ooc: post is in prose, but will match the style of whomever responds.

The Big City
Wei Wuxian is still getting used to a lot of what this world has to offer, but one thing is for sure..it offers A LOT. He's currently window shopping, still very much dressed in what he arrived in the world wearing. And it is hardly the style of this place. Not that he has seen a particular style overall..especially with super heroes running around in clothing that leaves very little to the imagination..but still, a few extra outfits can't hurt.

Plus he has money in a sort of rare moment of almost wealth. So might as well get some necessities and..those necessities include the bars! He has to be able to find out what this world's best drink is after all. And one can't do that without stopping and sampling the goods. So he can be found in any number of the cities more rambunctious drinking establishments, enjoying a couple of the town's best.

Maurtia Falls #007
He has already been told not to put metal in the box known as a microwave. So instead he is walking around the kitchen, trying very hard to figure out exactly how everything works. He is particularly impressed by the box that seems to keep things cold. An item he will have to make sure to stock fully when given a chance. He knows how to use a stove so the hard part there is trying to figure out how to light it..because the surface is very flat and fire doesn't seem to want to stay lit on top of it.

He has figured out the microwave and even tested it with a piece of bread. Which did heat up but didn't seem to cook. Overall his kitchen adventures are not giving him much to go by, but if nothing else..Wei Wuxian is determined and will figure it out.

"Young master Wei." Xichen's voice is quiet as he approaches the man. Late at night, as a matter of fact, and definitely not in a place in Maurtia Falls where one would expect a Lan. But the staff don't give him a second glance, either.

He is working for their boss, after all, though not usually here.

Xichen hesitates, but in the end does ask.

"Did you... come to this world on your own?"

He looks over at the sound of a familiar voice and smiles, bringing his hands together in front of him to box in respect. "Zewu-Jun..I was told you were here as well."

He stands up straight again at the question and it takes him a moment but he thinks he understands. "Ah..yes. It seems that way."

Even though he was with Lan Wangji just before coming here, it seems their paths were meant to diverge for awhile.

"Ah. He... he was here, before. But he ... returned home a while ago. It - he may return. If we are patient." He tilts his head.

"Which city are you assigned to? There is - we bought a house in Jeopardy. There is a room for you there, if you would wish a more familiar surroundings. Young madam Jiang is there, as well as Lan Jingyi."

That is who was left.

And yes, he will let that... sink in.

He encountered Jin Zixuan so he learned that he has been here once as well as Lan Wangji. He hopes that the elder Lan is right though and that someday he might return. He won't comment on that though, afraid it might reveal the hopeful feeling a little too easily.

"I was placed in Maurtia Falls." He is definitely surprised to hear that his shijie lives with the Lans. "Shijie..she.." He sucks in a breath and tries to calm his excited heart. He knows how this place can make such impossible things, possible. And this is easily the most precious of gifts.

It takes him a minute because just acknowledging she is here fills him with happiness and he is trying hard not to look like a child given a great gift. But he can't help his smile as he looks at the man, "Thank you for watching over her."

Does he want to move in with them? The answer is a resounding yes, but he isn't sure he has earned the right to be around her all the time. It's his fault her life was taken.

"You ought to be cautious, in Maurtia Falls. Not everyone's intention is kind. Not the the ImPorts, that is. The local population.

"And, of course. It is... I am glad for the added opportunity there is, to spend close to each other. We can arrange a meeting after you have woken up," which differs from 'in he morning,' he knows, "and I can take you there, if you do not find her first."

The sooner, Xichen knows, the better it will be for them both.

"Really? What is wrong with Maurtia Falls?" His roommates seem nice enough and he didn't realize that some places were more dangerous then others. It's interesting to think that places might be bad areas to live in considering everyone is heroes.

He flashes a bright smile, "I appreciate the offer." And he certainly would like to take him up on it.

"So what brought you here?" He waves his hand to indicate their current location. "Was I that easy to track down?"

"Not... wrong, exactly. But dangerous all the same." Calm and gentle. He is not going to speak against his employer in one of his establishments, but. He has been here more than long enough to see what kind of organisation it is.

And the others around it.

Xichen hums, then shakes his head. "I did not seek you out, young master Wei. I was finishing an errand here, a favor for a coworker. It was a chance encounter, but I am glad for it."

"Ah! I'm glad too then. I'm not keeping you from finishing your errand am I?" He will have to look into what makes his current home so dangerous. His interest has been piqued and Wei Wuxian isn't one to hide away from dangerous things. Not that he is going to advertise that to Lan Xichen.

It's interesting to hear the other talk about work and coworkers. He can barely imagine the other man being anything but a sect leader or doing menial labor or tasks. It's a strange world he has found himself in..

Atsushi was exhausted from another day at his job, which was equal parts fun and stressful. It was a nice idea to have him work with animals, sure, but being aligned with a predator didn't actually help in this situation. At least he was getting along with the cats.

Before returning home, Atsushi had decided to stop in at a grocery store and pick up ingredients for supper. A cheap meal would be a relaxing way to end the night, and maybe he would even be able to share it with his housemates. The thought of them had reminded him that they still had an empty room and he was curious to know what kind of occupant to expect there, and when.

... A question answered when he came into the house and saw someone in the kitchen... microwaving... bread...? There was a lot to unpack here.

"Excuse me?" Atsushi looked between the microwave and toaster, before making a vague motion towards the appropriate appliance, "If you want to toast bread, you should use the toaster... Right?"

So this was the new housemate, huh?

He turns around at the voice and smiles. He knew he had roommates, had even snooped in their rooms a little since he found himself alone at the time. He hasn't shared a house with someone in a long time and so he was curious about them.

And now he gets to meet one! And apparently they are better with this new technology stuff then he is which is very good to know. He looks at the piece of bread in his hand and then towards the other appliance that he hasn't tried yet.

"Ah..so that is for bread?" He walks over to it and looks at the two slots in the top of it. He drops the bread into one of the slots. It does appear to fit! But it doesn't seem to do anything...he starts to push buttons until he manages to find the thing that makes the bread slide down. Suddenly he sees the red on the inside to indicate that it is now working.

"So this is a toaster.." He doesn't even really want to eat the bread. It was just the one thing he could find to try out the appliances.

It has quickly become apparent that his new roommate is not just new to this world (like all of them,) but maybe even knew to this era. Atsushi sets his groceries against the wall before coming over to join Wei Wuxian. Keeping his distance to be polite, but also reaching towards the toaster. Hopefully he'll be given the space to touch it and show it off.

"You use this knob here to set how toasted you want the bread. Closer to one and it just comes out warm, but if you go all of the way over here it'll come out almost charcoal." He explains. Trying to be helpful, but worried about being condescending.

Atsushi lowers his hand again and smiles. "Did you just arrive? I don't think we've met yet. My name is Atsushi Nakajima."

He listens to the instructions intently and nods his understanding. Then as the introduction is made he turns to him and puts his hands together in front of him and gives a little bow.

"It's nice to meet you Atsushi Nakajima! My name is Wei Wuxian." he lets his hands fall back down to his sides, "I did just arrive. I'm sorry if my appearance is a little sudden. I was told this is my new home while I am here."

He has family in a house in another city which makes it a little harder to accept. But he isn't even really sure that family will want him so this is easier for now.

"I appreciate the assistance with the toaster."

Atsushi bows back. The familiar tradition is comforting, even if their bows differ slightly; Atsushi's being at the waist and with his hands by his sides.

"Wei Wuxian-san...?" How does he address this person politely? Atsushi lifts his own hands, giving them a short and dismissive wave, "Not at all. This is your home now, so you don't need to apologize for being here. Welcome home! I think...?"

He smiles weakly, adding in a careful tone, "I was really overwhelmed when I first arrived... If there's anything that you need to settle in, then please. Let me know."

"Luckily I encountered someone from my world when I first arrived and he helped explain a few things. But I haven't ever used anything like..well any of these things. So I was trying to get my bearings." And just at that instant the toast pops out of the toaster next to him. He pulls it out and immediately drops it onto the counter when he realizes how hot it is.

"Wow..it really did cook it." As someone is is more used to open flames, something cooking inside a box of any kind is very new to him.

"Oh, that's lucky." Atsushi is a touch jealous, but not enough to act on it. It doesn't even show on his face. While it would be nice to have the Agency here with him, he understands that someone needs to be staffing the office back home!

He watches Wei Wuxian handle the toast, distracted from his own feelings.

"Mm! You can put some other things in there, like waffles and this toaster pastries. I don't know if we have any, though." Even though Wei Wuxian admitted to the kitchen appliances being a new experience, Atsushi doesn't want to be rude. So he steps back and gestures vaguely at the kitchen.

"Is there anything else you want to know about? Have you had a chance to eat yet?"

"Eat? Ahh..I guess I could eat the bread." Not the most exciting of meals but it's the most progress he's made in..well at least an hour. He looks around at the other appliances.

"I know this one is supposed to eat things up..and you aren't supposed to put metal in it." He points at the microwave and then the stove, "And we had these at home but I can't figure out where you put the fire." He runs his hand over the smooth surface. Certainly the fire would just go out if added to it.

He walks over the the refrigerator and opens the door, "This thing keeps stuff cold which makes this the most useful item in this room." He is really very impressed by the cold box. They will be able to keep food forever with that. And then he walks over to the coffee maker and holds it up.

"I haven't quite figured this one out yet."

His curiosity is nice to see and puts Atsushi more at ease in his company. Figuring it is only polite to answer what questions he can, he does motion around the kitchen.

"The stove is electric. You can turn that knob to turn it on instead of adding fire. And yes, the microwave doesn't react well to metal. And the fridge is really amazing. You'll be able to store groceries in there."

Atsushi eyes the coffee maker, chuckling lightly. "That one is more specific... Actually. I can show you how to use it and make us a drink. Do you like coffee?"

"Coffee? Ahh..I'm used to tea and wine for drinks." He prefers wine. Lots of it. But traditionally tea is the drink that gets served whenever that isn't an option. Mostly at the Lan sect and their alcohol intolerant ways.

He sets the coffee machine back down and and stares at it. "How can you possibly get a drink out of that?"

Getting a feel for when Wei Wuxian is from, Atsushi at least tries to modify his explanation. He decides to open the coffee maker and show his new roommate how to use it as he explains; Filling it with water, getting coffee grindings, cleaning and setting the pot...

"Coffee is a little bit like tea? You put it in here and this machine will heat the water and steep the coffee. See?" He flicks a switch to turn it on, "I promise, it'll make sense in a second!"

Now it's just a waiting game. Atsushi puts his hands behind his back, feeling some guilty for how pushy he was when forcefully making that coffee. Before he can get uncomfortable, he tries to shift the conversation, "How are you settling in so far? Does your room need anything?"

"Hm?" So distracted by the process of the machine in front of him he almost doesn't hear the question. He snaps back out of his daze and considers it.

"Ah my room is fine. A lot different then the rooms at the inns I'm used to staying at. The bed is significantly taller."

His room is basically bare besides the typical furniture but there really isn't anything extra that he thinks he might need. He probably will need to find basic necessities at some point which will require going to a store..which should be quite the experience. But for once he has money of his own so he is looking forward to it.
