[open] and the sun will rise
WHO: Josh Foley and YOU!
WHERE: out and about through de chima
WHEN: Month of February
WHAT: clinic hours at de chima general, grocery shopping, local clubs between heropa and de chima
WARNINGS: drinking
clinic hours.
[ hello fellow import, dr foley is here to attend to all your weird (or mundane) medical needs, should you so need them. there's a friendly little knock at the door before he lets himself in, flashing a bright smile. his life might be total chaos right now, but at least here he feels pretty confident and comfortable. ]
Hey, hi! I'm Dr. Foley. What brings you into today?
mutant crisis o'clock.
[ it's late. late, late, late, late and josh foley is still at the bar, throwing back drinks like it's nothing. things are - weird, messy, complicated, and endlessly confusing and frustrating in all the worst ways. just when he thinks he's got this handled, the rug gets pulled out from under him and he's back to dealing with all the shitty problems and feelings he left behind.
it's always catching up to him, one way or another.
he might dance a little, he might buy you a drink and offer a bright smile, or he might just sit there looking miserable and sad. it depends on the night. ]
midnight grocery run.
[ what do you do when you don't want to talk to anyone? do everything when most people are dead asleep. except, y'know - vigilantes, but they don't really count. josh has a list of things he needs to pick up.
he's also taking his sweet time going back home, walking the streets. anyone in distress is going t o be met with a stressed healer rushing over to help them. ]
out and about with a camera crew.
[ so... they need some b-roll footage before they're finally done with the filming and out of his hair. josh is putting on a pretty damn good show, all smiles and eagerness to show them around. civilians are trying to get their five seconds of fame, ducking into frame and waving.
they're keen for other imports. if you're one, expect to be approached and asked if you wouldn't mind hanging out with josh for the next few hours. ]
wildcard.
[ hit me up @ minimoffs on plurk or over PM if you'd like a starter, or just toss something! josh spends most of his time in de chima. ]

well, not 'kind of'. he's avoiding home. he's (irrationally) mad at david, and (not so irrationally) awkward around kavinsky thanks to their stint as awkward exes in a different universe. it's a lot. pile on old (and new) guilt and you've got all his worst avoidant behavior kicking in hard.
so, he's out and about. hanging out at the mall like a dumb teenager, dressed kind of inappropriately for the weather in a fall jacket, a t-shirt and jeans. he's sipping a soda, scrolling through his phone and trying to figure out how else he can waste the day. ]
no subject
but he knows josh is in this city somewhere, which means the rest of them probably are, too. and it doesn't take julian too long to get there, especially not with the travel capabilities of this place.
so he shows up. wanders around a bit. eventually gets hungry and makes his way to the mall only to immediately spot some gold asshole lurking around.
good.
which means it's time to shove against josh's side as if he didn't notice he was there in the first place. )
no subject
he doesn't notice it immediately, there are a ton of people around and his senses are duller here than they were home. but he doesn't miss him getting that close, startling a the sudden contact.
his eyes go wide. he nearly spits out his mouthful of soda. ]
J-Julian?
no subject
(look they both know better, josh sticks out like a sore thumb)
and lets lips curl into a grin that's almost closer to a sneer than anything else. looks him over once. )
They just let you wander around wherever the hell you want?
no subject
he kind of wants to. just that stupid impulse to flee the situation before it gets uncomfortable.
( he doesn't look down where there should be hands attached to his arms )
and tries to smile. ]
Dude, people kinda love me here. Wait 'til you get a fanclub.

and honestly, he's not doing so hot.
that conversation with julian took the wind out of his sails. noriko is fine - no problems there, despite the gut-wrenching guilt he feels knowing he abandoned them. but julian has never been one to suffer quietly. josh has always been an easy target for his anger.
and josh has always failed to fight back when he feels like he deserves it.
it's his night for supper and he's actually making an effort to cook. saying nothing, basically zoning out while chopping veggies for an easy to make soup. ]

you know what was delightfully uncomplicated? this friendship. you know what complicated it? sex. which feels like the story of his life. only he didn't even have that sex? and also it wasn't really the sex, but the deep emotional bond and the fact that relationship lasted longer than literally any he's ever had. ]
Hey, K? [ he leans awkwardly on the doorframe, trying at casual and kind of missing. he's been off. super off. and he's also not talking to david, soooo... lesser of two evils here. ] I got a flat tire, can you give me a lift to the store?
tw trans/misogyny! cw dicks? AND A LOT OF MEAN BEHAVIOR LMK IF IT'S TOO MUCH
Yes and no, [he says, and josh's biokinesis no doubt picks up immediately: he's drunk. not blackout, super fucked drunk, but too drunk to drive without a biokinetic intervention, but more importantly, he is apparently drunk enough to say something like,] I can't believe you fucked off to your girlfriend's while I was dealing with Murphy, who was PS, only here because Kylo Ren fucked off out of the local fucking universe. Because you had a couple of weird dreams about touching penises with some dudes you know?
And now you want a ride to the grocery store? [he isn't quite yelling, but he is somewhat: loud.]
You wanna turn your little golden penis inside-out so you got a vagina to match the attitude? On how many levels can you be a. little. bitch. Number two, [he raises his controller in a meaningless gesture, slaps it down in his other hand.] How do you not know about grocery delivery? Seriously?
[joseph kavinsky is apparently, at times, a mean drunk. literally no one is surprised.]
no subject
he'd really like to be drunk himself right now. this isn't his week. month. year. life? at least this one didn't end with anyone losing their goddamn hands. ]
It wasn't because of that. Laurie and I had some stuff we needed to work out too.
[ it was slightly because of that. he wanted a breather, but going into that conversation wasn't much easier than staying here and avoiding this one. he doesn't have the usual bite to bite back that might come with being cornered, he's too god damn tired for that. ]
I didn't think one night would be a big deal. I'm sorry.
[ the grocery store is a moot now. ]
no subject
he stares at josh's little golden face for a long moment.
and then, abruptly, he plants his palm on the front of it. face push classic.
except, you know, instead of actually pushing joshua away by his face, kavinsky just keeps his grip fixed there.]
I can't drive while I'm drunk, [he says, expectantly, and possibly also low-key daring joshua to now decline his magnanimous offer to go to the grocery store with him. being a dick was a chronic, lifelong condition for kavinsky, and he isn't planning to grow out of it very suddenly.]

Clinic
You're the doctor? Seriously? [He shakes his head.] I fucked up an old injury, I think. My shoulder.
no subject
My powerset is geared around healing. [ he reaches out the psychic part of his powers, the ability to sense what's up with the body before him, trying to get a feel for what he's working with here. ] Can you extend your arm for me a little? Stop when it hurts.
no subject
[Matthew's body has been broken and put back together many, many times. Currently though, it is his left shoulder that aches badly enough that even extending his arm makes him wince.]
no subject
I also kinda sorta have a PHD in medicine, so kinda?
[ he scribbles something down on the clipboard and sets it aside. ]
I need to touch you to fix it. Is that alright?

"Hey, what's up? You don't look like you're doing too great."
Clearly, keen observation skills are at play here.

He'd have to be an unobservant idiot not to be aware of the drama floating around at David and Josh's place, and usually staying well out and avoiding it all is his primary strategy for these things, but ... ugh, he's tentatively giving being a better person a shot. And if anyone has earned not being ducked on the street, it'll be Josh.
He shifts course, stepping out of the shadows across the street to head for Josh. He's not quite looking like himself, dressed down in a dark hoodie and jeans, and the small wave he offers is subdued. ]
Nice night for a [ run to the 7-11 for a bunch of crap he's going to regret eating in the morning ] walk.
no subject
Dude, you scared me. [ he did not. and he knows he didn't now, because damian has felt his powers and that's still a weird thing to consider? there's only a few other mutants who feel anything close to what he feels, and it's just -- it's weird. he's not sure if its a good weird or a bad weird.
so he jush gives a dumb smile. ] You're not out fighting crime are you?
no subject
No, it's my off night. [ He shifts his bags around to free up a hand, digging out and offering a can of something sugary and too sweet. ] I'm making some questionable choices, if you want in on them.
