WHAT: a cop and a robot rescue kittens.
WARNINGS: beep boop beep.

[ danger is not amused. a task that should have been simple, by all means, has now cost her nearly half an hour-- not to mention she's making a fair spectacle of herself. even in a place so welcoming to imports as their new home, a tall blue robot climbing a tree in the park is probably still an unusual sight. but her target has managed to continuously elude her with agility and feline slyness, always managing to just slip out of grasp to the next branch.

it's irritating. but it isn't as if she can harm the creature in retrieving it-- that would defeat the purpose. and besides that, the small fragile old woman sitting on the bench below is expecting her pet in one piece. the situation forces her to just keep trying, repeatedly chasing the woman's cat and making empty grasps for it.

despite all her trajectory calculations and mechanical sensors, the animal continuously escapes her. ]

[ the sound of the detective-- rather, former detective's voice calls for danger's attention. she pauses her arboreal pursuit of the cat to glance below at where renee stands. there's a quiet pause, considering maybe, before danger jumps down from the tree, landing on the ground with an audible thud of metal. ]

For the moment, yes.

[ the machine tilted her head towards the tree, where her furry quarry remained out of her grasp. she would have preferred another task-- one that involved lasers, perhaps, or at the very least, numbers. ]

This particular problem is not one I have faced before.

[ danger watches renee as the woman departs, following her path with attentiveness as she walks to the grocery store and then returns. she appears to be holding a can of cat food-- ah. bait. a strategy danger herself should have thought of. perhaps now and then, human creativity wins over numbers and figures.

she accepts the can of cat food from renee, easily opening it with her bare (metal) hands. as soon as the smell is apparent, it catches the cat's attention, coaxing the little animal to a lower branch. danger pauses before reaching for the animal-- this time, catching it without much trouble. ]

[ danger pauses, eying renee another moment in consideration before she turns to the older woman, passing her the little feline. to the woman's credit, she doesn't seem too fazed to have her cat rescued by a tall blue robot. she even shakes danger's hand. only once that exchange is finished does danger return to speak with renee. ]

[ her long strides and the strength of her mechanical body make it easy to maneuver in front of the detective, blocking her path. ]

[ she doesn't relent, but her voice stays steady, not riled. ]

If you will not accept my aid now, then I will expect you to call on me to repay this favor at your discretion.

[ she seems to understand that it isn't an express refusal-- and she'll take that as a small victory. she seems confident enough that, given what she is and what skills that gives her, there will inevitably be a day that renee will find her useful.

she finally steps aside. ]
