cross your fingers hold your toes
WHO: Present Mic & unfortunate neighbor Khisanth, also Aizawa
WHERE: Mic's place
WHEN: today!
WHAT: hello pls feed
WARNINGS: n/a
[ It's late in the evening (how late? she's not sure; past midnight, probably), Khisanth is a little bit drunk, and she's decided she's hungry. She's lost track of her money, or maybe she spent it already? Either way, she's decided she won't be going out for food -- at least, not far. Next door is about far enough.
Hizashi was his name, wasn't it? He'd cooked well for her last time -- and willingly, which is the important part. Khisanth, currently (frequently, in fact) Onyx, knocks at his door loudly, then steps back to wait. Maybe he's sleeping. That would be fine, she supposes, seeing as she can simply let herself in. But she'll at least give him the benefit of the doubt and wait for an answer first. ]

He is, however, a little cautious, especially considering the recent dinner and their guest. He peeks out of the little peephole, brows raising as soon as he sees who it is on the other side. He wastes no time in unlocking the door and opening it up.]
Onyx! Hey, everything okay yo? What do I get to thank for the visit? [He steps aside to let Khisanth in, lifting one finger up to his lips to indicate they should keep their voices low.]

I was in the area. [ That's usually what people say, right? But it doesn't quite get across the full scope of what she's after. Glancing over sidelong, she adds: ] And hungry.
[ hint. ]
no subject
Hungry huh? Didn't know I was running a restaurant. But I guess I can help you out since you're providing company! Tonight was feeling a little dull, you dig?
[It's just a matter of figuring out what to cook. Something that wouldn't take a lot of effort, be quick, and apparently -- be appetizing to someone just a little tipsy, if he's observing right.]
Just make yourself at home. [As though she wasn't already, to be honest. It just makes Hizashi chuckle more, but this time he's aware enough to keep it quiet, his humor mostly a shake of his shoulders as he starts to rummage through the kitchen for something to throw together.]
no subject
That's right. Amusement for food. [ She can be amusing, right? She considers it for a moment, looking thoughtful as the smile fades out again. ] I could ... tell you a story.
no subject
What kind of adventures have you been up to lately? Haven't seen you in a while! [He pours a tall glass of water for her, for now, setting it in front of where she's sitting before he returns to the stove and what he's doing to cook.]
no subject
[ She's been partying, actually. All of her adventures have been either drunken revelry, or exploring this wide and strange new world. The latter almost certainly wouldn't sound like an adventure to anyone used to this kind of place. Still, though, now that she's thinking about it ... a little dreamily: ]
There's a canyon in the west so deep that it takes almost half a minute to reach the bottom, free falling.
no subject
[Up to mischief. He knows how to read that. He's not going to say anything though. Onyx is a grown woman, if she wants to get into trouble on her own time, that's up to her! But the story he gets from her next isn't one that he'd expected. Turning from the food he's cooking, he arches a brow at her.]
Oh yeah? Are you talking about uhhh the Grand Canyon, I think it's called? [he's pretty sure that's the name of the bigger landmark out to the west.] If you traveled all the way out there no wonder I haven't seen you hanging about around here, yo!
no subject
It was beautiful. [ She hasn't quite lost the admiring air, like she's picturing it in her head. ] There's a river at the very bottom. It's paltry and shallow, but refreshing. It must have carved through all that stone.
[ Recovering herself with a blink: ] But -- that's hardly a story. I haven't created any yet, in this world.
no subject
[He imagines there's a lot she could tell him about, though he's next to clueless as far as subject matter. The way THIS world works, America or Earth in general definitely seems to be foreign to her.]
no subject
Have you ever heard of a nymphid?
[ This one is a little personal and maybe not the best idea, but she’s drunk. ]
no subject
Mmm, some kind of faerie or something right? [He laughs, paying attention to the food again for a moment as he shifts gears and starts cracking a few eggs. Honestly, cooking for someone is a good distraction from the endless ridiculous social media scrolling he was participating in.
Maybe Khisanth did him a favor] Why?
no subject
Something like that. Little things with gossamer wings. They’re rare, where I’m from. They know natural magic and all sorts of secrets —- but there’s only three of them left. Two males and a female. And she was especially gifted, but it didn’t stop her from getting captured and carried off by a human.
[ She frowns faintly. That always bothered her, to know powers couldn’t stop a simple human. ]
The other two didn’t know where she’d gone, or how to get her back, and the older one — her father —- is so old.
no subject
Captured huh? Hmm... Anyone who'd do that isn't exactly a good kind of person, are they? [It doesn't even matter what species anyone is in this situation he thinks, kidnapping is inherently wrong. But, he knows this isn't the WHOLE story.]
So what happened, yo? Did they manage to find out where she got carried of to?
no subject
[ Here she smiles faintly. ]
So they found someone stronger to help them. They offered to teach her some of that magic and wisdom, in exchange she would get back the little missing nymhpid. It was an elegant solution.
and now for something completely different
Good behavior might be nearing an end, though. When she's about half through her omurice she (somewhat drunkenly) decides it's an excellent time for a bit of magic practice, which is what leads to the strange woman sitting in someone else's apartment playing with little lights that dance from finger to finger. It's an easy spell, but she'll grudgingly admit there's no harm in reinforcing the foundations now and then. ]
hypppppe
His vision is blurry, and he's not exactly looking to begin with, which might possibly explain the grumpy, haggard, and yet still somehow authoritative voice that emerges from the dark-haired shuffling body coming in from the hall.]
Todoroki, quit playing with your quirk inside. That couch is flammable, and if you burn this house down you're going to be in trouble until you're forty.
no subject
It's not fire.
[ There are a lot of questions to ask here, but let's start with that one. ]
no subject
Who are you, and why are you in my house?
no subject
Onyx. I'm here for dinner.
[ That's what you call it at 2AM still, right? A little accusingly: ] Who are you?
no subject
[He doesn't seem to be at all intimidated by her accusing tone, or the way she's looking at him, instead continuing on his mission to get a glass of water.]
Where's your host?
[He's rude, this one. Sorry about that.]
no subject
I don't know. [ Wait ... yes she does. A correction, after a bit of inebriated thought: ] No, out to get drinks.
no subject
He's just gonna lean back against the counter, eyeing her flatly over his glass. Dinner in the middle of the night, drinks at 2am, leaving basically a stranger in the house--]
...I'm really gonna have to have a talk with Hizashi.
[Look, he's known the man for half his life, he can tell when something has his name written all over it.]
no subject
[ It's asked with all the idle and unassuming curiosity of someone who has no idea that's code for stern disapproval. What's the talk gonna be about, huh?? ]
no subject
[Aha, so he was right. Hizashi....ugh. Honestly his expression should say it all when it comes to his meaning. Then again, maybe it's hard to tell. Even as a stranger, he gives the impression that his face is just kinda....stuck that way.]
no subject
Did you think I would slip in and kill you?
no subject
More like I'm surprised that he'd leave anyone he wanted to stay friends with with me unsupervised. I tend to leave an impression.
! that is such a nice looking icon
Of what? You seem ... [ human?? she's bad at reading abnormalities. ] Fine.
right? I wish I could find the artist ;;
[If he didn't know any better, he'd think she was disappointed when he assumed otherwise. And maybe he doesn't know any better, or maybe he's just got a good sense for others who like to make sure everyone around them is just a little off-balance.]
I'm rude, unkempt, and don't care if I piss people off. As long as you don't mind that, 'fine' is a good enough word.
no subject
You don't seem that rude. [ Thoughtful, as she reviews their interaction so far. ] Just blunt. There are worse ways to conduct yourself.
