Troll Meets Mermaid
WHO: Karkat & Aileen Kimbler
WHERE: walkin' 'round the streets
WHEN: 2/25 day
WHAT: tiny empath troll-chan meets mermaid with no empath-pings! Whoa!!
WARNINGS: nada; save for potty-mouth Vantas
[ So, Aileen's first week has been quite eventful, between the drama that is her ex-boyfriend, and the series of questionable decisions that followed immediately afterwards. By now it feels like a decent plateau has leveled out in front of her, a little bit of breathing room to enjoy before the new thing popped up -- as it would, but where was the sense in snubbing a little fresh air over worrying?
Honestly, the day looked nice enough, and she was sure the sea would look even more so for someone like her. Her's is a casual pace, maybe twenty minutes into the city, taking in the crowds coming and going. There were all sorts of people here, as she understood it, but the implication she got was that other non-humans would be among the one's taken here.
What a coincidence then, that she spies grey skin at the opposing intersection. Its too far to tell just yet, but... she squints, tilting her chin just a notch to see over the shoulder blocking her view.
Grey, and.... something orange in his hair? ]

Still, it's enough to turn him in her direction, when the intersection signals it's safe to cross, stepping off the curb to cross the road to get a better look at her. In getting closer, the differences between Karkat and the rest of the humans become more apparent -- the yellow sclera, the orange things in his hair proving themselves to be horns, the pointed tips of his ears, the overbite made up entirely of very sharp, carnivorous-looking teeth. All very distinctly inhuman. ]

So, when some of the more hurried passer-bys thin out of way, she pauses, smiling and bending a bit to better meet his eye level. ] Good afternoon. I think its safe to say you and I haven't met.

Yeah, I -- thought you might have been someone else. [ He says, a little slowly. There's a gentle, nagging feeling of something missing, but he can't quite place it, in this crowd. Too many people, too many impulses, and he's still not used to the amplification of his powers he'd been granted with the universe cross. He gives off the air of someone very distracted. ] I'm guessing you're an imPort?

It might be a bit easier for us here. [ She nods to the side closer to a building, giving busy walkers a clear space out of their way. She steps over herself, waiting for Karkat with obvious curiosity. ] If you aren't in a rush? I'm Aileen Kimbler, by the way.
im here and only a little bit fossilized
He looks her up and down, frowning. ]
Karkat Vantas. [ Closer, what's missing is a little more apparent, and he eyes her more closely. It could still be getting lost in the white noise of the crowd, but he could swear there isn't any emotional input from her. ] Do you just waltz on up to perfect strangers on the street often, or am I a special case?
