JUNE CATCH ALL // OPEN
WHO: Jane + EVERYONE
WHERE: Heropa, Cape Canaveral, any other place you'd like
WHEN: All of June
WHAT: Catch-All Log
WARNINGS: None; will add as needed
A // FALLING WITH STYLE
Flying … was fun. Jane would never, ever deny that. But, as she stated in one conversation with someone on the network, just calling it ‘falling upwards’ did not encompass how amazing it was. It was also a really, really poor description to her physics-laden mind.
As she had experimented with electricity times before, this time, Jane was going to experiment more with using Mjolnir to fly. Sure, she was getting the hang of it, but that was throwing the hammer, holding onto the handle, and praying Mjolnir would take care of the rest. The hammer, bless its … soul? Would soul work? Yes. Let’s just go with that. The hammer always came through for her and had yet to get anyone killed. But Jane knew it could do so much more.
And this time she wouldn’t temporarily make someone blind!
So, who wants to watch Jane attempt to fly with more style? Would someone like a ride?
B // ROBOT MOVIES
After getting permission from the park, Jane set up a huge projector screen in a clearing where she could host a movie night. Knock Out, her main guest of honor, couldn’t fit into her apartment like the rest of her friends when they had a movie night. But it was summer and people were doing this sort of thing anyways—nothing unusual about that.
Tonight’s feature were god awful robot movies: Star Odyssey, the episode of Family Matters that featured Urkelbot, Logan’s Run, Robot Monster. To make up for it, should anyone absolutely be dying for mercy, she also brought a copy of The Iron Giant.
C // TWILIGHT CAMPUS COFFEE
Coffee was Jane’s life blood. Everyone who knew her knew this. Jane held onto it carefully as she hoisted her telescope from her car and headed to her classroom. She had planned a stargazing session for her students so they could see things like galaxies and the moons of Jupiter. Caffeine was happily buzzing in her veins and she was excited for the large interest that had appeared online. It seemed that even some people who weren’t her students were coming!
Someone want to join and see the wonders of the universe?
D // GOD AWFUL COOKING SKILLS
Jane was not the best cook in the world. She ordered take out more often than she cared to admit, but at least she knew how to follow microwave meal instructions and could make awesome cookies. However … tonight, she was not making cookies or a microwave meal.
That explained why there was smoke pouring out from the windows of her apartment, the fire alarm was going off, and a panicked voice was yelling, ‘IT’S FINE EVERYTHING IS UNDER CONTROL OH GOD—’
E // WILD CARD
I likely forgot a plot or two. If we had something planned and it’s not up above, feel free to start a thread! If you’d like to do something with Jane that is not above, feel free to do the same!

"You have all of that?"

Jane might be determined but Anakin was still unsure. "Sure you don't want me to carry something for you? I think the telescope may weight more than you." Probably not, but it was probably just as unwieldy - and they were fragile.
So where bones.
no subject
"Really? That's awesome! You must be from a different part of the universe, or at least the galaxy then!"
In her arms, the telescope shifted and she gave a grunt. The coffee was teetering towards the "almost being spilled" side of things.
"Maybe my coffee? If you don't mind?"
no subject
"Different galaxy all together from what I can see of the star maps. Where we are, it'd be the Outer Rim but this galaxy isn't completely shaped like mine." Anakin continued to talk as he watched and caught the coffee just before it leaned too far over. "Not a problem."

Ironfist is kneeling down again to better interact with the much smaller organics. From behind his eyes there's a very camera-like whirring noise, suggesting that lenses are being focused on Jane behind his blue optic glass.
Jane had been ear-marked as a potential scientific partner after that time she stopped Ironfist from almost blowing up a park (well, not really but try telling that to some of Jeopardy's inhabitants, and Solomus knows Ironfist has tried) and this method of flight sounded so unusual and intriguing he couldn't turn down an invitation to watch.
"So if I understand correctly, the hammer is the means of propulsion? I'm assuming this is...magic-based, right?" There's no visible means of achieving lift, no obvious means of anti-gravity tech. It's a hammer, after all. Gotta be magic. "Must be difficult to control trajectory after the initial throw, yeah? How do you compensate for that?"
no subject
Really, Mjolnir wasn't going to allow her any amount of true flight like birds and planes could. Yes, there was lift and velocity and all that, but turbulence was not needed, nor was drag really taken into account. The amount of force Mjolnir could produce was enough to compensate.
"Exactly," Jane replied, swinging the hammer around in her hand. She was not fighting anyone, so there was no need for her to transform like she had a time or two before. "Based on prior observations, Mjolnir here can change direction and redirect the energy it still has from the initial throw based upon its own will or my own. But after so long, that energy has to run out. That's what we're testing today."
no subject
"You make it sound as though the weapon is alive." He notes as he runs through the scan-data on his internal sensors. "So you want to test maximum range before needing to wind up for another throw?" He's already wondering if there's something they might do to increase flight-time...
no subject
"Not quite alive, but sentient," she corrected, still gathering up some momentum. "Yeah! The last time I saw this in use, it went about 450 meters in height."

He's interested to see just what Jane has deemed appropriately "terrible" for robot-themed movies, but it also sounds like a perfect distraction. Hopefully anyone else who decides to show up will be as equally amused.
"Thank you for this."
no subject
People already milling about for the movies. There was a hastily scribbled sign over on the outer edge of where the field was. Even if there was a large crowd, Knock Out’s natural height would allow him to see the movie regardless.
“I just hope you’re ready for true awfulness—bad acting, bad designs and effects, and absolutely no grasp on anything mechanical.”
Pressing a button, the projector fired up the first movie: Robot Monster.
no subject
Knock Out had known many Decepticons who were genuinely good people (he did not, generally, count himself among that number). On the other hand, he has also met quite a few who are complete monsters, so it was really a gamble.
The movie started, and it almost immediately proved to be as completely atrocious as Jane had promised. Knock Out periodically made strangled sounding noises at the paper-thin "explanations" for science.
no subject
At another one of his strangled noises, which was well-deserved, she held up a bag of popcorn she had not touched yet.
"Here, a classic human tradition: throwing popcorn at the screen."

Here, though? All sorts of goofy individuals zipping around the airspace now and then! Why not intercept the one he'd previously pranked around with earlier to interesting effect.
And by "intercept," of course, he means "simply apparate in her path as she's sailing through the sky just to see what happens."
Not even with a poof!
no subject
Jane screams as they crash land into one another and start falling to the ground.
no subject
Karma is very welcome to interject at any time, but for right now, Xellos takes the hit, enjoys a bit of the plummet before righting himself, scooping the woman in his arms and vanishing, the pair of them (and that stupid hammer) reappearing safely on the ground.
"My, my!" Xellos laughs. "Of all the skies to be traveling in, I pick the one with so much traffic!"
no subject
Jane’s head is spinning from the sudden transportation and she stumbles for a moment, regaining her legs. Her eyes snap to him in quite a bit of fury.
“Oh my god! You! What did you do, teleport us to the ground? No, don’t answer that, that is exactly what you did.”

He calls back, "Are you sure? That's a lot of smoke. I don't burn easy so I can probably help if you need it!"
no subject
"In that I'm not burned! And that it's not gone past the pan! But yes, please, help!"
no subject
And because he doesn't have a key, he decides it's easier to climb in through the window. So that's what he does. After clamoring in clumsily before tumbling to the ground, Anton quickly scrambles to his feet, rushing over to the burning dinner and grabbing it, undeterred by the heat, before quickly dropping it into the sink and running water over it. A thick plume of smoke rises from the remains of her dinner, and Anton coughs a few times, waving his hand to try and clear the smoke.
"All right, fire's out."
no subject
Jane coughed and managed to locate a rag and used it to direct some of the smoke away from them.
“Thank you, Anton,” she said in between some more coughs.

D - I'm sorry I'm so late!
What...? [ and now the natives realize Kaneki is an imPort, so they are telling him to go there. He isn't the best at this - in fact, he always says he isn't the best at anything involving heroism - but Kaneki can't say no, so he ends up actually going to the door of Jane's apartment and knocking ]
Hello? Is everything okay in there...?
no worries, i'm always late too!
It takes her a moment to reach the door, and by this point, the fire is out and everything is covered in fire extinguisher foam. Including her.]
Yeah. I think so ... I was not really trying to burn water.
no subject
Ah... are you alright? You are a bit dirty, miss Jane. [ a bit.
actually, he is trying not to laugh, now that he realizes she was trying to boil water ]
no subject
Yeah. This is going to take the rest of the night, I think.
