If only he would stay
WHO: Edward Elric & Open
WHERE: Heropa, his alchemy shop
WHEN: eh, no particular date, just throughout the month of March I guess.
WHAT: A chance for anyone who wants something made/fixed to come talk to Ed about it. Or just gawk in horror at his dumb aesthetics as examples around the shop. Because this is Ed and Al is no longer here to run around fixing things in his brother's wake.
WARNINGS: None.
[Ed is busy as usual when he's not in the library, working in his shop. Transmuting things doesn't take long, it's just sometimes acquiring the materials that can take a bit depending what the customer wants. But he's been surprisingly accommodating so far. Even if some might not so much appreciate his particular sense in style once they see the finished products he's transmuted for them. He's at his front desk if anyone enters, reading while having some downtime but will look up and mark his place to pay attention to any potential customers.]

Ed? [ He comes to a stop in the entryway, a half-bemused expression crossing his face as he hovers there, still dressed in full police uniform -- until it occurs to him that he's letting the air inside, and he shuts the door behind him. ]

That's the one. You need something?
[Of course Ed would be too busy engrossed in his book to notice the commotion for the most part, or check his phone in a bit to have heard about the fugitive, if they really are still around the immediate area. But from the uniform he can tell Shepard is supposedly on duty at present.]

Just needed to ask a few questions. Have you heard any unusual noises or seen any unusual activity around here in the past few hours?
[ From the looks of it, though, Ed doesn't seem like he's moved from his spot in a while. ]

[But he is being honest, at least. Giving a half shrug and half sympathetic look if only because Shepard is someone he likes and trusts and would help more if he could.]
I can let you know if I do notice anything though. I mean, I'd offer to help out more but I know that sort of thing isn't so much the area I'm really allowed to do here. Especially if you're on duty right now.
[Because here, Ed's just a kid. A civilian. Even if he's also an imPort and was affiliated with the government back home. He's not anymore, not here in Heropa.]
no subject
[ So much for that. Still, five minutes either way won't make much of a difference, and he looks around with obvious curiosity. ]
What exactly do you ... do here?
no subject
[But then, Ed has some idea on how that can be, even if military life is different. Dealing with crime, that doesn't work on a schedule that always allows you to clock off on time on the dot.]
What do I do? I fix things. Or make them, using alchemy. So long as people have the materials and money to pay, I can help with most anything, really.

Ed caught his attention, and so Sylar added him to the research list, and here he was, stepping quietly into the shop and looking around, finally picking Ed out where he waited at the front desk.
And oh, he was so interesting. It was almost too much temptation to stand, the desire to cut inside and find out what made him tick, but instead he said: ]
Hi. Are you Ed?

So when Sylar enters, Ed simply shifts, tilting his head at the stranger as he places his bookmark in and closes his book.]
Yeah. Why? You need something fixed?

Now that he was looking right at him, it was obvious that there was something in there, something physical to the power that he probably - maybe - could take advantage of. If only he could get in to look at it. He desperately wanted to peel him open and see how he worked.
But not yet. He'd need to get close enough. Besides, anyone could walk in. ]
Actually, I want something made. You're an inventor, right?
no subject
[Of course he's used to people coming in. Used to using his alchemy to help - usually for a price. He's happy enough to do it and make use of the fact he can still use his alchemy here at all. He has no reason yet to suspect anything might be up.]
no subject
[ He looked disappointed, and rubbed at his jaw with his hand, glancing around awkwardly. ]
Actually it's because of my power. I'm trying to find something a bit like a gauntlet--something I can use to focus it while at the same time protecting my body.
[ And to demonstrate just what he meant he flicked his wrist, bringing to life flame about his fingertips. ] It doesn't burn, but I've gone through a couple of good shirts.

[Ed tilts his head slightly, listening, curious. The fire isn't as much a surprise as it might have been, given his superior's specialty in Flame Alchemy. There's a nod as he considers for a moment, trying not to think too much on Major Armstrong in particular with talk of gauntlets and his particular alchemy and style of sorts.]
If you're sure it wouldn't burn....I could transmute something from metal easily enough. If I figure that, I could have it done in minutes, if that once I find the materials I'd need for it. Any preferences on what it is made of?
[Of course, this guy might just be nervous in not quite knowing what to expect in just how Ed uses his alchemy, how long it might take.]
