WHO: Residents of 006 and guests
WHERE: 006
WHEN: 11/27/14
WHAT: Turkey day madness
WARNINGS: None at the moment. Possible mentions of death, cannibalism, poor humor, and dumb teenagers among other things.
[It was, once again, the prequel-to-Christmas time of year. Or, in the case of house 006, post-Halloween might be more appropriate for this Thanksgiving. Abigail had gotten April the glitter skulls they'd talked about weeks ago, and she'd seen no reason not to just go with the theme. So while the house may still smell of Turkey and other delicious things (thanks to Rick, the raccoons, and anyone else that brought food, but certainly not April), the living room and dining area looked like a Spirit Halloween store bargain bin had exploded over it. Fake spider-webs, ghouls stuck to the walls, cheap plastic 'goblets' for drinks on the table, she whole shebang. April herself was putting the finishing touches on some fake bug placements when the time for people to start arriving rolled around, and had left a 'the door works' sign on the front door as a way to let people know to not bother knocking.
There's video and board games in the living room, cooking in the kitchen, adult and non-beverages to be found, and maybe a few in the way decorations that need to be removed from the dining room table before eating can happen. Help yourselves.]
[[Note: Feel free to make starters for before, during, or after food, tag around, go nuts. Any guests housemates/invited people want to bring are fine!]]

open... with raccoons!
she wasn't going to come, since will wants her to leave him alone, but april hadn't rescinded her invitation and abigail really needed to get out of the house. it didn't hurt that she had nowhere else to go. and april promised it would just be raccoons and a dog and some grumpy old men.
lies.
luckily the raccoons are freakishly good at scrabble so they're more than enough to keep her attention and, after the first time, they don't try to take her scarf off with their tiny thief fingers and put it with her coat. ]

Don't let them lie about how something's totally a raccoon word. They're vicious.

They've lost every challenge. I'm not allowed to use possum anymore, though, they seem annoyed when I do. There can only be one nocturnal bandit.
[ she isn't bothered as she sips the wine, possum isn't an awful word to give up. she does seem a little uncomfortable. because will is april's boyfriend. and will doesn't want abigail...

looking over the board, he tilts his head some. he doesn't have any kind of memory of specifics of the world like board games. knows what they are, but can't remember ever playing a specific one or knowing any of the premise or rules. for a moment he observes, looking over the words and trying to figure out how it works. ]
So... they have to match letters where they intersect, and if you cover one of these, you get extra points? [ he holds out a finger, pointing at one of the triple points squares. cool. seems easy. ]
no subject
[ to demonstrate, she puts one tile down and makes a box at the intersection of two words. ] Hi. And mi. Like, do re mi.
[ which she isn't sure he will recognize, but she just played three rounds with cheating raccoons, she's given up on the standards of her games. ]

There is totally a dog.
He's been quiet since guests began to arrive, keeping to himself rather than throwing himself around with puppy-like exuberance. It's been a rough past month, okay? He will lift his head up from where he's sprawled out on the floor when Abigail and the raccoon start playing, though.
Curious, he'll haul himself up and trot on over, poking his head up over the arm of the couch and resting his chin on it to watch the game. ]

Hi boy.
[ blissfully unaware that this particular dog is way more sentient than april's raccoons and doesn't need to resort to interperative dance to get his point across.
unless, like, that's his hobby????
we just don't know. regardless, she does all this petting quietly and calmly and uses her other hand to play a word and mark down her score. the raccoons are winning right now. ]

He eventually sits down on the couch to sift through the games to try and find something of interest. He's never had the luxury of sitting around and playing one, that he can remember. He honestly has no idea which one would be the best for playing with other people, just that he wants something to do the pass the time while dinner cooks.]

there are a lot of people here though so abigail's silence is dwindling faster and faster until she just gives up, grabs one of the controllers and switches on mario kart. blame the wine. she leans over to ask one of the raccoons to grab her two more, which it fetches with little wheedling and clambers on to the couch between the teenagers and passes the spare controller to newt.
because the raccoon is playing, but newt can play too, that's the point. ]

open!
but thankfully, april isn't one of the ones who cares, so he'll have an adult drink as he sneaks through the kitchen, looking curiously over all of the food and starts to snatch a few pre-dinner samplers of things. look, you can't just put awesome food in front of a growing boy who lived in a turducken deprieved maze for all his remembered life. it's cruel.
from there, thomas will find one of the couches in front of the tv with the video games. he'd played some with stiles not too long ago and he sifts through what's there, finally finding something like mariokart and popping it in, curiously watching as it loads up. with his mouth still partially occupied with turkey, he calls out to those surrounding him. ]
Hey, I think I need a second player for this...
ota;
But when dinner is ready, later on, then they'll see Ace with a lot more energy. It doesn't cross his mind that he's entitled to a plate of food all on his own, so he's lurking among the chairs and under the table with the rest of the menagerie that lives at House 006.
Careful, you're bound to get stared at with big, sad puppy dog eyes if you go too long without passing something down to the floor. C'mon, who doesn't want to feed Ace? Huh? Huh? ]
no subject
Otherwise, for the most part he's been mindful about not bothering Ace too much, but once the turkey's stuffed and ready to roast for later, he wipes his hands off and looks for Ace, finding he's shifted around again. Crouching down in the ridiculous apron, he chuckles, ruffling his ears gently. ]
Guess that trip really did a number on you, didn't it?

NUMBER ONE THREAT TO AMERICA: BEEEEAAAAAARS
Re: ota;
[Said as she, with a heavy sigh, just drops a bunch of food stuff on the floor. No nicely prepared plate for Ace. Technically, it wasn't treats, okay? She's consistent with her earlier threat. He needs to explain, and gets no treats until he does.]

So Anavha had stayed close to Grey, the only person he did know. He drank wine, which tasted nothing like home but was close enough that he didn't mind it.
Eventually, though, he makes his way to the room with all the games. He sits on the couch, out of the way but near enough he can watch what they're doing.
Which he still doesn't get. ] What is the point of this? [ He finally speaks up, sounding curious. ]
no subject
What, the video games? [ He cocks his head, inquisitive, then shrugs. ] To have fun, I guess. Let you pretend to be something else for a while.

The Halloween decor is a lost cause, but in the spirit of the season, he's wearing a camel-brown sweater with fuschia reindeer patterned on, and an apron with a slightly lopsided turkey. Prior to eating, he can be found in the kitchen, nursing bandaged fingers from ill-advised encounters with kitchen appliances.
During the dinner proper, he's rarely actually sitting down, mostly making sure food makes its way from the kitchen to the dinner table without incident and carving up the turkey. He's also keeping a sharp eye on the alcohol supply. Any minors (and more clearly inebriated adults) trying to sneak a drink are likely to find themselves with a heavy hand clapped firmly on their shoulder and steered back to the living room.
He disappears halfway through the night, but before the last guests leave, he can be found standing on the porch still bundled up from coming home from Mary and John's Thanksgiving, idly puffing on a cigarette and staring pensively out at the empty street. ]

He didn't get this excuse this time. Hell, he couldn't even say he had work, could he? So he'd done the right thing and showed up and had even brought a decent bottle of wine and he'd made a show of playing along, avoiding being a nuisance to Ace, and say hi like he was supposed to. He'd already been out there, smoking, when Bradbury came out to get a shot of nicotine himself.
"Chaotic in there, isn't it?" smalltalk was never his forté.

He can see the bird roasting in the oven, but he can't put a name to it. It makes him hungry, though. He's wearing a short-sleeved shirt that's open down the front, revealing words tattooed all over his arms and chest. He finds the word 'What' on his left upper arm and points it out to Bradbury, before nodding at the oven. What smells so good? And can he have some? ]
