[ CLOSED ] how much is that kitty in the window...
WHO: Magnus Burnsides & Tadashi Hamada
WHERE: The Animal Shelter
WHEN: March
WHAT: Tadashi wants a cat. Magnus wants Tadashi to have a cat.
WARNINGS: None! It's kitty time!
[ Poor Tadashi thought he was just going to an ordinary animal shelter, seeing who and what was on offer. And that's mainly true, except for the fact that one Magnus Burnsides happens to work there. Sure, he spends most of his time with the dogs, taking them out for runs and socializing them, but part of working at the shelter means working with all the animals.
That, and Magnus very proudly loves all animals. Which means he'll clean the bird cages, tickle the rodents, feed the livestock that's made its way there and, in this case... ]
Meow, meow, please adopt me!
[ ...terrorize potential adopters as, in a terribly high pitched voice, he decides to speak for the cat that Tadashi is looking at right now. ]
Pweeeeease.

He knows he's never going to see Mochi ever again.
Clearly, the answer to his life crisis of never seeing home again, being dead, and his family not being here anymore is to get a cat.
Tadashi had weighed the options and considered the decision for a few months. While he's still not quite ready to bring home a pet to a full house of people he barely knows, he can at least look and start preparing his heart.
That is until the voice catches him. He laughs nervously.]
Well- maybe a little later? I just wanted to see what my options were.

[ Magnus ambles in, ducking a little so he doesn't bang his head on the doorway, looking relatively comical surrounded by the stacks of cages containing cat after cat after cat. One of them bats out with a paw and Magnus laughs as it smacks his arm, poking his fingers through the cage. ]
You got lots of options here. And plenty of these little fellas could use a home. I'd adopt one myself, but one of my puppers is afraid of her own shadow as it is. A cat might do permanent psychological damage.

[Yeah, he's already melting at a little one year old in the cage closest to him. On its side purring its little motor heart out.]
Besides, it's good to take the time first. I'd want to see whta cat I'm bringing home then get everything I need before bringing them, you know?

[ He says it begrudgingly, though, and mostly because Magnus absolutely did not think ahead in the same way. He sticks his fingers through the gap in the cage's bars - they can only just fit - and chuckles as the cat lazily bats at them. ]
He sure seems to like you, though. And animals have a way of making a house into a home. Everything's a little less lonely with one of these critters around.

[Yeah, don't mind him just. Reaching in to scratch the nose of the cat next to him through the bars.]
And I don't know how long I'll be here this time? So I worry about what happens if I leave again.

[ He glances over at the cat, still batting lazily out of its cage. ]
Gotta have someone to leave it to, I guess. But I figure any time with a loving home beats the hell out of spending more here. Can't let fear of tomorrow keep you from today, right?

I wonder if there's some way to set up a program for former imPort pets to cycle through a system or-- [Woop he's already planning that algorithm in his head and how that would work. A second or two and he clears his throat, then hands out one hand to shake, keeping that long sleeve pulled down; there's only a few dark spots at the edge where his skin shows don't worry about it Magnus.]
I'm Tadashi.

[ He would help. Community organization? Fine! Speaking to the public? Absolutely!
Actually figuring out the logistics and numbers? Abso-fucking-lutely not. He grips Tadashi's hand right back, good and strong. ]
Hail and well met, Tadashi! I'm Magnus. Burnsides.

Magnus does bring up an interesting point though. He never set up any kind of will back home. He never thought he'd die before he was 21. Surely that wasn't a problem for Cass and Hiro.... God he hopes not.]
Good to meet you, Magnus. You say you're the guy who feeds the cats, but are you the guy that plays with the cats?

[ He gives Tadashi a toothy grin and shoves a finger through the bars of one of the cages - with difficulty; those bars are pretty close together - and waggles it at a cat who lazily bats away at it. ]
But we play when we can! We try and take 'em out for some exercise and, uh, stimulation as often as we can. It ain't fair to them to keep them cooped up in here, not when the dogs get their daily walks.

I'm sure they like you just fine. You're just big, y'know? It happens.
