[ There's an almost full grown brittany spaniel trotting up to you holding its own leash in its mouth. Annie's still sprinting up the path Rex had taken off up ahead of her; she rounds the bend even as Rex sits in front of you and wags his tail.

He's a good boy, right? Right? Give his head a pet, he's taking one of his owners out running. He's such a good boy. ]

[ Don't ask. Annie has no good story to tell for why this has happened, but it has.

And she is walking down the sidewalk with a giant stuffed squid in her arms. It is so large she can't keep its arms from dragging on the ground behind her, mostly because each time she's wrapped them around herself a few have come loose anyway.

This is Annie, resigned, all of five feet tall and carting along a squid that's twenty feet of stuffed, tentacled goodness. And if you end of stepping on a tentacle: ]

[ Whereas if she runs into you at an intersection, she might ask: ]

[ Or if you catch her on the train, she may simply throw tentacles across the seat in front of her and sit next to the darn thing with an unimpressed look on her face. ]

If you mean was it related to their manipulation of nanites to impose their urges over imPorts, yes, it was.

They took control of the nanites! That's very interesting! I didn't realize they could take control of motor functions, or override powers, even!

What's stopping them from doing that again??

Well that's good! You seem to be rather knowledgeable about imPort history! Can you tell me what a 'Vanir' is?

... Mythology, mostly. If you mean what it was here, well... an older name for a group of individuals active in the prior decades. Part of them joined with the Hornets, or founded them, or something like that. You won't find much talking about them online. All the older sites and articles are down that I could find.

Hmm, Norse mythology, huh? That's a departure from the Greek Mythology theme I've seen discussed so far!

Perhaps they are unconnected to Lachesis, though, and merely picked the name as symbolic of their organization!

Lachesis came later. The one that touched the Porter in a way we acknowledge at least.

This world has had imPorts before. Lachesis had nothing to do with them. She took advantage of something that existed to bring some over from the City, that's all.

Do you the names of any imPorts that predated Lachesis's involvement?

Well, I want to get other people to help, but no one else is really contributing!

Ah... well, isn't Houka's AI helping with that to a degree? There's the write ups Kate's done, too. I think you'll find more out there than you believe at present.

Kate Bishop's FAQ formed a baseline for the wiki, but she isn't interested in contributing to the wiki, and is instead invested in keeping her attempted 'unbiased' FAQ updated!

Houka's AI ostensibly will answer questions to newly arrived imPorts, but I feel that self-directed investigation using a wiki-based resource is more accessible and organized! The Intro AI also is not interested in contributing directly to the wiki! Also it is not very friendly!

... Is that what she calls that document.

I have not met Houka myself, so I will defer to your opinion of his capabilities!

[ Houka's AI was definitely unfriendly to everyone, and not just imPorts that started conversations by trying to hack into them and find out personal specifications. ]
