► HEROPA | THE BEACH( it's been a very long time since she's been to a beach, something that had been a bit more special when she'd gone once with billy, making it the only time in the recent centuries that she had. surprisingly, the beach had actually been the reason she'd come to heropa that day, it having been recommended to her. and it would be nice, a change in scenery, somewhere to be alone with her thoughts, to enjoy the day and luckily this day was nice, not too hot, though compared to the temperatures she was used to in england it was already much warmer, hence the simple dress she'd opted for that day.
and she'd brought a picnic with her, having found a little basket in the market one day which had been a nice memory from york, sitting on a blanket on the beach, shoes tucked beside her. she'd brought a book though currently, it sat untouched on the blanket, mrs s. enjoying for the moment simply looking out to the ocean, polite smiles at people that passed by, enjoying the peace of the day )
► ANY CITY | FEYWILDS THINGS( she was exiting a coffee shop when it happened, take-out cup of coffee between her hands, one that ends up promptly dropped. it's a quick thing that happens, her feet lifting from the ground, seeming almost to levitate for a moment before she steadily raises higher.► ANY CITY | WILDCARD
it makes her panic, surprised by it, the fact that she's-- flying? it's something that she's done before, had been able to when she had her wings but it was never anything like this, not something that happened accidentally. but then her other angelic power that she'd had returned here also had taken a moment to get used to, to remember her control of. and it's something that she could do here, if she focused, calmed herself she'd be able to land but she's surprised, too surprised and it's that panic that makes her raise higher.
she's still in arms reach enough for someone to grab her, to try and pull her back down (for now) otherwise someone will have to find a more creative way of getting her down -- or hope that she can herself )
Interested in something else? Mrs S. works at Maurtia Falls High School or can be found at H.O.P.E. in Heropa. She can easily be found in a library or cafe, grocery shopping, a bakery, etc etc. Or pm me for some plotting and we can figure something out!
good ol feywild things
[there's surprise in that exclamation, but not really that much alarm -- it's more a declaration one would make discovering they make purple frosting or something surprising but not altogether out of the realm of possibility.
yet even as the poor woman starts floating up, Xellos doesn't seem too terribly ruffled!
...especially since he was, himself, a seven-foot purple ostrich with a staff tucked in the crook of his wing.
amused:] Do you just do that for no reason? Is that why you look so distressed?
no subject
I didn't do it.
( not that she's aware of )
no subject
Looks like most everyone else has their feet on the ground.
[...except the hover cars. but those are supposed to do that, apparently.]
Maybe it was something you ate.
no subject
( in her discomfort at the situation her tone comes out a little sharper than she intends, though thankfully she's at least now just floating, no longer raising higher )
And it's not a power of mine.

Xellos bobs in place, stamping one of his big ol' raptor feet in idle thought; doing so startles a passer-by who had started slowing to gawk at the both of them, sending them scurrying.]
Maybe you should find some string, then.

Mrs Sheringham may or may not recognize the face of the very tall (over seven feet) teen walking down the beach by the water line. He certainly recognizes her from their conversation over the network. He decides to approach. ]
Appreciating the sunny afternoon, Mrs Sheringham?
no subject
I am. It's nice to do so.
( she might sound a touch confused )

It's Bean. Whatever's happening to imPorts is happening to me, too.
no subject
Are you alright? Do you know how it happened?

Just woke up like this. The last time I was this old, I had spent six years living on an alternate Earth. This time, I guess I took a shortcut.

...uh?
[It doesn't look like it's on purpose, is the thing. He trots after her quickly, waving his arms to get her attention.]
Hey! Grab my hand! Think unhappy thoughts!
no subject
Thank you.
( it takes a moment but with his help and her focus she does come back to the ground )
no subject
How long have you been able to do that?
no subject
( she hasn't read her file on her powers but it wouldn't be one of them either way. whilst she used to be able to fly with her wings it was very different to this )
It isn't one of my powers.
no subject
[Which. She has clearly noticed.]
Are you sure? Maybe you just didn't know you could do it.

She remembers seeing a robber with wonky superpowers going floating helplessly away into the sky, and so when she sees it happening again, she doesn't hesitate: the witch just goes running headlong with a shout ("Hang on!"), summons up a gust of wind to try to blow the woman a little closer to her, leaps up, and just grabs one of her boots and hangs on for dear life as the pair of them float through the air, trying to use her weight to drag the other brunette back down to earth.
It is not, exactly, the most dignified way to meet someone in-person for the first time after a network conversation.

"Thank you. That was risky."
If they hadn't been pulled back down anyway.
no subject
"Better than you floating endlessly off into the heavens and then, erm, having a violent tumble back down." A beat, as a more horrifying thought occurs to her—
"Unless you were in control the entire time and you didn't actually need any assistance, in which case I just jumped on you for no reason, and I'm deeply sorry."
no subject
"I wasn't. I don't know how it happened and it isn't my power."
Or any of the others that she still has to discover.
"Unless odd things like that frequently happen here."
no subject
"You look familiar. We've spoken on the network, haven't we? I'm Anathema."

Feywild things
As they walk past the door to the coffee shop, Dog looks up, stopping in his tracks and watching. He barks, catching his master's attention, thankfully diverting it up to the poor woman.
He could easily chalk it up to people's powers. Or the strange wild magic. But it doesn't take him long to notice that she seems to be struggling with it.
"Mrs. Sheringham?" He calls out to her. "Are you alright?"
no subject
Thankfully she's not actually raising higher but now seeming to just float a good few feet off the ground.
"This isn't one of my powers."
That she knows of. Or isn't anymore -- she used to be able to fly but that was some time ago.
no subject
"Are you stuck?" Adam asks, after a moment.
no subject
She's flown before but she didn't choose to do this, couldn't and-- could she use what she used to do to bring her down?
"Would you beable to help?"
no subject
For a moment, he considers his options, and chooses to go with the safest one. Which entails letting go of Dog's leash, pausing, and then floating off of the ground himself, carefully. When they're both within reach, he offers his hand.
"I'll pull you down."
