A - At a coffee shop (any city)
[ Ever since he arrived, Kaneki has been dreaming about a proper coffee machine, but said machine is very expensive. Because he is studying and working at the same time, he doesn’t have enough money to buy a big fancy coffee maker (even if he saves a lot of money by not having to buy any sort of food apart from coffee).

But by pure chance, when Ken was at a coffee shop once, he was approached by a representative of a coffee brand, and he was offered the deal to be sort of like a sponsor or spokesperson for the brand – and in return, he’d receive a brand new machine. It was an opportunity hard to pass, and so Kaneki ended up saying yes.

And that’s why you will find him at a coffee shop taking photos with coffee and while drinking coffee, or talking (somewhat awkwardly) about how “Heroast” (that is… a terrible name, but they really wanted a word play on “Hero” and “Roast”) is the best brand of coffee. There are people asking for pictures with Kaneki since it’s not every day they have the chance to meet an imPort face to face. Basically, this is a photo-op!

You are welcome to join in and take pictures with “Coffeero”, the Coffee Hero aka Kaneki, or just wait until kaneki gets a break and goes sit at a table with a sigh. He knows why he accepted doing this, but it’s totally not his thing. It’s very tiring, awkward, and Kaneki has no idea what to tell people who approach him. He can, however, talk about coffee a lot, but after a hour, it just gets tiring.

Make fun of him, help him out, or take pictures with Kaneki – it doesn’t matter. Come and join his misery. ]


B - Training (forest area)
[ Kaneki feels weak, no matter how well he deals with situations. He feels like he is hopeless and helpless, that he is too naive and unable to do anything. Back home, he decided he'd get stronger by training, and hopefully that would make him able to protect others instead of always being protected.

In this world, he fell into that role once again, and once again he feels that he is too weak and he has to change that. He can't afford being weak when in this world gods and apocalypses are a thing that happen (or happened? Or might happen. Who knows at this point), and so he has decided to train more and harder. He trains with Takizawa often, but also on his own - he runs for about a hour daily, stretches and does simple things like squats and push-ups - and from time to time, he heads to a secluded forest to train even harder.

That's where you might find him (or hear him, if you aren't close enough to see who is making all this noise). Kaneki is punching and kicking trees with quick movements - almost too quick to be human. In fact, most of his movements are very inhuman, as Kaneki jumps to land kicks on the trees surrounding him, sometimes hard enough to actually break them.

When he does break a tree, Kaneki suddenly stops, gasping and speaks to himself: ] I have to be careful...


C - Some villain (any city)
[ His favorite hobby? Reading. Kaneki is an avid book reader and if he didn't share a house (in all honesty, he'd rather not share, but... well, he can't just rent a house on his own, right now), his house would be covered in books from head to toe. Because he can't do that, he usually goes to the library and takes home some books. In all honesty, it's still A LOT of books, enough that his hands are completely full. He walks through the city, hoping to reach his apartment, but halfway through there was... an attack!

It seems that some villain is attacking, using robotic arms to cause destruction on the street. Apparently their super-villain name is Octupusnado and they can create small tornadoes with a machine located on each of his robot arms; the guy has no actual powers, just science on his side! And he is using it to literally create havoc and nothing else.

Kaneki, who was just minding his business, is hit by one of those tornadoes and now his books are flying; the tornadoes are not strong enough to lift kaneki off the ground, but they are strong enough to throw him off balance and cause him to be pushed saway. Kaneki looks very confused, naturally, and the natives - also naturally - rush towards him to ask for help ]

I'm not- [ a hero. He is not a hero. But he looks back at the villain and something inside him tells him he should just help. People are asking for it and Ken has the ability to help, right? He will turn his attention to any other imPort who happens to be nearby ] Ah- we should do something. [ yes, it's a team-up. It sounds like it's the best option here ]

B / Mid-July

[hot_handed]

[Katsuki has been...busy lately, with what school, his part-time job, plotting an ambush or escape and then the hundred hours of community service he has to do. But when he has some free time, he decides to check out the training area Kaneki showed him. It would be pragmatic to learn a little about the surroundings before going against him. Sure, he might mock Kaneki for being 'kind of strong', but after all the shit that happened with Deku, he doesn't trust appearances or first impressions of anyone.

So he's running, in a simple black tank top and joggers, vaulting over logs and climbing branches, leaping from one tree to the next when he hears it and looks down.

Oh.

Shit.

Cursing, Katsuki jumps down from the branch and lands in a squat, as the tree he was currently in makes its descent to the earth.]

That tree piss you off, Kind of Strong-senpai?

[anthropophagite]

[ Kaneki doesn't realize Katsuki was caught in all of this at first, ready to just go back to training. But then he hears a familiar voice, and is quick to turn around to meet the other boy ]

Ah, Bakugou-kun...! Are you alright? [ he didn't mean to get someone involved in this too ] I'm sorry, I didn't know you were there.

[hot_handed]

Shut the hell up. I'm fine! [He scowls, insulted Kaneki would even be worried, but then he lowers himself to the ground, hands splayed out.]

Let's fucking go!!!

[anthropophagite]

[ wait what]

Go? You mean fight?! [ WHY? ]

[hot_handed]

Ya said that we'd get to train, didn't ya?

[He grins.]

Stop wastin' time and start training!!!

[anthropophagite]

[ well he did. But..........

Aha. Kaneki sighs softly before he nods, moving a hand to his own shoulder as he moves it to warm up a bit more (though he doesn't really need it)]

Bakugou-kun, do you have super strength as well?

[hot_handed]

[Katsuki stares at Kaneki and turns around, seemingly ignoring what he said-

BOOM!!!

And blows a line of trees in half, watching them crumble to the ground.]

[archie sighs heavily, tossing out crobat's ball. the giant purple bat materialises with a shriek, flapping its four wings at octopusnado threateningly.]

Me'n Crobat can take care of this, bro. You go back to readin'. [archie saunters forward towards the guy, rubbing his head and muttering angrily.] Goddamn fuckin' shitheads can't give anyone a stupid break...

[anthropophagite]

Er... [ okay, so he was absolutely brushed aside and basically told not to interfere. Well, Kaneki is not a superhero, so it's not like he should be involved in this, right? People who are actual Superheros and who know what they are doing should probably be the ones dealing with some guy creating tornadoes

well, he will just smile a little and nods with a small "sorry", and after he moves to grab the books all over the floor ]

[sorry, kaneki. somehow he never saw how strong you actually are in a fight. or forgot. honestly, more likely he forgot with how much he drinks these days.

crobat darts forward, ducking and weaving around the tornadoes and full on bodily tackles the guy. archie seems content to let his pokémon do what it wants, though he does call out:] Don't kill him!

[glancing over to kaneki:] Ya need help?

[anthropophagite]

[ Kaneki already has a pile of books forming when he hears Archie and looks up. He offers the man a small (kind of awkward) smile and shakes his head ] It's alright, thank you.

Keeping an eye on your pet is probably more important...? [ he doesn't know if these creatures are"pets", but he also doesn't know how to call them, so pet it is ]

Partner, [he corrects, though not irritably. he'll only start to get pissed if people continually get it wrong after being told otherwise.] and nah, he knows what he's doing.

[on cue, the guy goes screaming past them both in the background, with crobat darting after him.]

How're you settlin' in, then? [seems archie is happy to have a casual conversation.] After that magic bullshit, eh? Not a bad first... well, bullshit.

[anthropophagite]

Oh, sorry. [ he looks back at the screaming guy being chased by the bat. DOES HE REALLY KNOW WHAT HE IS DOING..........

well, kaneki is not going to judge

He smiles a little at the question ] I'm fine. [ that's a lie. kaneki doesn't like being here, he is absolutely lonely, he has no friends, he is terrified on living with other people, and he doesn't know what he is meant to be doing in this place.

But he keeps smiling instead of admitting all of that. ] I guess I still need to get used to the whole magic part, though.

I believe you're fine about as much as I believe the sky's purple, bro.

[he feels like he should come clean to kaneki about knowing his previous self, but at the same time... archie never really thought they got that close-- it's not like he didn't really know anything a lot of other people didn't know. maybe touka was precious information, but... kaneki definitely isn't married just yet. he probably hasn't even met her!

...he'll leave it, for now. that's the last thing the poor guy needs. archie wonders, to himself, if kaneki knows he was married to d33, too.]

No kiddin' right? I mean, the laws of physics are pretty much optional where I come from, but I still gotta get used to some of the wild shit here.

[Look, he just wanted a cup of coffee. He technically doesn't even need sustenance to survive, but everyone else does so he's learned to play the part. Plus, this place has good coffee. He even should have known better, what with the fight computer blaring a warning in the back of his mind that this was a bad idea, giving him a decent heads up as to what's going to happen next.

He still enters the store, and it isn't long before he finds someone stupid enough to attempt to shepherd him anywhere, because it would be great for business for the accidental foodie imPort to be seen next to the Coffeero. While he has no intention of letting his image being used like that, he does take the opportunity to get close to Kaneki, who's looking uncomfortable.]

Do you need me to get you out of here?

[ when isn't kaneki looking uncomfortable when surrounded by a crowd. he looks back at Midnight, and now he just feels horribly embarrassed to have been found doing this sort of work ]

Ah- n-no, it's.... uhm, I accepted doing it. [ as uncomfortable and unsure as he is ] They were offering a proper coffee machine so.... [ so he is kind of whoring himself for it? LOOK DON'T JUDGE HIM, LIVING HERE IS VERY HARD and being able to brew coffee properly makes it a little better ]

I know these types, and they have a bad habit of taking advantage of young and well-meaning imPorts. I just want to make sure you aren't being taken for a ride.

Oh, I'm sure it will be alright. It's just a coffee ad, and everyone seems nice. [ even if pushy? But kaneki figures that's because he isn't used to this sort of business at all ]

At least they didn't ask me to dress like a superhero or anything like that, I only need to "look natural and drink coffee". I can do the later without any issues. [ but the "look natural" part? Well, that's a joke, really! Because Kaneki is awkward and introvert and a bit anti-social who doesn't know how to say no or keep a conversation going to save his life ]

It's the people that seem nice while asking you to do things that you usually have to look out for.

[Con artists are good at what they do because they seem genuine.]

And the photos?

It's part of the contract, they want me to do photo-ops with fans while holding mugs with the brand and such. [ well, photos should be fine, right? ] They wanted me to wear a T-shirt with their name, but that was pushing it too far. [ he chuckles softly ]

But after this I will get the coffee maker, so it's worth it.

Tell me the contract is only for today.

[And that he read it close enough to know the answer to that.]

[Not one for big crowds or pestering someone in a crowd, so he waits for Kaneki to take a break and comes over during the break, offering a bottle of water. Umbreon, as per usual, is tagging along and tossing some glares at others who'd deign to pester the boy on his break.]

Looks like they haven't left you alone long enough to get a drink, here.

[ Kaneki is so relieved to finally have a break from photos and rest for a moment. He appreciates the bottle, nodding softly ] Thank you.

I have been drinking a lot of coffee, actually. [ well, it is a coffee ad, after all ]

[silvallyant]

[He shrugs at the thank you with a small nod.]

Yuck. Nothing but coffee? That can't be good. Have they at least let you eat? [Pause, then an idea strikes. He was off the rest of the day and getting hungry himself.] When are they letting you get off?

[ well, he likes coffee...... ]

Oh, in half a hour. I'm almost done, so it's not so bad. [ kaneki didn't get the hint, since he no longer ears ]
