[Closed] Vermont - Curing Broken Hearts Since...?

WHO: David Alleyne, Conner Kent, Bart Allen
WHERE: Cabin in Vermont
WHEN: Mid June
WHAT: David's SO got ported out, so some friends kidnap him for his own good
WARNINGS: David starts a little drunk. Other than that, just heartbreak.

It's a surprisingly easy flight. Easy enough that David, despite issues with flying, falling, speed, and a number of other things that come from understanding physics too well, actually manages to nod off. Not entirely. But dozing is a thing. He manages it all the way until Kon's got them to the target location, and landing is surprisingly easy too. It's only then that David stumbles away for a moment, looking around and seeing a building labeled 'office' in a rustic cabin. The lights are low and he frowns at it, like he can't understand how this happened.

"This isn't De Chima," he observes to Kon.

"It's not, no. Now come on, sit down for a minute, okay?" Kon leads him to the office and inside, to a seat, the door opening on command from his telekinesis. He gently escorts David in, his teke on at all times, just in case.

Briefly, he steps up to the counter.

"I need a three or four bedroom cabin, and if possible, a fully stocked liquor cabinet or the numbers of some personal food shoppers in the area."

He holds out his black card, the same of his agency displayed on it, as he grins his warm and model-practiced smile. It doesn't take long to get the cabin he wants, booked for a week and a half, and to get the clerk to call a shopper for him, after he has rattled off a list of alcohol and food for them to buy and bring to the cabin. Taking the keys, and posing for a picture, he makes him way back to David.

"Hey, how are you doing?"

Those pictures might come back to bite David in the ass later. He really shouldn't have playfully flirted with Kon at that AtlanTech thing, especially since there is every chance the guy managing the cabins will recognize him as well. If he was sober he would easily envision the headlines: Super-Model Conner Kent and Reality Star David Alleyne seen together for a romantic getaway.

"Not great," he sighs, getting to his feet again, out of the seat that Kon had put him into. "Think I'm starting to sober up. I don't like it."

"Well, they will be bringing us more alcohol, and as soon as we are settled, I can get is interim alcohol and pizza, courtesy of Bart. What is that pizza place you like in Chicago?

He glances around, then nods, pointing. "Our cabin is that one, the one behind the others."

He is glad of that as he walks with David. Maybe for once they can avoid the press? Sureeee.

"Uno's," David says immediately, and when Kon gets him walking, he goes with the other.

"So," he says after a long moment, stumbling a step and almost falling into Kon, "thanks. For bringing me.

"Cool." He nods, walking with David, his hands carefully holding the man up. "You're welcome. You're my friend, David, and fuck, I know how... I know the feeling." There is roughness in his voice for a moment, before he goes on.

"A week or so of relaxation, distraction, and as many or as few friends as you want here is yours."

"I don't want to know the feeling. Again."

Too many times. He just wants someone to keep. And instead will probably content himself with being alone.

"I understand. I wish I could... make it better for you." He gently squeezes David's shoulder as he let them into the cabin. It is a very well-appointed, four-bedroom thing of style, and Kon glances around, shaking his head.

"We've got space to set up, and to invite friends, if you want them, here."

He turns to David, even as he cocks his head to the side.

That's a lot of space. More than he had expected. David finds a couch and stumbles over to it, flopping down.

"I don't... think I wanna see others. I don't wanna be seen like this."

Seen so... weak.

"That's fine. You rest. I can have Bart drop off the pizza, and the rest of the food and drinks will get here tomorrow. Everything else we can handle as it comes."

Kon hesitates. "Just know, I don't think people who care would think less of you."

He's broken down over a guy he hadn't known that well. A man that could have killed him if they weren't smart and careful.

"What is the point? Of love?"

"To bring joy and hope. And to share joys with someone else." Kon sighs. "With anything good, there is always a downside, and always a risk. It sucks, but... pain, while it sucks, is not the end. It's only the middle."

Kon glances aside at David. "There will be chances at joy again."

“Every time,” David mumbles. And trails off, flopping back to fully lay down and look at the ceiling.

“This was good. This place. Gave and didn’t take. Now it takes too.”

"I'm sorry, David." Kon nods, his eyes distant as he thinks about recent events, both David's and his own, and sighs.

"Sometimes, things aren't happy. But happy will come again." Kon has to believe it. He has to. Or else he would scream and never stop.

Happy will come again. People always say that. How in the world will happy come again? But David doesn't argue. At all. He just nods and gestures for Kon to come closer.

"Just... can I get a hug? I'm gonna miss hugs."

"Of course."

And Kon closes with David and hugs him. And David gets a real Superhug, telekinesis pulling him in and holding him close so he is entirely held, for a moment, every part of him hugged gently.

"Hugs are nice."

"I miss touching people," David whispered. "It hurt to touch him, but we could."

And there were a grand total of two people he knew he could touch at any time without problems. Judd didn't scream 'hug me' very well. Kon... was about the safest David could get. So he definitely allows the super hug, letting it wrap him up in comfort.

"You're nice. Good friend. Best flying guy I know on this planet."

"I'm so sorry, my friend. I... well. I'm pretty damn fond of hugs myself. I never really got a lot of them back home. So... you know. If you ever want a hug... I'm in."

Kon does not shiver, at all. Nope. Not full of emotion, either. Nope.

Instead, he just hugs David and nods, smiling. At the words, he blushes.

"I'm just a guy who tries. But thank you."

The pain had been entirely Damian's fault, but David accepted it and moved on. In the end he had no choice. Affection did that.

But in the mean time, David clearly had no intention of letting go of Kon. The man is there and he can do it without limitations.

"You're a good guy and deserve good people things."

"I've got friends, a career, and school, and a life where I can define my own limits. Not a bad list of things, David." He hugs David, holding on and making sure the man feels held. feels cared for.

"You are a good man too. You've been there since I arrived, being a good man and being kind. And you deserve those things, too."

Not a bad list indeed. Okay, he accepts this argument. For now.

"Good is never enough," he sighs. "Damian jus wants me for what I can do. At first."

And nothing more needs said on that.

"Stupid, to have feelings for people like this. Only get hurt."

Kon blinks, and stares, and something like red drops over his eyes for a moment at that. And then he sighs and hugs David. Nobody should hurt David, damn it.

"Love is never silly. And the hurt is worth it."

He still says that, despite the hurt in his heart, too many times over.

"Bullshit," David counters, but that comes from the drunk part.

But when he looks up at Kon it's with a sad little look. A guy his age should know better than this, right? Right.

"Always fails for me. Don't know why I try."

"Sometimes, things end. I know it hurts. I get it. But... it's worth being open to."

There is sadness in Kon's eyes as he meets David's.

"It's worth it while it lasts."

Worth it while it lasts. David wants to laugh. But he doesn't. He's just sad.

"He's the most I've ever had."

And that's its own form of disappointing.

"I need to eat."

The words are spoken like a revelation. Like he's suddenly begun to realize his body functions. Which he might have.
