WHERE: Jeopardy 004, Various porter cities
WHEN: January 14th to the end of the month.
WHAT: Catch-All
WARNINGS: None, will updated as needed.
Jeopardy 004; Roommates
Adam frowns, staring at the empty shallow glass bowl he hastily bought upon his arrival to Jeopardy. He stood in the kitchen, leaning up against the counter as he kept his distance from the bowl, hands bracing himself as he loses himself in thought. He could try and scry, see what he could find in the area where Henrietta should be, but who would spot him? He didn't know anyone, trust anyone to time him as he essentially allowed his soul to float free of his body.
He wasn't certain the risk was worthwhile when he could just drive there.
On the other hand, it would give him some closure that this wasn't actually a dream. He hadn't quite learned if he could scry within dreams (if he remembered this, he'd have to ask Ronan) -- it wasn't worth it. He sighs, dropping his hands to his sides as he goes to brew a cup of coffee.
"So." He starts to talk to himself, looking at the phone to scroll through the local network. "What was I like before?"
He'd really like to remember being here before.
Nonah;
He's found himself in Nonah to take a look at the university campus. If he's unable to go to Harvard (which he has yet to look up to see if it even exists) then the least he can do is see what the Porter city allowed. The ability to travel from one end of the country to the other in a short time was something he's not going to be able to get used to. Despite that, the mobility and technological advances (despite the architecture reminding him of the 1950's) have proved useful so far.
He stands at a bus stop, looking up at the map trying to figure out the best way to get to the university from where he is.
"Oh, excuse me. Do you live around here?" He manages to stop someone. "I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction."
De Chima;
So it was true: Henrietta didn't exist here. Adam found his way to the public library once he realized De Chima is in Virginia. Aglionby doesn't show up in an internet search, there's not Henrietta on a map of Virginia, and no matter where he's looked there's not even a reference to the city he grew up in or anything he knew in the surrounding areas.
He's not entirely sure how he feels about that.
He has to resist the urge to see if he can bring the dream motorcycle through the porter to drive. See it for himself, to actually know but he already knew the truth long before he thought to grab the motorcycle. There was no point.
Once he's returned the books, the maps (and paid for the scans), he stops by the community board, looking at the various flyers on the corkboard when his attention is drawn to the current events scheduled for the library.
"Hot or Not Import Meeting. Meet's nightly at 7PM." He reads out loud, sounding a little perplexed.

"Lucky you, picked another imPort kid on looking at NU, too." It was on his list anyway. He wouldn't have to worry about credits carrying anywhere--it wasn't like any of this would hold if (when) they got sent back home. "They definitely accept us. Plenty of scholarships...I could take you up that way if you want? I already got the tour...a few times."
no subject
He wasn't necessarily the best at small talk, finding that he gets into his own head more often than not, but at least this was common ground. He just happened to meet another imPort who was interested in going to university, which, was surprising luck.
"I'm Adam, by the way." He smiles offering his hand. "Thank you for helping me out."
no subject
That fact could have the effect of freaking new imPorts out. He just hoped that the fact Adam was considering universities meant that he already got the speel about how people could be here for a range of time.
"Will Solace." He takes his hand with a grin and a firm shake. "Don't mention it. It's easy to get overwhelmed when you first get here."
no subject
"How long have you been here, Will?"
no subject
It barely feels that it's been that long. Almost as though he had arrived just the other day. But the events that have passed, the things he has seen and done and experienced--they all added up to three years of being anywhere but home. Three years of making this more of a home than Camp had been at times. Three years of building another life.
"It's why I started looking at schools. Who knows how much longer I'll be here, but I want to keep working with the local clinic. You kind of need school for that."
no subject
Well, that wasn't entirely true. He had seen the network comms, had seen his name in the past but it's... strange to think that he doesn't remember his time here. It's going to eat at him for a while he thinks. What did he do? Who did he talk to? Was anyone here who remembered him?
"You're looking to become a doctor then? That's noble." He offers a small smile. "Does NU have a decent medical program?"
no subject
This whole "time is cyclical" thing messed with one's head. He tended not to think on it too hard for just that reason.
"But yeah, NU is pretty diverse with its course offerings. If you're looking to hold a degree, you can't really go wrong. And it's not like I really know much about the normal choices. Back home, for people like me, New Rome was the only place you could really hope to go for a normal-ish college experience."
no subject
Though could they all hope for good news? He was in the middle of midterms before showing up here and by now the spring semester was underway and he wasn't too keen on trying to play catch up being so far behind.
"People like you?" He has to question, has to ask because that was an odd statement to make.
no subject
Positive thinker, this one. He had to be, given all that he's lived through and all this place could throw at them at any given moment.
"Oh, right. Best to get that out of the way, I guess. I'm a demigod, son of Apollo, actually. Back home, monsters tend to hunt kids of the gods, unless they end up at Camp Half-Blood or New Rome. Kind of makes going to college difficult."
no subject
He's not sure that's a comfort. Spend a significant chunk of time in a new place, a new universe only to be thrown back with no memories of new-found friendships (though, new enemies he might be thankful to forget) or experiences.
Wait. Hold up.
"You're a demigod?" He raises a brow.
Magic he could believe considering all that he's been through, but something about the Greek Gods being real that was unfathomable.
"I apologize, that's rather rude of me." He pauses. "So you're the son of Apollo. God medicine, prophecy, archery, and music. That seems like a lot of weight to carry considering the affairs of gods and mortals."
no subject
"But where I'm from, the Greek gods are definitely still around. They definitely still have kids, and most of them are definitely still pretty horrible people." Looking at...most of you, family. Thanks for the wars and all that.
"But yeah, Apollo's my dad. If it's not obvious by my major of choice, I got most of my gifts in the medical department. He was actually here up until a while ago."
