date night done right
WHO: M
heliophilic and Apollo
solarcharged
WHERE: De Chima
WHEN: A handwavey Friday night in August
WHAT: Romance! Bad science! Punching things!
WARNINGS: n/a
Ever since finding out about 'M's Gems' and all the hashtags surrounding it, Apollo has made a habit of gently bullying M into taking him to every single one. The fact that neither of them really need to eat is beside the point: it's the experience of it that counts. Civilian clothing, rubbing elbows with the locals, pretending to be perfectly normal people on a perfectly normal date. Apollo loves it.
This particular M's Gem is a street cart in a trendy section of De Chima's arty food district. It's clearly where all the off-duty tech hipsters come to share a beer and argue over the best street food in the city on a Friday night; benches are set up, the food vendors are doing a roaring business, and synthy lowkey beats fill the air.
Apollo, bearing tacos and a beer, picks a spot on a relatively empty picnic bench and settles down with a grin. Further down the picnic bench two girls are staring at the off-duty superheroes, but Apollo just offers them a nod and a smile in hopes they won't start taking pictures.
"What did you go for?" Apollo asks M as he inspects the contents of his own trio of tacos. "I think these are vegetarian. I wasn't really paying attention."

"Not that I'm complaining. It'll be nice to have somewhere to put Kavinsky's strawberry plants. I think I caught D taking a bite out of a leaf the other day."

"I never would have guessed you had a tolerance for the unnatural."
Because they both certainly weren't unnatural. Nosir.
"They're not used to seeing healthy things in the apartment."
