Today in the pharmacy is pretty much like every other day. Lana's at the counter, chewing her gum and checking the Network in between customers, bored out of her mind. Walt is in and out of the shelves, filling prescriptions and mixing meds (and telling Lana to pay more attention and stop chewing gum). There's a bell at the counter to get their attention. The radio is playing some oldies station at a volume that's too quiet to pick out the lyrics, but too loud to ignore.

[ He colors a bit at that, kind of embarrassed. He's not sure what he thinks about being on any medication meant to help out his mind. His mental prowess has always been a point of pride for him. ]

I'm fine. I just - after the fire, I freaked out a little and went to see Crane. That's all. I dunno if I'll take any of it or not.

[bombshelled]

Look, there... [ She comes back over to the counter and leans in, talking more quietly so no one overhears. ] There's nothing wrong with needing to see a shrink, okay? What matters is that you're healthy. And happy.

[ He still ducks his head, deeply embarrassed. ]

Still, I can't let my brother find out. He'll really be worried. ... Have you ever gone?

[bombshelled]

[ Lana opens her mouth, hesitates, then answers, ] ...Yeah. After the thing with me and my mom, there was some court-ordered therapy. They wanted to figure out how much she'd influenced me, I guess.

Then, after... stuff... I kind of wanted to, but then I came here, and I haven't really gotten around to it.

[ Oh. Right. That does make sense. ]

... Dr. Crane seems pretty okay, if you want to try him. I think he helped me.

[bombshelled]

Yeah, I talked to him for his survey thing. Maybe I'll check him out.

[ But in the meantime, she'll just put Hiro's prescriptions in Mr. White's in-pile. ]

Should be a half hour or so before those are filled.

[ He nods, leaning idly against the counter. ]

What do you do in here while that kinda stuff gets done? ... Any weird pharmacy things that are fun to do here?

Nah, not really. I sort of... organize and clean and stuff? It's a really boring job.

[microbrobotics]

... Really? There's no upside at all?

[bombshelled]

Well... Mr. White's said he might try to teach me some chemistry stuff. So I guess it's educational?

[microbrobotics]

Chemistry is good. I've got a friend who's really good at that kind of stuff.

[bombshelled]

Yeah? Like, what sort of practical use does it even have?

[microbrobotics]

Um, there's the medicines that you're stocking? For one?

[bombshelled]

Okay, point. But like, outside of that.

[microbrobotics]

Pretty much every non-metal material ever? And literal rocket science, not to mention all kinds of other sciences. We test so much using chemistry.

[bombshelled]

[ Not only does Lana roll her eyes, she rolls her whole head. ]

Ugh, so nerd stuff, basically.

Nerd stuff is awesome, okay. And it pays great.

[bombshelled]

... Okay, that is a plus.

[ She remembers the money she and her mom had when they used to rob banks, and while the lifestyle wasn't great, it was nicer than living in state-assigned housing. ]
