It's over like a comic book
WHO: Yang, Open
WHERE: A deserted beach in Heropa
WHEN: Oct 28th
WHAT: Yang sometimes has anger management issues. This is one of those times.
WARNINGS: Shouldn't be any, but I'll change it if they develop.
[Between the crap being spewed by the media, the sudden loss of her partner, and her complete inability to do anything about any of it, Yang feels like wrecking something. But without the usual Grimm around, the best she can do is to go someplace secluded and take her anger out on nature.
So early morning on the twenty-eighth finds her pounding her fists against boulders on a hard-to-reach portion of beach, relatively sure she won't be disturbed by anyone normal.
As she keeps going, fire begins to build beneath her fists. Wait long enough, and you may see her whole body light up in flame, briefly glassing the sand beneath her. At that point she stops and drops on her butt away from the glass, staring at the flexing of her fingers.]
...looks like I'm goin' it alone again.

That didn't include running into a human torch (brief as it was) on what she figured was a largely deserted beach. There's been too much on fire in Annie's life recently, herself included, to do anything other than stop her dead in her tracks and stare, bending her knees and preparing to run. It's only that it registers this isn't a six foot tall man in a ridiculous mask, and isn't involving trains, collapsed structures, and notably smells nothing like burned hair or burning flesh that keeps Annie around.
And breathing, when her lungs complain about the lack of oxygen. An imPort. No other logical explanation, and one with... fire... abilities. Well... shit. Annie is slow to approach the young woman sitting on the sand, calling out for once - she doesn't want to surprise her, not even to get in close striking distance without warning. ]
Everything all right over there?
[ ... It's like asking Yang if she's okay. Sort of. ]
no subject
--huh? Oh.
[Turning in place in the sand, she tilts her head a bit, as if sizing the other blonde up, and then nods her head a couple of times, almost absently.]
Oh. Yeah- I'm fine. Just, you know, handlin' some anger the old-fashioned way.
no subject
By turning sand to glass and sparring with rocks?
[ It hadn't been sparring, but "beating up" rocks seemed even more ludicrous to say, so she went with sparring anyway. ]
... I suppose if it works...
[ She rolls her shoulders in a small shrug. Among imPorts especially, to each their own. ]
You're conscientious enough to burn off the extra energy where it won't give anyone else a fright.
[ Except for people out jogging in deserted beach areas, but that's not Yang's lack of foresight, it's timing. ]
no subject
The glass thing was kind of an accident.
[A flare of her rather impressive temper, before she pulled herself back under control.]
Mmm- sparring's hard, since most people can't take what I can dish out. Didn't figure anyone would be out this far or this early though... sorry if I scared you!
no subject
You startled me, that's all. Is that the only thing you have to worry about when sparring, or is there something else?
[ Kaneki and his super strength comes to mind, among several others. Reiner is a good sort of go-to for difficult cases, with his own skillset here. It's one question, followed by a second one, as she looks back to the glass yet again. Interesting form for a temper to take. ]
Feeling any better?
no subject
[The admittance is made, and followed with a slight grunt as she moves to her feet, bending momentarily to run her fingers along the edge of the glass.]
And yeah, for the most part. Sometimes you just gotta hit something, you know?
no subject
[ Eren had always made it easy - they were in hand to hand combat practice when he'd rub her the wrong way. The rest of the time, she wasn't a physically motivated person. Not to harm, at least. (Take down and sit on when proving a point? Sure.) ]
... In an approved way, that is. As for the other, you're not wrong. People really don't seem to be early morning risers around here.
[ ... people also don't generally run before school or commute to Heropa extra early to spar with someone else before running, but keeping busy serves a purpose. It also allows for unexpected encounters such as these. ]
Finding anyone half awake capable of dealing with extraordinary strength might be limited to Reiner Braun, or perhaps Ken Kaneki.
no subject
[But being the kind of person who operates (most of the time, at least) on the estimation that her fists can help her get through anything, Yang doesn't much see the merit. She can appreciate anyone who can do it though, and Annie receives a slight, respectful nod for the fact.]
...they friends of yours?
[And she does note the names for future reference, but... well. She's not going to call up some strangers out of nowhere, even if the other blonde thinks they might be good candidates.]
no subject
Mm, yes. Reiner and I have both been here since the end of April. Ken's the only one from his world at the moment.
[ One of those going it alone, as it were. ]
They can both handle hard hits, and Ken was looking for sparring partners who could handle super strength in turn. Not that I know if you can or can't... the one doesn't mean you also have a high resistance to damage. ... If you don't mind the invasive question, is your fire at all emotionally driven?
[ Annie asks as a means of piecing together a trend she had started noticing with Lunatic, one she hasn't been able to follow up on with other element users due to a lack of exposure or knowledge. She turns a curious look on Yang, but keeps expectation off her face. Being invasive meant being aware that you were rightly able to be shut down, and she's conscious of watching for people's boundaries. Makes more sense in the long run. ]
no subject
It's good to have somebody around... must suck to be Ken though.
[It's something she can commiserate with though, at least now. Though then again, she's assuming he wants someone from his world here. For all she knows, he doesn't- but she likes to think that no one would like to be alone in a strange place.]
Yeah... yeah I can take it. Maybe I'll look him up then, if we can both benefit from it.
[Though she'd hate to hurt anyone, a good brawl and the bruises and aches that sprang from it were a good way to keep her mind occupied. Annie's last question gives her pause, and she purses her lips, thoughtful.]
I guess kinda? Like it's easiest to bring up here if I'm really mad, you know? That might just be really strong emotions in general though.
no subject
She's interested in these powers that do seem linked to emotion in some way or another. Annie has to wonder if more people have a similar connection than they realize - it may not always be straightforward.
Regardless, her curiosity and interest is genuine. She leans forward, bracing her hands on her thighs. ]
I wonder how you could even test that.
[ "Strong emotions" run a full course of them, though examining Yang as she tilts her head to the side, Annie believes there's a good chance Yang is among those more in tune with how she feels. Finding extremes to feel through might be less difficult, if she's in the habit of embracing what she feels in a given moment. ]
no subject
The truth was, he had been missing the place he now called home quite a bit recently and it was new to feel homesick.
A flash of light snapped him out of his thoughts as he turned to see...was that a fire?
Souji quickly jogged over to find someone sitting near what appeared to be glass.]
Are you okay?
no subject
When in doubt, fake it til you make it.]
Yeah! Yeah... just workin' some stuff out, you know? Sorry if I scared you or anything... didn't think anyone'd be around this early.
no subject
It's early to "work things out."
[He glanced behind him as the sun begins to erupt over the horizon, reflecting on the smooth water. He turned back to the woman and shoved his hands in his pockets.]
What was that flash of light I saw coming from this way, earlier?
no subject
[Well, more like 'sometimes', but... a little white lie won't hurt.]
Besides, less chance of there being people around this early.
[The mention of the light makes her laugh, and she raises her hand.]
Guilty as charged. Sorry, it's a superpower thing- though admittedly, less light, more fire.
no subject
What's your superpower?
[He wasn't really sure about the whole etiquette of asking people around here about their powers, but he figured he might as well try.]
no subject
It's uh... about the same as my semblance back home. Lots of strength, lots of durability, and a little bit of fire.
[And since it seems only fair-]
What about you?
no subject
She's been thinking about skipping school (again). Maybe she could run away, but then, they'd hunt her down and probably jail her, or worse.
Nanami is brooding further down the beach while Yang takes her frustrations out on rocks. But she's close enough to see the cloud of flame, and it's with anxious speed that she (stupidly) runs towards it instead of away. When she finds nothing but a girl and glass, she skids up short.]
...Um. Wasn't there - ? [Her forehead creases.] Are you doing something that's going to cause more trouble?
no subject
...why would that be your first assumption?
[Standing, she dusts herself off and then crosses her arms expectantly, expression sour.]
If I were going to cause trouble, wouldn't I need to be someplace with people to cause trouble for?
no subject
[Mental commentary on Yang's muscles really shouldn't be the first thing that comes to mind (girls aren't supposed to notice those things about other girls), but as soon as she stands Nanami realizes just how tough she looks and balks a little.]
Did - did you ever think of that? There was a fire!
