[OPEN] One Armed Bandit
WHO: Kite and YOU!
WHERE: Martia Falls, and the Passione Casino
WHEN: Evening of 4/15
WHAT: Slot machines and also Kite is like Snow White or something, where did all these animals come from...
WARNINGS: None so far.
a; slots at the passione casino
[Kite had a lot on his mind. There was a lot of unfinished business back home that, even if he weren’t here, he wouldn’t have been able to finish anyway. Because as he reached out for his second small glass of liquor, he recalls the sharp and sudden pain of having his arm torn off.
There was more than that too, and the memory of the chimera ant’s aura alone is enough to send a chill up his spine, let alone the fight. The raw and sheer power of that creature. Even his best weapon and all his years of experience hadn’t been more than enough to scratch it.
Taking a sip of his drink, Kite’s perpetually stoic expression remains as such even with his buzz, and even as he reaches out to pull the arm of the slot machine. There’s an atmosphere of wanting to be left alone about him, but he’s really not as cold as he looks. He could do for some company instead of mulling over what he couldn’t change--over his own weakness, in a sense. There was some comfort in knowing his judgement was right, but that was all. He was still worried over a lot of things, and he could only hope that he had bought enough time for Gon and Killua to escape.
As roulette spins and lands on three of the same, sparse winnings pouring into the collector below, he only has one thing to say:] Hm...bad roll.
b; around martia falls with a kitty
[Back outside after spending most of the night in the casino, Kite lets out a long sigh as he tugs the brim of his hat down, trying to recall where the Porter was again. In retrospect, maybe he shouldn’t have come all the way out here just the gamble, but he was still getting settled in and needed something to do.
While he stands there lost in thought with a hand on his waist, a full grown cat passes by to purr and rub its side against his leg. Despite the bad week, he finds himself looking down and then crouching to reach out and pet the animal. At the same time his other hand comes round to search for a collar, but there is none.]
Pretty friendly for a stray… [Abandoned, then? That or it was an outdoor cat, or perhaps a restaurant owner’s favourite uninvited guest. At any rate, it seemed to be well kempt.]
c; the cats are multiplying
[Kite is walking again, but he's not alone now. The cat is following him still, and this time two more have joined it.
You know, he--
Has mixed feelings about cats suddenly.]
d; wildcard
[For anywhere around Martia Falls or the Passione Casino. Kite plays other games besides just the slots!]

B - jfc forgive the teal deer
...nah.
So there he is, walking, doing nothing in particular. Feeling the wind and the air, vaguely considering dropping by the Casino to visit... Hisoka, or Jolyne, whichever happens to be working tonight he's not even sure, when he feels... something.
Something familiar, and yet unfamiliar at the same time. Unmistakable. Power. And not just power - power in a form he knows, though the aura doesn't belong to anyone he's met.
Consider him interested. He quickens his step a bit, drawn by that feeling. And he knows the other will likely feel his approach - he hasn't bothered to suppress, though as always his aura is controlled, should feel relatively unremarkable - which means he also knows the other will probably not be surprised when he stops beside the cat, and looks over.
...definitely no one he knows. There's no way he'd forget such a figure - the gaunt figure alone would be memorable even with the acres of hair. Chrollo himself... well, he probably looks considerably less memorable right now, forehead covered and dressed casually, looking pretty boring. Even so. he expects to be interesting by default. After all, to a Nen User in a foreign world, there's nothing more interesting than another of their own. ]
Ah... what nice cat.
[He smiles a little, scratches behind its ear. And then stands upright with a nod.]
Do you always attract cats?
[Unspoken: Is that part of it? Your ability, that is.]
never apologize, teal deer are beautiful creatures
His hand stops petting the cat, pulling back and coming to his feet just in time for Chrollo to take his place. He's still feeling a little buzzed, so the pause before he answers seems longer than usual.]
No more or less than anything else. [Kite lifts a hand, pinching the brim of his hat.] A good Hunter gets along well with animals, not just cats.
prancing and majestic
Ahh, a Hunter, then.
[Yup, playing with the cat. You sure are cute, cat. Paku would like him.]
I never really got involved with that kind of thing... maybe that's why animals don't follow me.
[Welp, standing up. He gives a pleasant smile.]
Hopefully this isn't too forward, though. It's not common to feel that sort of aura in this place. Well, there are a few but still, given how many people there are here, I couldn't help but be curious.
tasty too
[Said rather plainly, not meant to be an insult--just simple fact, and then he's curiously addressing what Chrollo says next.]
Hm... [His odds must have been something to behold lately then, if they were really that uncommon.] You're the third Nen user I've met since my arrival a few days ago. How long have you been here?
what no dont say that
[He grins a little, but actually... yeah he doesn't. Not even a little.]
I've been there... three months? But most of the time I've been here, there's only been two people from our world, including me.
its a free country mf
Three months isn't terribly long... [In the grand scheme of things, anyway.] Who are the other two? Hunters, or just Nen users?
omg so morally offended help help
I said including me. So that would be me and...
[Stretches his arms a little, in front of him.]
...Hisoka? I couldn't say whether he's a Hunter or not.
[Or wouldn't, anyway - couldn't is a little strong.]
rest in pieces
Hisoka... [The one he saw in the casino. Chrollo didn't seem entirely sure though.] He works at the Passione Casino?
wow from 1 to violence in only a few replies
Yes, that's him. I do know him a little, but I'm not sure about his licensing status.
And I don't spend a lot of time gambling.
that's how Kite rolls
I just met him today...but I don't gamble much myself. [Even though he just walked out of the casino.]
It's strange. [The gambling? No, he's thinking about Nen and how no one else seems to have it. Not even the potential for it.]
what a... wait for it... BAD ROLL. ... im so sorry
Also, given the strength of Kite's aura, Chrollo is pretty sure Hisoka would have flirted with him SHAMELESSLY. It's. Pretty hilarious to think about. But he'll let the subject switch if that's what's happening. And he's not really sure it is. But...]
Ah? What's strange?
[...no better way to find out than to ask.]
WOW I'm leaving? bye
The auras of the people around here. [He leaves it at that, willing to elaborate if Chrollo asks, but figuring the answer is self-explanatory. To any seasoned Nen user, at least.]
NO DONT GO
[And yes, that's weird. Chrollo frowns, rubs the back of his neck a little.]
My understanding is that they're incapable of training their auras. But some of them, the other imPorts... they have similar abilities. Similar, but different.
*wide angle shot of an empty door way*
These abilities...do they still follow the same guidelines as Nen?
Ugh, I'm the abandoned! That's such a ... bad role. >_>
[He frowns a little, looks thoughtful.]
I think this world has rules of its own, as well. That's the only reason I can come up with for the way some people's abilities have been changed or bent.
YOU
People's abilities have been changed? [Kite raises his hand, as if considering his own Nen. He hasn't used special ability since arriving, but on those forms they handed him upon waking, he doesn't recall anything out of the ordinary.]
CACKLES SO LOUD
[Or a lot. But he doesn't talk about his primary abilities here. Better to keep that sort of thing under the lid, so to speak.]
But then again, some people find themselves exactly the same? It's... unpredictable.
no subject
I guess I should consider myself lucky. [He is alive, after all. Whatever happened to his powers at this point hardly mattered.]
I'm sure there's plenty of things the government here isn't telling us either, but that's not surprising. [Kite is cautious, but not exactly dismissive of the ones who brought him here.]
no subject
[I mean... yeah! Fuck the government! Chrollo has never liked them, never.]
I'd definitely say, just watch yourself. But I guess that's the same anywhere you go, especially if there are wars involved.
no subject
It's not different enough that I'm worried. [But he's spend enough time here, he thinks. Kite looks off down the street, feeling a little tired and--still tipsy.]
I'm going home now. Maybe we'll meet again sometime.
