This is what it means to have a family
WHO: Bat Friends, Family, and Guests
WHERE: Alfred's hotel, in a private room
WHEN: The evening of 11/27
WHAT: Turkey Day Dinner
WARNINGS: N/A
Setting this dinner up had been a bit of a to-do. He had briefly discussed it with Bruce, but beyond having the younger man's approval for the event it had been largely left up to Alfred. And having it at their government assigned house had been out of the question. It would have been inconvenient for the other members of their household and besides that, there were secret identities that needed to be kept as well.
After some consideration, Alfred settled on one of the rentable rooms in the hotel he worked at. It would be large enough to accommodate and it wouldn't be odd to see various people coming and going from it if there were people who wished to keep their acquaintances here unknown. This particular room had already been housing one of the hotel's large banquet tables, so that was taken care of. A narrow table was moved into the room the day before in order to hold all the various dishes that would be available.
On Thanksgiving day, Alfred is there bright and early. Some of the hotel staff is assisting with preparing the food and moving it into the room. Six large turkeys and some tofurkey are in the center of the table surrounded by a spread that includes stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, corn pudding, green bean casserole, dinner rolls, crescent rolls, hot crab dip, crackers, a large tossed salad, glazed sweet potatoes, deviled eggs, pumpkin pie, and apple pie.

walks in belatedly :( also hope you don't mind prose
After receiving Clark's invite, she puts on a decent blouse and sweater combo, along with some nice pants and flats, and joins everyone at the address she's been given. She doesn't mingle for long, eventually taking some time to scope out the hotel Alfred manages. Talk about fancy.
She finds Bruce not too long into her wandering. It's apparent he's hanging back, something she recognizes as she's done it herself many times in the past.
She lifts a hand in greeting as she approaches.
"Happy Thanksgiving, Bruce."
prose is love, belated is lovelier
If not for her sake, then for Clark's. Bruce is sharp enough to see that he's a fish out of water himself, although the same could be said for anyone here, but Bruce is fortunate to be surrounded by all these people - family - even if they aren't strictly his. The alternative, to have known it and be here alone regardless, seems lonely to him, and truly these people are beginning to grow on him. He wants them to be happy.
He stepped forward - away from the wall - so that she didn't have to cloe the entire distance herself, smiling warmly. "I'm a little out of my depth, but--would you care for a soda? Sparkling water?"
Not that he has to pretend not to drink wine around people he already knows.
no subject
"How about sparkling wine if you've got any?"
She's not much of alcohol person, though it's hard to be when you can't get drunk on Earthly alcohol.
"This is a nice place. How'd Alfred come by it?"
no subject
If anyone could find it, Bruce could--then again it was put aside to prevent the kids
Flashesfrom getting their hands on it. As he searches in a wardrobe, Bruce casts a glance back over his shoulder."Alfred works as the hotel manager here. He can more or less reassign rooms as he needs to. Ah--ah, here we go."
And here's a bottle of champagne. Even if she can't get drunk on it, at least it's the kind that tastes nice. He peels open the foil wrapping, nodding forward. "We can't afford to do this very often--all of us together, like this."
no subject
"Thank you." Once she's gotten her hands on a glass, she takes a quick sip and smiles as the fizzy feeling reaching her nose. "That is nice.
Seems like the only times we do see each other now is during a crisis or holiday." Which is a lot like home, but the point is, this isn't home and never will be (for her at least). "How have you been settling, by the way?"
