They'd come from their homes to the military base in Cape Canaveral, and that was where they'd agreed upon meeting one another. The plan from thereon in was simple. (Maybe too simple to start with—Josuke had originally under planned, after all—but thanks to some helpful 'intervention' things were on course and running smoothly.) A hop, skip, and a jump away was the beach, but in order to be sure they were appropriately distanced from military property, those who were able and willing were to visit the garage and borrow vehicles that could be used to usher their small group a little ways down the coastline. And by the time they had all arrived at the designated location—an end of the beach decorated with bits of driftwood and only a very light dappling of footprints—the sky was already beginning to darken. The bands of color that had once streaked the horizon like the layers of a sedimentary rock were now fading to a beautiful blue-grey monochrome; the rippling waves looked less like glimmering silk and more like impenetrable velvet; and the sun was barely a glowing sliver, minutes away from disappearing entirely behind the skyline. It was cool, but not cold, and as the fire was struck, as it reached brightly skyward, flames dancing and crackling, warmth soon began to fan outward. Around the bonfire were blankets and towels for people to sit on. There were snacks of all kinds: marshmallows, chocolate, graham crackers, chips, and hot dogs—and there were skewers with which to stab several of these foods. There was a volleyball, too, pairs of binoculars, someone's media player and headphones, and a small cooler full of drinks on ice: water, some selections of soda, and of course...the alcohol. In short, everything anyone calling themselves a 'teenager' might need to cut loose on a Saturday night. |

[she cups her hands and keeps shouting at her as she retreats, somehow even more flustered by her leaving than her arrival. maybe it's because she's worried that questions will prompt someone else to come out and have a look, and then she'll be backed up into stupid lies when she just came out here to have fun.]
You better put on a shirt before you talk to him!
[...orrr maybe it's just that. somehow the idea of her talking to Josuke naked is even more upsetting than Annie talking to Hazel naked.]
no subject
[ hazel you basically confirm there's something to tell - and it's not that annie thinks josuke will but what. okay. paying attention to hazel now?
the hell, anyway. Annie pauses somewhere when the water's like, cresting at her thighs. she's not accosting anyone in the nude wow that's only for titan form? but - ]
That's kind of a secondary concern to me right now!
no subject
[nope, ok, no, she can't live in a world where this is not only happening but happening because of her. as Hazel's voice continues its amazing ascent into new heights of shrillness, she starts wading towards the shore.
there is no way she's going to let this happen!!!]
no subject
Actually, I'd be surprised if no one came down this way to see who's making all that noise in the first place...
no subject
Have you heard that bonfire snap when you toss a log into it? Nobody can hear us.
no subject
[ because sometimes you need to IS SHE KIDDING IS SHE NOT KIDDING it'd be hard to tell, though Annie is basically pacing Hazel to the shore. good work, you've got a ... nude... teen.......... to be absurd at. ]
Though you're right, I'll probably have to go get Josuke myself.
[ frack it's getting cold now that she's out of the water and there's just... you know, early spring coldness around. annie shivers, but you know what? she knew what she was getting into. she rubs one hand on her arm in a covert way of bringing a little promise of heat back into it as she waits. ]
no subject
Nope, no, no - not happening, no.
[she finally breaks out of the ocean and starts flapping her hands uselessly as she proceeds at a respectable clip towards Annie. she's not actually sure what she's going to do once she reaches her, but. plans are for babies.]
no subject
Admirable, what you do for those important to you. [ She turns and starts walking toward the bonfire. This time, it's because legitimately, her clothes are that direction, but it does look like she's still living up to her threat. ]
no subject
[alas, this is truly an example of 'poor communication kills'. there's no way for Hazel to know she's just going to grab her clothes, and so she goes immediately into survival mode.
and by survival mode I mean she's sprinting the rest of the distance between them and is totally going to try and tackle her to the ground.]
no subject
Which means the sound of pounding feet as Hazel sprints her way has her reacting like she's trained to over the years, turning to reduce how much of a target she presents and attempting to keep Hazel moving right by on her own momentum... grab hold of behind her neck, or at her shoulder... and sweep her legs. Tries. ]
no subject
what she does have, however, is an impossible amount of determination. as she goes down she latches onto Annie, grasping at any part of her body that she can get a grip on and clutching for dear life. if she's going down, she's bringing her naked nemesis down too.]
no subject
Which would lead to some awkward looking straddling, but this kind of grappling was so much a part of Annie's life she just acts naturally. Hazel wanted to bring her nemesis down, and Annie's just...
Two saltwater soaked ladies are having it out on the beach in a disorganized fashion.
It's a good night. Or a terrible night. no one really knows... ]
Generally people are polite enough to ask before deciding on an impromptu sparring session.
no subject
FOR THE MOMENT THOUGH EVERYTHING IS MEDIOCRE. because Annie most certainly comes down on her and straddles up, but she's incapable of feeling any of it so it doesn't really slow her down. instead she makes a very undignified squawking sound that trails into her equally shrill response.]
This isn't a spar! This is me stopping you!
[she says as she tries to grab onto Annie's wrists and try to kind of...roll her off so that it's harder for her to get up and run off again.]
no subject
[ Annie is not making catching her wrists easy, and she's... mostly just staying in place and attempting to keep Hazel from getting up or getting into a superior position. Annie actually looks serious by now, and mildly irritated too. People need to get their emotions under control. ]
no subject
[sorry Annie, you managed to swim into one of the biggest drama queens ever. Hazel eventually gives up on the wrist thing and settles for flailing energetically if aimlessly at the other girl instead. close enough.]
no subject
[ This is stupid this is all so stupid they're both wet and sand keeps getting thrown up and because they're wet it's sticking everywhere argh - though Annie holds her own for now, seriously not trusting that if she gets up and lets this person do the same, that she'll get to, you know, be left alone. ]
no subject
[come on they're already locked in MORTAL KOMBAT don't play stupid like this.
it's already dumb enoughalthough that assessment isn't untrue, until she's certain there isn't going to be any flashing she's not going to let up.]no subject
[ Annie narrows her eyes. Fine. She can make guesses based on what she's witnessed of Josuke, and what she's been observing since they first met. Hazel, who she thinks of as "unnamed hysterical underwater person," shows a degree of firm attachment to Josuke, and a desire to "protect" him from "naked girl" Annie.
There's a way to win this and kill two metaphorical birds with one well aimed slingshot stone. ]
JOSUKE HIGASHIKATA!
[ Annie has some impressive lungs on her when she needs to use them, though she very, very rarely does. She bets Josuke will hear her, partly because he seems to be the sort who keeps a vague eye on people in his immediate vicinity, and partly because he seems to be a Genuinely Nice Person. She also bets the last thing UHUP wants is for Josuke to make it over here. Which means, after yelling for him, she looks Hazel straight in the face and makes her offer: ]
You have two options. Keep fighting me here, and let him come find us both, or stand up and go distract him the moment I let you stand. You're tenacious. I'm sure you can come up with some way of keeping his attention focused on you long enough to get him back to the fire.
[ PONY UP, UHUP. ]
So what's it going to be?
no subject
Still, long legs, long stride...better think fast, Hazel!]
no subject
as it is she just makes this incomprehensible sound before leaning up as far as she can with a nude woman on top of her and hisses:]
How is this easier than putting on a shirt?!?
[as if Hazel hasn't contributed significantly to this really stupid situation. but she's stopped flailing and there's an air of defeat in the way she's holding herself, so even though she can't bring herself to say it aloud her answer is pretty obvious.]
no subject
[ It's a question Annie would love to ask her. Regardless, the almost-calm-defeat that's going on here is enough to prompt Annie into a cautious sense of "this plan will work."
Thus she stands in a swift, smooth motion, moving to the side and angling so that her backside is facing the guy ambling along the beach. Quick, Hazel, since no one's smashing your skull in today, use that currently all-collected brain and go make good on your defeat and relegation to "the distraction." ]
no subject
What the hell were these two up to?
He's closer now, doing a lot of dropping his gaze toward the sand and then back up to them again, when he calls out...]
One of you guys shout for me? What's...going on?
no subject
there's no time for her to stand up (except there totally is) so instead Hazel army crawls with startling rapidity to close the way too small distance between the two of them and Josuke and make a grab at his ankles to try and pull him to the ground like some kind of terrifying beach gremlin. the sand is soft, this is a totally sound plan.]
Get down!
no subject
Running only attracts attention, after all. If anyone is watching her leave, it's a very pale moon waking its way inland toward a point closer to the fire. Annie brushes sand off her arm as she goes. ]
no subject
And then? Back to Hazel and laughing, because what is she even...
For all her prompting and grabbing for his ankle, Josuke doesn't drop, though. In fact, he steps back, brows hiking upwards upon his forehead, expression still largely questioning despite his grin.]
What are you, some kind of crab now? How about you get up instead?
[And because he can be a gentleman sometimes (although when it comes to Hazel he really ought to know by now that it rarely pays off) he holds out his hand for her to take.]
You're getting covered in sand.
