Do you wanna talk about gone lawyers? [closed]

WHO: Kay Faraday and Diego Armando a.k.a. the crow girl and the coffee freak a.k.a. prosecution peeps
WHERE: The courthouse.
WHEN: Sept. 10.
WHAT: With Phoenix, Edgeworth. Trucy, Apollo and Franziska gone and Sept. 10 being The Day Her Dad Was Murdered in a Courthouse, Kay isn't in the best of moods and it's hard to maintain a smiling face. Godot could help with that, maybe.
WARNINGS: None yet, just standard boo hoo emo times.

[Kay went about her business as usual at the courthouse. Once again her services as Teen Court juror-in-training were needed, and finding out that Phoenix, Edgeworth, Trucy, Apollo and Franziska could no longer be contacted and were nowhere to be found was not enough to stop her. She was determined to keep doing her job as they would have wanted her to. She was determined to keep smiling and not let anyone see that she was sad. They were safer at home, with no summer games or evil ghosts or monsters to plague them. Still...it was rather comforting to know that she could run to these people whenever she needed to...

Not only that, the realization that it was September 10 and she was inside a courthouse dredged up an old memory. This was the anniversary of the second KG-8 incident, the day her father was murdered. It shouldn't bother her, that case had already been closed and the killer was now behind bars, but with her mood not at its usual perky and optimistic high, it was like another unhappy memory on top of waking up and finding out that people she could trust in Heropa and thereabouts were gone.

To her credit, she still tries. She really, really does. But her subdued demeanor is not one to be missed as she walks through the hallowed halls of the courthouse, mechanically greeting people with a smile that is less than her usual, a voice that is not as upbeat, the spring in her step gone.]

[He's only recently returned to work. After being hospitalized and moving houses, it took a while for him to get around to calling an end to his hiatus from work. Really, it's kind of a miracle they let him go for as long as they did, but the government is apparently just that desperate to keep registered individuals registered.

He was attending a hearing for a trial tomorrow, stepping out of the courtroom as it concluded with his coffee in one hand and briefcase in the other. He hasn't come to any more great conclusions about what he should be doing here, but now that Wright and Edgeworth are both gone... the need for lawyers is more important than ever.

He isn't sure what he should do or who he should be yet, but he knows he has to keep moving forward, for now.

Spotting Kay as he walks, he notices her downbeat attitude almost immediately. It's kind of hard to miss such a thing on this particular girl.

Afternoon, kid. [Of course it's not enough to make him refer to her by first name, but psssh...]

Long, boring meetings chock full of jargon and a prosecutor who can't stop hyperbolizing... I can't complain.

[He has coffee in his hand, anyway. Hearings are hearings.

He's far more interested in her obvious distress.

How about you?

So they have.

[A very ambivalent-sounding statement. He sips his coffee for a moment, then glances sidelong at her. Or at least, it looks like he does. It's ever impossible to tell where he's looking.]

Care for a cup of coffee?
