how many weirdos are in this house again???
WHO: all-might, cece
WHERE: heropa...1?? i forget what house we're in and frankly too lazy to check
WHEN: May, post-feywild shenanigans
WHAT: oh right.......you
WARNINGS: ?
[you know...sleeping in? it's not so bad. not having to get up and trudge out to the Porter to De Chima to that damn magic shop?? even better.
she is never working at that store again.
what a lovely late morning! Cecelia spends a little extra time primping just because she can -- considering maybe giving that look her older self made note of before quickly going back to old habits. she can't abide so many freckles on her face at once, okay?
in either case, sauntering downstairs before noon, ears picking up the sounds of a house at rest is...peaceful. nice. maybe she'll make some tea. maybe Fuu will want some, too? mayb--]
GAH!! Oh! Oh, gods, what?! Who?! What!
[she nearly trips down the stairs at the sight of the lanky, yellow-haired weirdo in the den, clutching the banister to keep upright.
...gods, she really needs to get Darin to carpet these stairs or something.]

And said book goes flying when he hears a sudden yell, and he turns to face the source of the yell. It's... Cecelia, he thinks. They haven't spoken much, as they seem to keep missing each other, and he half raises a hand in greeting before realizing he may have surprised her as much as she surprised him.]
Uh... sorry? Did I startle you?
no subject
[Cecelia remains clung to the banister, gawking at.......that....thing...
what is that hideous face?!]
Uh--hello? Yes? Who--who are you? Are you new? No one said anything about another resident here, thank you very much--
no subject
Oh, you've probably only seen me like this.
[He transforms into All Might, giving his usual winning smile, before poof- he's Toshinori again.]
no subject
[aaand when he poofs again:] GAH!
[that last startle has her sliding onto her butt on the step, hugging the banister for a beat longer before letting go, situating to sit properly as she gawks.]
Y...You're a changeling? [blink blink.] And...you choose to change into...into that?
[gods, she knows humans can have broken aesthetics, but...!]
no subject
Sorry, I don't mean to keep startling you. That's the way my powers work; not only does my other form multiply my strength and speed, it helped the image I wanted to project in my work as a professional hero. A strong, unmovable figure who can fight away any evil and do it with a smile.
no subject
the way he explains it, it sure does sound like changeling fare...but, like, with more than just the skin alterations. power, too? it's like a changeling crossed with a druid or...
well. whatever. it's probably not magic, so she's sure even bothering what god bequeathed him such a gift is worth it.
she exhales, shaking out her fingers to free her of some of the tension the fright gave her.]
...Well. That certainly would've been wonderful to know beforehand, but I guess I'll thank you all the same for informing me. Better late than never, as they say.
no subject
[Toshinori sighs, keeping his distance for now.]
Most people back home only saw one form or the other, not both. I wanted to keep a secret identity. That changed for me right before I was brought here, because my powers had failed. I tried to keep the separation up here, but my powers are unreliable, so... there's no point. That doesn't mean I shouldn't warn people before changing, though, so I apologize.
no subject
...granted, what good paladin tale was ever free of tragedy?
she clears her throat.]
...Very well. Thank you, then, for the information. Is there anything else of import I ought to know up-front? Lest I break my neck descending the stairs the next time a surprise comes about.
no subject
Well, nothing except the fact that people around me sometimes feel more... emboldened. It's not something I have conscious control over yet.
no subject
...Emboldened how. Do to what, exactly? Is there an exactness? As in, is someone going to be emboldened to walk into traffic?
no subject
Not that I'm aware of, no. Just think of it as... like, a little boost of energy or courage. It's not a bad thing.
no subject
...gods. Darin lives here, too.
she's now surprised there's still a functioning roof on this place!
after a little sigh:] Duly noted. I'm sure such a quality will find itself in high demand during the daily rush hour, so you've got yourself heaps of prospective tasks you can touch. [she stands up.] No shortage of things to dip your fingers in, that is. Now, if you don't mind...
[she descends the stairs, passing by him on her way to the kitchen.]
no subject
[He lets her pass, looking a little lost. He's definitely not used to making not-that-great first impressions. He then shrugs, picks up his book and resettles himself.]
no subject
she dines quietly at the table by herself (because she is not an animal who eats on the sofa, cleans up, and begins her meander back into the den, her eyes naturally drawn to the cover of the book currently keeping Toshi busy.
with her head still tilted at an angle to read it:] ...I...thought you said you were keeping busy.
[a beat.]
"Retirement"...?
no subject
When she approaches him again, he looks up from the book.]
Well... I am in a "trying to figure out what to do with my life" kind of way. Back home, my powers were almost gone, and here they're really unreliable. Since I can't exactly resume my job as a teacher of kids with superpowers here... I'm trying to figure out how to spend my days. This book isn't terribly helpful, though.

no subject
[He unconsciously touches his side, where there's the remnants of an awful wound still underneath his clothing.]
I'm thinking about getting some healing from people here who have offered. That means needing to be extra careful. Finding things to do that are more low-key while my body handles my old injuries.
no subject
that's concerning.]
...Well. I'd propose more engaging literature than what you've got your hands on now, for starters.
no subject
You have a point there. This book is for people who have time to plan and invest before they retire. Bunch of stuff about traveling or doing home improvement or spending time with kids and grandkids when your career is over... I'm not into that.
[He rubs his chin thoughtfully.]
Maybe I can ask the network. We have so many people from so many varied worlds here... someone might have ideas.
no subject
Be...careful with that crowd, mm? Just saying because, like. Uh. There's a lot of...weirdos on there. Like, weird weirdos, not like, harmless nonsense.
[a beat. she finds she has started to lean in a conspiratorial way, as if trying to pass on gossip about a girl in another class.
she straightens back up, smoothing out her clothes.]
That is to say, do as you wish, of course! You've got...sense, I'd hope. I almost made the mistake of saying common sense, but. Well.
There's none of that here. Ever.
no subject
[Because he's met his share of weird fans. It came with the territory of being the Symbol of Peace- not everyone was kind, or knew how to respect boundaries.
But he chuckles.]
I have some sense, yes. Sometimes it goes out the window, but I try to keep it with me, anyway.
no subject
[she tsks quietly, giving him one more once-over.
...he's really wiry. and kind of...gross-looking...
best not to stare too long.]
In any case, should you need me, I'll be upstairs. You'll have to knock; my room is soundproofed.
[she gets up two steps before she stops, glancing over her shoulder.]
...It's Cecelia, by the way. My name. Forgive me for going out of order with things; it's a bad habit I've picked up in this world.
no subject
[He nods.]
As a hero, I'm All Might. But for now, in this body... it's Toshinori.
no subject
[hm.
rather...musical a rhythm to that name, isn't it? not really the sort of thing she'd equate to the broader, chiseled, louder version she'd witnessed at first.
...it's not terrible.]
Right, then. Well met. And as I said, should I be required...knock first?
[and with that, she excuses herself to go upstairs for some reading and preening.]
