa provided a different kind of atmosphere (and it was a drive for Kaneda, meaning he could zone out a bit as he headed there) than Nonah had. It was more humid, enough for him to not even wear his jacket. The traffic was a little more than Nonah tonight, but that gave him more practice. Weaving in and out of cars was something he'd always done in Neo Tokyo, but he had way more going for him here. With his powers, crashes weren't the end of the world, and if luck was on his side, he could--
Ah, there. He leans into a turn suicidally, wheels pratically parallel to the pavement. Any normal rider should have wiped out...technically he would have if he pushed it any more. But luck...seemed to be on his side tonight (something that will remain as just 'luck' too, if asked) and he pulls back up and straight down the street again, doing the same for a couple more blocks before skidding to a stop.
Putting his bike in park, he practically bounds out of his seat, doing a little victory hype as he just...lets that adrenaline run through him. His hand reaches up, slinging the goggles off his eyes as he leans against the brick wall of a building.
His heart beat almost enough to burst out of his chest, and it felt great.
Sometimes Kaneda drove all the way out to De Chima. If any place felt like home, it was here, and it wasn't just because of the takeout (Although to be fair, that was the main reason he was going tonight. He's not driving at the moment, deciding to take a break from all the speed racing he's been doing (heck, he pretty much sped over from Nonah for this. His bike's parked outside one of the many takeout restaurants that De Chima has to offer, Kaneda himself only just exiting with two bags of takeout.
One sits in the seat as he leans against the windshield of his bike, one hand holding chopsticks and the other supporting one of the cartons. This...this was the closest to home he could get, and man did it work like a salve on a worn down kid's heart. Not that there was much of a home to go back to, but he missed it all the same.
Before everything fell apart.
The other sits untouched, despite Kaneda's vicious appetite. That was for something(one) else.

Okay maybe not that far, Gamagori himself likes a little punishment, not that he ever gets it. He's usually such a good boy.
He'll stare, seeing that... look. he glances to the light too, then back to Kaneda, his gaze heavy.
"Don't you dare."
Oh. But then he does. Very quickly. He'll not stand for this! And by that I mean he'll drive, shooting forward to try and catch up, his car growling deep beneath him. Speeds great! But speed with a purpose, even more. He'll catch up to that little...

His bike speeds up, trail lights providing a long (and easy) path to follow, not that it worries Kaneda any. His laugh echoes as he turns the corner, fully expecting to hear a car engine in pursuit at any moment. A little game of tag? He could live with that.
"Try and keep up Gama!!"
He'd be disappointed if you didn't.
I never get to use this icon. u-u
authority.
Being it, giving it, or being under it's hand.
EITHER WAY! HELMET LAWS AND DRIVING SAFETY IS IMPORTANT!!!
Even if he's kind of... speeding himself now to catch up. he might have a little problem with road rage?
He's following after smoke and lights, the bike not far infront of him now with how fast he himself is going, willing to speed to catch up. His intentions are good, he just gets in the moment. That he he DOES like to go fast. He both loves the power and rush behind the wheel, and the danger all together. He follows with his heart racing and his expression mad, grinning, turning hard enough to make his wheels screech.
"I WILL NOT NEED TO TRY! I NEVER NEED TO TRY! I SIMPLY DO AS I MUST!"
I cant look at it without laughing
EITHER WAY! CAN'T BE TAMED CAN'T BE CAUGHT!!
Kaneda hears the engine roar of the car, looking at one of the rear view mirrors on the side to get a better look. And that...was much closer than he'd thought. Not that Kaneda was really worried. He was fully prepared to give Gamagori a run for his money. The question was...
Could Gamagori keep pace?
His hand reaches towards his interface panel, pressing a button or two as the engine roars higher, swerving a little before making a turn, leaning into it suicidally before racing off in another direction.
Good, this is good.
He certainly was going to try and keep pace, that's for sure. As long as Kaneda didn't drive into any places that car of his couldn't fit. It's not a hover car after all, and it's pretty huge, matching it's driver rather well. But he'd follow, fast too, willing to speed up to stop this lawbreaker but overly conscious of people and pedestrians too, even at this speed.
"He! Huh!?" Watching Kaneda swerve and he slows down just incase, only to see him burst forward faster, swerving and leaning so deep his side is almost touching the pavement as he turns. "HAH!" Barks out, turning his arms fast and spinning his wheel to follow after him, the back of his car whipping around a little before he jerks the wheel to straighten it again.
"GIVE UP, KANEDA! WE C AN ONLY GO SO FAST IN THESE CITY STREETS, YOUR TURNS WILL ONLY SLOW YOU DOWN, INTO MY GRASP!"
no subject
It isn't until he hears Gamagori call out to him that he thinks of something. 'Into his grasp', huh? He could work with that. He makes one more turn, onto one of Nonah's more straight roads and waits for the right moment, when Gamagori is right behind him. With a look back, he sizes up the distance, readying himself a moment before he starts to...stand up in his seat. Kaneda's bike was one that sat a little lower than most, so he has to inch up a bit to lean his butt against the back, letting the auto-drive handle itself for a moment.
Not that he'd need it, anyway.
Because with a push of his legs, he jumps backwards, snapping his fingers so his bike disappears. With his inertia still in effect, he falls backwards, barely scraping by over the windshield of Gamagori's car and hooks his hand on the passenger seat, pulling himself in the very back.
And putting his feet up on the seat in front of him.
"You mean like this?"
no subject
"Huh!?" A heavy gasp as he suddenly looks over to the sudden BOY IN HIS CAR. But isn't his
he-
what!?
He looks forward fast towards Kaneda's bike, is it okay? Is it just driving thew same as before? Is it gone? What if it hits someone???
no subject
Don't worry, Gama, the bike's nowhere to be found, as if it was never on the road. The lights have dissipated by now, leaving no trace that there ever was a bike driving in front of him.
"So...what's on the radio?"
His feet lower as he leans over the front seat, to fiddle with it. Aren't you so glad he's your friend?
no subject
He watches the road for a while before Kaneda's voice catches his attention again. Gamagori slows down to a more... suitable speed now. There's no need to speed in the name of justice now... right? Kaneda is uh... safely in his car.
"Um."
"I'm not sure." Watching him, really having no idea how to react to what just happened. Though...
Looking forward again, pulling in a deep breath. "That was impressive Kaneda... You were not wrong about your skills on a motorcycle."
no subject
But he smiles at the compliment, letting go of the knob as he returns that arm to the back of the seat. "Not so bad yourself. I'd love to see a real test of speed between us. Outside city limits."
no subject
"It's good to know the driving you do in city isn't a full display of your ability!" Both because that means a 'real test' might be really fun, and because that means whether Kaneda says it outloud or not, he was being more careful in city. He wouldn't suggest a real test else where if he wasn't.
"Challenging a bike against a this car, do you think you'll fair well?" Snaps his hand over, smacking at Kaneda's hand.
"Seat belt!"
no subject
His head rests on the seat, 'yawning'. "Drains the battery for no reason!"
At the 'seat belt' remark, he sticks his tongue out like an actual 5-year-old. Mature.
"I'll kick your ass, that's what I'll do!"
