It has been a lot. And Xichen had been bleeding on the inside in the first place, so, no, he's not had a chance to heal. He's not had a chance to cope, even. But he's holding off, for now, and he will keep doing just that, because if he crashes, then that burden will add to Wangji's, and--

Well. He's never not understood what Wangji meant by not adding to the burden already weighing don Wei Wuxian. Because Xichen knows he's far from the only one who came here bleeding. (Bleeding, bleeding, bleeding until one is dizzy, but it doesn't stop...)

Xichen's expression gentles a little more yet.

"I work past nine this fortnight," all right, maybe a slightly pinched look, there, but he does take his work very seriously. Even if the working hours are not kind to him.

Wuxian visibly winces at the hours Xichen mentions, understanding some of the weariness in the older man's face now.

He cups his hands before him, bowing just his head. "I won't come too early," there's a flash of a wry grin at that. "Even if you probably still wake up at 5."

Nasty hour to wake up, even if he'd been waking up at that time too to help with training the Juniors. Until...well. Until the recent messes happened, interrupting business as usual.
